Chapter 48

"I almost forgot the face of my own daughter," her father said in disbelief. He hugged her tight and she hugged him back tighter. Nothing could ever replace this moment. It felt so safe. So right. She wished her mother was here to see it.

"You look different," her Papa said as soon as he pulled back from the long hug they both shared. Anastasia still couldnt believe she was here now with him. If Draco was right, she was truly far from danger now and she could only wish he would be happy too. She needed some time to think about what she truly wanted in life.

"I feel different myself," she agreed with a laugh. Being gone from home for a long time sure did take its toll. She was not that simple girl she used to be. She was now trained to fight and she was sure she could handle any human that would dare try to hurt her. If that time ever comes, she would be more than glad to beat them.

"It's so good to see you again," he said, bringing up on the table a lot of food that he prepared just for her. "I thought I'd never see you again."

She was surprised to see a lot of food already prepared. She didn't tell him anything so how did he know she'd come here tonight?

"Oh, Papa," she sighed, tears pooling in her eyes. "You know I'll always come back home. You're my only family. You're all I got."

"Not just me. Alpha Draco is part of our family too. He took care of you and made sure you're safe on your way here."

She frowned. On her way here? "What do you mean?"

"He called me and said you're coming that's why I prepared all of this. He also sent some of his brothers to look after you on the ride home. That man is very impressive. He never fails to surprise me."

"I can't believe he did that." Anastasia thought he was still angry at her that time. Perhaps she really hurt him so bad. Yet that didn't stop him from making sure she was safe. She would forever be thankful for that.

"Well, Im just glad you're safe now. Eat now so you can rest later. You must've been tired from the ride."

She chuckled. "Alright, papa."

She took her first bite and thought about how much she missed her father's cooks. He was good at this. She vowed she would also start baking tomorrow as soon as she woke up. But for now. all she wanted was some peace and quiet. A normal life. No werewolves. No Draco. No troubles.

"I heard you became a Luna," her father brought up, looking at her with glimpse of pride. "My own daughter becoming a Luna, your morher would've been very proud."

She sighed, feeling guilty, not ready to tell him yet how she abandoned her own duties just to be here with him. "I'm not a Luna anymore, Papa."

"Oh, did you resign?"

She couldnt help but laugh. "It's not a job, papa, but it's mainly a responsibility. I didn't have a choice at first but I found it very entertaining to become a Luna. But not anymore. I don't deserve it."

"Of course, you do. Your mother always said you are destined for—"

"Great things," she finished. "I know but she was wrong. I've been there and I've seen everything. I don't like what they do. I don't like the rules. I'm not fit to be a Luna. This is the farthest I can get."

Her father looked very much worried. "Is something wrong, Ana?"

"No, I.. I just.. they found the rogue and the traitor who helped him get inside. They were caught and tomorrow they will face their punishment — death Draco and I had some misunderstanding and still i couldn't watch a sinner getting killed."

"Oh, I see now where you're coming from. you're thinking you don't deserve to be a Luna If you can't accept a traitor's fate. But your opinion is valid, Anastasia. Don't be afraid to speak up."

"I'm trying but no one would listen."

"You did the right thing. Going back home. You're true to yourself and you don't tolerate what you don't see fit. You're just like your mother."

"Really?"

"Yes."

"Do you ever wonder why she was here with me and not with a pack?"

"I haven't thought about it much."

"Your mother was a rogue."

"A rogue?"

"She ran away from her home and made a knew life of her own. Then she met me, a mere human. For me it was love at first sight but I wasn't sure about your mother. She ran to me for help and I gave it to her without asking for anything in return. I never thought she would actually fall for a simple human like me."

"Papa, you just made me realize something. All that time I was living with werewolves, I was taught that rogues are bad and evil. That all of them are sinners. But now I see, anyone can change and can start living differently. Just like mom did."

"You're right. That's what she taught me too. Everyone deserves a chance to change. However, you must be careful in who you trust. It is true anyone can change, but not everyone deserves the chance to redeem themselves."

"Thank you so much, papa." She hugged him tight bedore rushing to the phone. She should start calling Draco and tell him she was sorry and that she wanted to make things right. She was going to stand with what she thought was right and prove it to him. Truth wouldn't come out if she couldn't make the first move.

Just then, someone rang the doorbell. It was probably the neighborhood's kids who just found out she was now here. She missed the kids so much. They must've grown up a lot. Anastasia quickly rushed to the door and excitedly opened it. Her happy thoughts melted as soon as she saw what lies behind the main doors. Her hands fell and her heart almost stopped in an instant. The man before her smirked evilly with a mischievous look.

Marcus.

"Sorry to interrupt your reunion, sweet Luna, but I'll be taking you home."
