On my birthday,my mother cooked a big meal,preparing to celebrate with my husband when he got off work and came home.
My husband,however,said that his first love,Lily,had been drugged in a bar and he had to go to help her detoxify.
I refused and pleaded with him not to leave,but he snapped at me,"Don't be jealous.Lily is unconscious.I can't let other men take advantage of her."

When my mother heard these words,she was so angry that she had a heart attack and passed away on the spot.
My birthday turned into my mother's funeral.
I called my husband,Jack,to come to the funeral,but then I saw a post from Lily.
"Jack,after all these twists and turns,it's still you in the end."
Jack liked the post.
I also commented,"I hope they get what they deserve and stay together for good."

Lily quickly deleted the post from her social media.
I sneered and sent a message to Jack.
"When are you free?Come and get a divorce."

Jack didn't reply to me.
I handled my mother's funeral all by myself.
It wasn't until the third day,when my mother's body was cremated and turned into a handful of ashes,which were handed to me by the staff,that Jack called and demanded angrily,"What do you mean?"
I said indifferently,"It means exactly what it says."
Jack's voice sounded very tired."It's just a birthday.Stop making a fuss.Wait for me at home."
Not long after I brought my mother's ashes home,Jack came back.
There were still traces of kisses left by Lily on his neck.
How glaring they were.
The scene at that time must have been very intense.
My mother was literally enraged by him,yet Jack was being intimate with another woman and didn't even show up at her funeral.
How hateful.
Seeing me staring intently at his neck,he quickly pulled up his collar,just covering the hickey,and then raised his chin."Don't worry.We didn't go that far.I'm hungry.I want to eat the egg fried rice you make."
I didn't move at all.
Jack frowned."Grace,can't you hear me?I said I'm hungry."
I looked indifferent."What does your hunger have to do with me?Go to Lily."
Jack looked at me with a mocking smile."Why are you so jealous?I've already said that we didn't go that far.I'm still yours.Be good and go cook."
I pointed to the two suitcases stacked at the door of the bedroom.
These were all Jack's things in this house that I had packed up these past few days.
"See?I've packed your things for you.Get out now."
Jack stared at me fixedly.After confirming that I wasn't joking,his face instantly darkened."Grace!I've already explained everything clearly!What else do you want?"
I ignored him.
He patiently said again,"You're aware that Lily is a bit simple-minded.If I didn't go at that time,she might have been violated by the men there!"
"You're also a woman.You should know how crucial chastity is to you,right?"
"I just felt sorry for her!"
I burst into uncontrollable laughter,as if I had heard the most ridiculous joke.
This was the first time I had witnessed someone so blatantly excuse infidelity.
After I'd had my fill of laughter,I said,"She's pitiful?What about me?Jack,have you ever stopped to consider how I feel?"
"Do you know what happened to my mother...?"
Jack interrupted me impatiently."It's your mother again.What else do you do besides bringing up your mother every time?"
"Grace,don't push it.I've already married you.What more could you possibly want?"
The words I hadn't finished saying were swallowed back down.
I stared at him blankly"I want a divorce."
Jack's eyes flew open wide."No way.Don't even think about it!"
He was about to say something more when the phone rang.
He answered the phone and his expression immediately turned tender.
One look was all it took for me to know it was Lily on the other end.
Jack would only show such a gentle side in front of Lily.
To me,he was always haughty,cold,and distant.
Unless he needed me,his attitude would soften only then.
He walked into the room alone to answer the phone.
Half an hour later,he changed into a new set of clothes and was about to go out again.
He glanced at me indifferently."Grace,you should reflect on yourself at home during this time.Lily is ill,and I'm going to take care of her now."
"I hope you can realize where you went wrong when I come back."
The door was ruthlessly closed.
I sneered and twitched at the corner of my mouth.
He cheated on me and betrayed me,and he even caused my mother to die of anger.In the end,I'm the one who has to reflect on my mistakes?
How ridiculous.
I stood up.
Then I threw the two suitcases at the door of the bedroom into the trash bin outside.
Jack,I won't compromise anymore.
