Chapter 49

854words
"Marcus? You're here?" Anastasia questioned in disbelief. She couldn't believe it. Why was he here? He should be locked up in a dungeon far away from her. Far away from her father. This wasn't the time to make a scene.

"Missed me?" he asked, acting as if nothing happened and being here in front of her was absolutely normal.

"But yo-you're not supposed to be here," she reasoned. "You're supposed to be locked up."

"Time flies fast, sweet Luna, and things have changed. You better keep up."

Just then, Marcus took a step forward, planning to enter her home. But she wouldn't let him. Having no choice, Anastasia quickly closed the door in front of his face, hitting him by the arm. She hurriedly rushed towards her father in the kitchen.

"Papa, call 911! Quickly!"

He stood up with a worried face. "Why? What happened?"

"I'll explain later. Just do it." Before he could dial the phone, she grabbed his hand and pulled him towards the back door.

"Ana, wait. Tell me what's happening."

"I can't explain it right now, but we're in danger."

"Okay. Okay," her father was extremely worried as he dialed 911. As soon as someone answered, he gave her the phone.

"911, what's your emergency?"

"Someone's trespassing our property and he's threatening to kill family."

"Who's trespassing?"

"I don't know him. Please come here as soon as possible. He's going to kill us!" Grabbing a knife from the kitchen counter on her way out, Anastasia helped her father and tugged him towards the back door.

"Alright, sweetheart. Calm down. I'm sending you our nearby protection team right away."

"Thank you." Ending the call, she tightly held the knife behind her back and her father's hand on the other. Before she could open the door, it slammed open with a powerful force. A dark shadow blocked her path of escape.

"Going somewhere?" Marcus teased, as he leaned over the side of the doorway nonchalantly.

"What do you want?"

"I already told you what I want."

"How did you get here?"

"I have my own ways." He shrugged. "I got some help."

She frowned. "What do you mean?"

"You were right, you know," he spoke up, glancing at her face sideways. "You were right about everything. Wendy isn't the traitor. But you were wrong about not killing a sinner."

"Why so?"

"Because as long as I live, you will not be safe. You see, that's what I admire about you the most. You don't tolerate what you don't agree in. You even left the only safe place you can be protected. But I'm glad you did. That gave me a way to get to you." He chuckled. "I guess I should thank you."

Anastasia gritted her teeth. She couldn't believe she was stupid. "Just shut up and get to the point. What are you going to do with us?"

"Oh, don't worry. I'm only here for you. I'll take you away from this mess. Far away from here."

"Then what?"

"You'll be my new mate. Would you like that?" HIs eyes said everything.

"Stop this nonsense," she demanded in anger. It was time she spoke up about this war. "I don't want any part of this. This fight is only between you and Draco."

"But you are the most important thing that ever happened to him. And the most intriguing person I ever encountered. You're very attractive and too innocent for a Luna. That wasn't always a good thing."

Anastasia couldn't take it anymore. She was going to stand up to him and prove to him that she wasn't supposed to be in this mess. She didn't ask to be an Alpha's mate and she didn't ask to be a half human, half werewolf. When would he realize that she was just a victim here? Just like he was?

"I am not something you can just use against your enemy," she snarled in defense. "You have no right to be here. You're trespassing our property."

"I don't think you're realizing something. I'm not a human. Your rules don't apply to my world."

Anastasia stepped back, protecting her father behind her. "I believe you're the one who's forgetting something. You're in my world now." She held her knife tightly behind her back and prepared to strike. "You live by my rules."

Before Marcus could've noticed, she threw the knife straight at him, directed straight to his head. But the enemy was always either too smart or too fast. He barely dodged the attack with a tilt of his head and Anastasia took the chance to rush towards the main door, heading the other way and tugging her father behind her.

"No one has ever gotten the best of me like that." His deep chuckle echoed behind her like a ghost she wanted to run away from. "Run, little Luna! Run!"
