I didn't know whether Emily was really stupid or just regarded me as an ATM.
Tom's problem wasn't the car or the hundreds of thousands of dollars.It was that he simply had no money.
Even if I gave him the car and the money,so what?Without the ability to make money,those things would never be enough.
As long as he couldn't make money,he would still come to me for money when he ran out in the future.
"Emily,listen to me.The girl's family has already set the standards.They don't want anything else but a man with economic strength."
"Your family knows they have no money,so why are they so eager to get involved?Will Tom suddenly have money after marrying that girl?"
"To be honest,Tom doesn't meet the girl's family's hard requirements.It's better to give up early.It's good for everyone.He can think about it again when he develops in the future."
Seeing that I still didn't agree,Emily's face turned cold.
"Jack,I'm telling you the truth today.If Tom's matter isn't resolved,we can't get married either."
Emily's words didn't shock me.After all,when her family proposed doubling the betrothal gift,I had already anticipated this outcome.

I nodded calmly.

Emily's words really made me want to laugh.
"Wasn't it you who first proposed not getting married?"
"No,can't you think from my perspective?Tom is my own brother.If your brother needed help,could you not help him?"
What a classic moral kidnapping,but I'm not that moral.
"If it was my brother,of course I would.But you need to be clear.Tom is your brother,not mine."
"You can use all your own money to help him,and I won't have any objections.But why should I use my money to help?"
"Aren't you Tom's brother-in-law?After getting married,Tom will also be your brother,right?"
Emily almost roared these words.
I really didn't understand how she could say such words so confidently.
