Chapter 43 So Tempting

1200words
Keith opened the passenger seat of his car before pushing Vale inside.

Her face turns red, and her eyes were about to explode from the glare she was throwing at him.

His lips curled as he looked at her purse lips.

So tempting.

Keith lowered his face and try to peck her lips.

Only, she turns her head away from him as she crossed her arms.

Closing his eyes in disappointment, he licked his upper teeth and stand up straight.

Closing the passenger seat door, he turns his back to her before breathing in and out trying to control his anger.

He walks to the driver seat and drove far away from the busy and heated town—neither of them talking through the whole rides.

Keith drove to the forest of End City.

After driving for more than an hour, he stopped the car on the clearing beside the road. He walks out of the car, followed by Vale and walk through the small path leading up to the valley.

"Where...where are you going?" she asked hesitantly.

"Come along," he said playfully before his lips curled into a smirk.

He was far ahead when he realized that he didn't hear any footsteps following him. Frowning, he stopped and was about to turn around when someone bumped into him from behind.

Startled, he lost his footing and glided down the slippery path. He stiffened when his body rolled downwards through the dense wet grass.

Keith hissed as the rocks he passed through scraped his body brutally. He tried to dig his hand on the thick grass, hoping it was strong enough to hold him. Only, it didn't last long as the roots were pulled out and thus making him rolled down again.

He clenched his jaw as he struggled to get a hold of anything. Halfway through, his shirt was ripped, making it easier for the rocks to leave a cut on his skin.

His eyes darted from one side to the other side. His hopes rose when he saw a big chunk of tree and its roots were sticking out.

Keith was about to grab onto the roots when his body bounced. He grunted when he landed on the rocks at the bottom of the valley.

He lay exhausted on the rocks.

His body was sore, and the gash on his skin stings. His breathing was laboured as sweats rolled down his face and his whole body felt sticky.

Feeling a hot liquid on his head, Keith reached up and withdrew his hand only to see blood on his hands. Grunting heavily, he pushed his body to stand up, only to fall back.

'Fuck!'

He squinted his eyes and shook his head to make the dizziness fade away. Only it wasn't helping at all.

His body suddenly felt cold and numb. He didn't even feel anything when his body falls back on the rock.

Vale's entire body froze when she saw Keith slipped and rolled towards the thick grass leading downhill.

Her body was numb and she felt her heartbeat stopped for a moment, and all of a sudden, the air felt chilly.

Her eyes were wide as her mouth open and close like a fish on land.

Her senses only kick in when his body disappears down the rock downwards.

"Keith!!" she screamed in terror.

Her whole body trembles witnessing the scene.

She was helpless on what to do as tears rapidly rolled down her face.

‘I...I need help...my phone...'

She patted her pockets only to realize that she had left her phone in the car.

She was already far up ahead. It wasn't a choice even if she wanted to go back and get her phone to call for help. By then, Keith might have already been in a critical state.

Vale's head was filled with what-ifs, and what should she do as she gripped her head and look around helplessly.

‘No! No! I can't accept this!'

She was lucky to have to wear her boots today.

She looked down where Keith had slipped. He was genuinely unlucky to have glid where trees can be counted with fingers.

Vale looked on her right and decided to descend on the slippery grass with gritted teeth. Considering many more roots were sticking out on this side.

Farther and farther she descended, Vale heard a loud thud not far away as her heart started hammering away.

Tears were blurring her view as she descended faster.

After feeling like running laps for more than humans usually do, she arrived at the flat bottom.

She immediately jogged to the direction of the sounds she heard just now.

"Keith!"

Vale cried out as she crouched down and sat on the rock. Lifting Keith's head onto her lap with trembling hands.

She checked his pulse and sighed in relief. Taking off her shirt, she ripped it before bandaging Keith's head and lowering his head on her lap again.

Vale patted his clothes and faces from the dirt gently. Her gaze transfixed on his face as her hands brushed his face.

Her tears rolled down as her lips curled, and a sob sprang out from her mouth.

She immediately covers her mouth with her hands, afraid that he would be woken up by her cries.

"I'm sorry...I'm sorry..." she mumbles the words incoherently.

Vale was scared of being left alone in the clearing and silently followed closed behind Keith, enjoying the scent of him, that waved through her nose. Noticing it was too late to step back when Keith stopped and she bumped into him.

‘This is my fault...'

Vale blamed herself for what had happened. Her legs were numb from sitting for so long. But, she ignores it as she rested her back on the rock behind her.

She was thankful that the rocks were very mysteriously organized. It looks like a flat ground and not a stone that stands like a dagger, ready to stab anyone who dropped on it.

Vale felt like it's been hours since they had been here.

She was tired and started to felt drowsy. The fact that she may not see Keith anymore when she woke up kept her eyes open. Only biting her lips when her throats croaked in thirst and her stomach growling in hunger.

Vale runs her thumb on his cheek as she gazed on the sky. Her wrists were stopped by a hand, causing her to snap her head down.

She looked down to find him already staring at her. Immediately, tears rolled down her eyes again for the umpteenth time for today.

"You're awake," she stated.

"Since a while ago," he said not taking his eyes off of her.

Her cheeks were flushed red.

Was Keith staring at her the whole time?

"How are you feeling?" she asked.

"Just like how you see me." he voiced out playfully.

Vale pursed her lips as she wiped her tears. Hearing Keith answer makes her feels ten times worse. Her heart ached with despair, regret and guilt.

By now, she was crying without caring who will overhear her.

Vale covers her face with her hands and wailed like a wolf losing her child on the moonlight midnight.
