Two years later,I couldn’t believe that I faced this monster again.I knew they'd moved,but to this fancy neighborhood?They didn't deserve it.
William's wealth and social status today came entirely from my mom.
One day,one day I would take back everything that belonged to her and me.They'd pay.
But I couldn't think of a reason why Daniel betrayed me—and hooked up with Emily,of all people,the person I despised most.
Thinking back,maybe it started that day I begged William for money.Daniel was with me.
Emily brazenly flirted with him:"You're so handsome,why settle for Sophie?Be my boyfriend instead.My family can give you everything you want."
Always composed and graceful,Daniel however blushed and became speechless.
Furious,I cursed Emily and her mother for their shamelessness.
I didn't notice Daniel's odd reaction.Maybe that's when he started wavering.
Or earlier.Two months before,I went to pick Daniel up from work and ran into William.
I later learned that Daniel worked at William's company.
I never told Daniel about William.I rarely picked him up,fearing this exact scenario.
That day,after a delivery,I passed by and waited for him.
Whenever I appeared near William,he acted superior,assuming I was begging for money.

I roared,"William's a monster,not my father.And he never will be.Daniel,I'm disappointed at you.You know how he hurt me and my mom,yet you want me to cozy up to him for your job?"
That was our biggest fight ever.
Afterwards,Daniel apologized,saying he and forgotten our history at the moment.
We had known each other since high school,and we had been in love for nearly a decade.I chose to trust and forgive him.
When I was six,William brought home a pregnant Laura.
She brazenly forced my mom to divorce him.
My mom confronted him:How could he do this to her?
William snapped,"I've hated you for years.I'm done being just the son-in-law who’s got no say in everything.You know how humiliating it's been?Finally,your old man's dead."
My mom's heart broke.My grandfather never liked William,but my mom was devoted to him,even getting pregnant before marriage.
