I spent a busy yet fulfilling period of time in peace. Many patients who had been troubled by insomnia even sent me appreciation plaques
after being treated.
The director also came to me and said that he had seen my efforts and dedication during this period and decided to start preparing for my promotion after this busy period.

Everything was developing in a positive direction.
A week later,my consultation room was no longer as crowded as before and returned to normal patient flow.I could also chat casually with my colleagues.
One day when I went to get some water,I heard a commotion. The emergency department staff and security guards all rushed towards the entrance.
A person was carried out of the ambulance, and his face was deathly pale.I asked the nurse at the front desk what had happened, and she frowned.
"It seems that the patient's girlfriend put an excessive amount of sleeping pills in his usual milk to help him sleep."
"After that, she still wasn't satisfied,so she dissolved more sleeping pills in water and forced him to swallow it after he fell asleep."

My heart sank when I heard this crazy story.
The doctors and nurses were in a hurry to push the patient to the elevator.I rushed over and pressed the button for the first floor. The doctors gave me a grateful look. When they pushed the patient in,I also saw the patient's face clearly.
It was Michael.
After finishing seeing the patients in the afternoon,I went to the emergency room where Michael was.The sign above the emergency room door was glowing red, indicating that the operation was in progress.

Squatting outside was Emily. Her hair was disheveled, and her eyes were empty. She just stared blankly at the wall of the corridor.
I went over to ask Emily what had happened, but she just shoved me against the wall after taking one look at me.She used so much force that I couldn't move at all.
Seeing this, the people around came over and separated us.With her hair in disarray, she looked terrifying. Her eyes were wide open, and she was shouting incoherently in the corridor.
In response to this situation, the hospital administered a sedative to Emily. When the sedative took effect,I saw a tear flow from the corner of Emily's eye.
Michael's parents also arrived at the hospital later. After learning about the situation, they wanted to assault Emily but were stopped.Michael's parents' hair was already completely white.
No one wanted to see the tragic scene of the old burying the young.
After several hours of emergency treatment, the light in the operating room finally went out.The door opened, and the doctor walked out slowly.
Michael's parents rushed forward hopefully."Doctor,is my son okay?"
The doctor was silent for a few seconds. Finally,he had to say those words in the expectant eyes of the two old people,"We did our best."
Michael had been given the sleeping pills the night before.Emily didn't realize something was amiss until she woke up and couldn't wake Michael up no matter how she called him,and his hands were extremely cold.
In a panic,Emily even ate a meal before calling the ambulance. It was already too late when Michael was brought to the hospital.
Michael's parents cried bitterly in the hospital and fainted several times. With the comfort and persuasion of everyone, they gradually accepted the news of Michael's death.
Emily was taken away by the police again. This time,I stopped one of the police officers.
"I think Emily should have a psychiatric evaluation."
The police took my suggestion and conducted a complete psychiatric evaluation on Emily. The results of Emily's psychiatric evaluation came out quickly. She suffered from paranoid schizophrenia.
During college, her relationship with Michael made Emily feel like she was on top of the world.Michael always indulged Emily in everything.Although they broke up later,Emily believed that as long as she showed up,Michael would return unconditionally to her side.
Coincidentally,as soon as she came back, she saw Michael proposing to me.Seeing that the proposal scene was decorated in the way she liked,Emily thought that she could outshine on me now that she was back. But she didn't expect such an outcome.
Michael's repeated insomnia made her think that it was because I was more important in Michael's heart. This thought tormented her day after day.So she developed paranoid schizophrenia. She was obsessed with ensuring Michael sleep well because of her own obsession.
Michael's parents sued Emily. The pain of losing their son in middle age made them desperately need an outlet for their pain. The court found Emily guilty of manslaughter by negligence, and she would spend the rest of her life in a mental hospital. When the verdict was announced,Emily cried silently in the defendant's seat. Her hands were chewed beyond recognition, which was a sign of severe paranoia.
I didn't attend Michael's funeral, but I heard that his parents almost fainted from grief at the funeral.Emily wasn't allowed to attend the funeral, and her life in the mental hospital wasn't easy either. Many mental patients bullied her because of her frail build.Although the hospital tried its best to mediate, this situation was still difficult to solve.
I visited Emily several times, hoping she could let go of her knot, but her reaction was too extreme when she saw me. So I could only send some flower bouquets and fruits during festivals.
After all,Emily was also a poor soul. Moreover, the accusations she made against me on the Internet actually brought me more attention. In a way,I should thank her for that.
Many short-video bloggers and programs related to health science approached me,and I was able to popularize knowledge about normal sleep time and measures to deal with insomnia.I was successfully promoted. The appreciation plaques
in my room were so many that they could cover an entire wall.
And I gradually found my true love. When I was too busy to eat in the past,my colleague would silently put a sandwich on my desk.I always thought it was bought from a convenience store. But one day when I wanted to buy it,he stammered and said it wasn't bought but made by himself.
I was touched by his tenderness and thoughtfulness. On the day he confessed his love,he gave me a bouquet of roses at the entrance of the department.I rummaged through the wrapping paper, and there were no more cut jasmine branches hidden underneath.
My nightmare was finally over.
