"What did you say?!"‌Finn pushed ‌Iris away with astonishing force.
She hit the wall, and tears welled up in her eyes from the pain."‌Finn, you're hurting me..."
But ‌Finn seemed not to hear her.He just shouted into the phone,"Say that again!Who's on the mountain?!"

"It seems to be...your girlfriend,"his colleague's voice grew weaker, obviously intimidated by ‌Finn's anger.
‌Finn panicked. He stumbled to the window and, with trembling hands, dialed my number.
The phone was quickly answered, and my cheerful voice came through.
"Happy wedding anniversary, honey!I know you're busy, but I want you to know that meeting you is the luckiest thing that ever happened to me..."
This was the sweet voivemail I had recorded for our romantic candlelit dinner. But now,it sounded extremely ironic as it rang through this room.
I rushed forward to hang up the phone, but my hand just passed through it.

Thankfully,‌Finn didn't listen further.He just said,"Stay here and don't go anywhere,"before hanging up in a hurry.
"‌Finn..."‌Iris walked over, holding her arm."I told you Eva would be fine..."
‌Finn took a deep breath and carefully examined her injury, his eyes full of guilt."I'm sorry.I was too impulsive just now."
He then called his colleague back, his voice full of barely-concealed anxiety."What's wrong with you?I said I'm with my wife. How dare you tell me my girl is in trouble?!"

"But...But it really looks like your girl..."
"Shut up!My girl is standing right right next to me!If you dare to spout nonsense again,I'll cut your tongue out!"
With a roar,‌Finn hung up,turned off his phone, and threw it aside.
He ran his hands through his hair in frustration, lit a cigarette, and took a long drag.
"‌Finn,"‌Iris hugged him from behind, resting her face on his back."Are you worried about Eva?"
"No,I'm not!"‌Finn retorted immediately."I'm just annoyed that he interrupted us..."
‌Iris let out a soft laugh."That's good.I thought after all these years with Eva,it's time for you to come back to me."
‌Finn froze. He turned his head and looked at ‌Iris with a complicated expression.
"She stole you from me.Now that I'm back, she should give you back..."‌Iris's tears fell, soaking his back."‌Finn,I love you.I love you more than anyone else..."
"Ditch her and be with me.I can get you into my family's company, give you everything you want. You won't have to risk your life exploring anymore..."
‌Finn's eyes widened."Are you asking me to give up my career?"
‌Iris grabbed his hand, her tears dropping onto it."I'm not.But I don't want to live in constant fear, waiting for you to come back.I'm afraid that one day..."
"Stop talking,"‌Finn interrupted,his voice tired."Let me think."
He let go of her hand and strode out the door.
I floated behind him,‌Iris's words echoing in my mind.
Yes,every time ‌Finn went out,I was at home, worrying to death.I was always eager to hear from him,yet also afraid of hearing bad news.
In the middle of the night,I'd often dream that he was drowning in icy waters or being attacked by wild beasts and bleeding to death.I'd wake up screaming, turn on the lights, wrap myself in a coat, and sit by the window, looking into the distance. It was as if,under the same night sky,I was sharing his experiences with him.
Many times,I'd look closely at the photos he sent, zooming in to check for any injuries.I'd type and delete the words"Come home if it's too hard"countless times.
Back then,he was just an unknown explorer. No one believed in him or supported him.If I had discouraged him,I couldn't imagine how much more bitter his heart would have been. So,I stood firmly behind him, encouraging, supporting, and cheering him on.
"‌Finn,I'm so proud to have an explorer husband. You're my hero!"
"‌Finn,I believe in you.No matter how difficult the challenge, you can always do it!"
"Don't be afraid.I'll always be here, waiting for you to come home!"
"Just go after your dreams bravely.Leave the rest to me!"
At first,he would burst into tears and express his gratitude and love for my support. But as time went by,he went further and further away, became more and more famous, and gradually forgot that exploring was dangerous and that the person who loved him was constantly worried sick.
