Chapter 40 T

"No, thank you. I'll be fine on my own." Vale held up her hand as a gesture that she had made the final decision.

"Oh, come on, T. I mean, this is the best for you and also for the gang. You don't have to worry about safety if you live here. Plus, Lisa also needs some help in the house. You don't have to pay us. We'll be delighted if you can stay with us plus the kids like you. So, what's the problem?"

The only ones who were allowed to call her T, for now, are James, Lisa (James wife), and James' younger brother, Salvatore.

And that's how she decided to stay with James and his family. He insists that she stay with them, telling her that it was safer for her and more manageable for him and the gang to protect her.

Since the new base is located a bit out of town and far away from Keith's mansion, it relieves her from the stress and fear of being caught or spotted either by Keith's gang or other gangs.

On the other hand, James' house is fantastic, and it made her feel at home. His wife, Lisa Kenner, is running a restaurant.

They have a three-year-old twin.

George and Georgiana.

A boy and a girl.

They were very adorable and also very smart.

She was wondering if Lisa had been aware of James' work. But, Vale's wonders dissipated when she found her training in the basement.

"I didn't know that you're also a fighter?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Ha, you've got no idea! A duel?" Lisa smirks as Vale grinned and stretched her muscles.

"Gladly."

"Vava, I want to eat cookies..." George asked as he licked his fingers while his eyes stay glued on the TV screen.

Vale inhales slowly, trying to control herself.

How much can this little kid eat?

This is what..the fourth, the fifth time that he asked for cookies?

"Vava, I want ice cream..." Georgiana looks at her while licking the almost gone 6th ice cream on her little hand.

Vale slumped out on the sofa, trying to make it look like she had fallen asleep.

Well, not long before she felt something sticky on her face.

She opened one eye and saw Georgiana's face in front of her face with an evil grin on her face.

Vale's eyes went wide and she stood up as quickly as she can when she saw the small hands reaching up to her face once more.

She tripped and hit her knee on the coffee table, making her hiss in pain.

"Fu-nny!" she closed her eyes as she cursed mentally.

She almost cursed in front of the kids!

"Vava, Vava, hurry, hurry. We need foods." they both said simultaneously.

"Kids, no more foods for you today." she waved a finger at them and put her left hand on her hips while glaring at them.

"Brother, what should we do?" the girl whines and turns to his brother for help.

"Then, let's play hand prints all around the house." George got up from the sofa and put both of his hands, that still have sticky food on it, in the air.

"Wait, wait, wait. Fine, I'll go!" Vale said, horrified at the little devils.

She only needs a few hours to know that they're no ordinary child. They're indeed a very very smart child.

Vale went to the kitchen to check for the kids' food only to find it almost empty.

Pressing her hand to her forehead, Vale groaned when she felt a headache preparing to attack her any second from now.

She pulled out her phone and dialled Lisa's phone number.

"Hello?" she could hear the noise of the restaurant on Lisa's phone.

"Lisa, the kids' food is short on stock. When are you off to go?"

"I'm sorry, T. The restaurant is quite busy, and I still have some issues to be solved regarding the restaurant. So, I couldn't make it home early for today." she was stressed out.

"Oh, that's fine. I have nothing else to do for now. I can go out to buy some food for the kids. I'll leave them to Lana."

Lana is the actual babysitter for the twins.

"That sounds great. Thank you so much, T."

"It's nothing, really," she said before hanging up.

So, she offered to go out considering that she also needs to go on a shopping spree. She couldn't just stay at their home for free.

Vale pushed her trolley cart slowly passing the rows and rows of food displayed in the mall. Searching for the kids' favourite food and occasionally putting some fresh foods to be cooked.

"Hey, T!"

Vale jumped a bit, startled by the voice behind her. She turned around and saw Salvatore, James' younger brother, striding towards her.

Vale narrowed her eyes at him. Now, she's not doing undercover and she already informed James not to send any guards to follow her.

Did he send Sal here to guard her?

"What are you doing here?" she asked in a low voice when he is closed enough.

He grinned, "What do people usually do in the mall?" he asked while leaning back on the racks of food behind him.

"Shopping?"

"Exactly." he clicked his tongue.

"Sal, Baby, where are you?" a feminine voice echoed a bit around the noisy mall.

Salvatore's eyes widen as he looks around them.

Vale was busy scanning the crowds to find out who is calling him when she was pushed back on the racks of food all of a sudden.

"What-"

Her eyes widened in shock when Salvatore hid his face on her neck. His breath was tickling her.

"Don't move," he whispered.

Vale was speechless, to say the least.

"Sal..."

She watched as a blonde hair girl walks past them, three rows in front while calling for Sal's name.

Vale gasped when she felt something wet touch the skin on her neck. She gritted her teeth and dug both of her hands into Sal's hair.

"Argh! Not my hair, please!" Sal moves back as he tries to get her hands off of his hair.

"How dare you do that to me?!" she growled and glared at him.

"I'm sorry-argh!"

Vale winced and let his hair go as he stumbled back and tried smoothing his hair back into position. He groaned when his hair refused to go back to its original shape and sent her a hateful glare, which she ignored.

Vale strolled a bit more around the place taking what she wanted and glared at Sal when he innocently put some snacks and foods into the trolley cart.

"Are you going to pay for that?"

He smiles sweetly before hugging her sideways, "Nope."

Vale shrugged his arm off of her, "Then, put it back." she said, grabbing the foods he just sneaked in and tried to put it back into the shelf.

He swiftly took the food back and put it into the trolley.

Vale crossed her arms and sent him a deathly glare.

"Oh, come on. This is cheaper than the one we saw just now. Plus, I didn't take too many things. I only take one, two... five things!" the big baby said, showing his fingers in front of her.

"Five... things?" she raised her eyebrows.

He pouted, taking both of her hand in his and started swaying them as he looks at her with puppy eyes.

Holy sweet!

Vale mentally slapped the back of her head.

She walks to the payment place while strolling her trolly. A pouting gangster beside her.

"My car is parked near the entrance. Why don't you ride with me? Plus, I'm going to see my little babies." Sal said while they walk to his car.

"Sure...but, in one condition."

"Which is...?"

"Did James asked you to follow me?" she stopped beside his car and turned to him.

"Nope."

"Why are you really here?"

He licked his lips as he looked anywhere but her, "I told you I'm doing shopping."

Vale took hold of his chin and move her face closer, making him tense, "One thing you should know about me from now till the last of your fucking breath...I.fucking.hate.liar!" she whispered the words to him slowly and clearly and saw him gulp.

"I...I was worried about you...so...Uhm... I followed you..." he stuttered as he blushed.

He steps back from her and turn to his side and coughed as Vale gaped at him. His ears had turned red, and she couldn't help but giggle at his reaction.

"Come on now! We're gonna be late," he said, taking a few steps ahead.

She opened the door to his passenger seat when she felt shivers down her spine.

"You're not going anywhere. Not until I'm done with you."
