Chapter 196

Sneaking away from the pack house, i used the hidden tunnel that leads to one of the forests across from us to meet up with Ramuel, just as promised. And because I knew Beta Jaxon would forbid me, I decided to not to him about our meeting.
When i arrived in the forest, I coughed due to the excessive amount of carbon dioxide that entered my system as soon as I just got out of the tunnel.
I squinted my eyes. "What.. on earth?"
When my eyes started to adjust, my eyes widened in fear when I saw the destruction before my eyes.
The skies were filled with the color of blood, fires everywhere in the forest. I can even hear screams around me- and all of those were not seen from the inside of RedBloodMoon.
Just what happened? We haven't heard from the outside world only after a day, so how could all these apocalyptic events just happen all at the same time?
I lost my balanced but someone catches me.
"We meet again." Ramuel smirks.
"As promised." I glared at him, pushing him back to stand up more firmly. "Now that we're here, let's get on our business."
"No no. It's too dangerous here, that idiot lord of ours is destroying everything in the mortal world as of now, let's go to a more quiet place." He smiles, reaching out his hand.
Looking at his pale palms, I could only be hesitant due to my distrust towards him. What if he doesn't take me back after i follow him?
I glared at him. "We will talk here, i can cast a barrier."
But as soon as I said that, the ground cracks beneath me, and I almost fell on the lava pit if it wasn't for Ramuel safely catching me in time. He carries me, "Can your barrier protect you from that?"
"Shut up." I groaned in annoyance. Why did the soil crack as soon as I said that? did this guy do it? No- judging from his abilities, he's not someone who can do this.
I sighed in defeat. "Whatever, let's just go. But you better not be thinking about anything funny or I'll kill you."
"Feisty." He smirks before opening a portal beside him. He quickly steps inside and enters the place that i was so familiar with that it quickly made me frown just by looking at it.
The Magnus's Residence- In short, Hell.
"Don't you miss being home?" He says in a mocking tone, his eyes dangerously glowing.
Just like the rumored place of the Vampires, there was no mistaking it. I'm sure I'm inside the Mist territory again. There was no sun present in this place, only infinite darkness that all vampires enjoy daily.
I forced myself down and fixed my dress in the process, i raised an eyebrow. "Well then, if you want to talk inside that hellish place, I don't mind."
He smirks. "Hellish? How upsetting."
Yet even after saying that, he was playfully staring at me like at those times before- but this time. His gaze was more threatening and filled with distrust.
"Upsetting?" I scrunched my nose in disgust. I remembered those days again where he experimented on my body just to turn me into a Dark Witch.
My hands trembled not in fear, but in immense anger yet I chose to contain all of it just to obtain my objective.
He was about to speak if it wasn't for me blocking him, "Nevermind, I don't even want to hear anything about the past anymore, let's just talk about what you promised me."
"I never threw you away."
"I don't care, let's go." I sighed.
After that, he didn't bother to support his words anymore. We silently headed inside the house and went straight ahead to one of the rooms in there, a prepared one at that. I looked at the food laid on the small table for two persons suspiciously.
It was the food he often bribed me with before he did all those horrible things to me.
"What are all these?" I gasped in fear.
"Aren't they all your favorites?"
I marched ahead and aggressively messed up the food on the table, my dress being slightly stained from it. I huffed in anger, "Stop this! just how long do you want to torture me?!"
He frowns. "You misunderstood me."
I was feeling scared that he would lock me up again when I saw those sweets, those mischievous sweets that resulted in my demise. I summoned a poisoned needle on my hands and pointed it to my neck.
His eyes opened in caution. "What are you doing?"
"If you dare lock me up again, I'll kill myself!"
"Stop, I was not intending to lock you up." He sighs, placing a palm on his forehead. "I already promised you right? so stop acting so hostile now."
"Why should I trust you?"
"I don't want you to die. I know you won't believe me, i doubt you even would in your lifetime. So just think of it like this- after all those efforts of saving you, of course, i don't want my work to just easily kill herself in front of me."
Work?
I said in a shaking voice, "That's right, even if you explain it to me all in detail. I won't ever understand or even try to understand you. So let's just talk, stop trying to get on my good side- it's sickening I must say."
"Sure." He replies dryly.
For someone who was playfully smiling earlier, he sat down quietly at the table. I was a bit hesitant but also sat in front of him, our eyes locking with each other, i calmed my breathing after I just threw an attitude a while ago.
"Now then." I start, "Shall we get to business, Sir Ramuel? Since you said you'll tell us everything. Then the first thing I want to know is the objective of doing all of these?"
"The objective?" He places his fingers in his chin. "Hmm, he never discussed it honestly, but we can all tell it in a glance. It was for that girl in the prophecy."
"What? how can a single girl cause the apocalypse?"
He laughs, "Dare not question a devil's mind Syrena. A demon's mind is more cunning even more than purebloods, we can't even fathom to understand them because of how pure their hatred is."
Pure? How can hatred be pure?
I shook my head. "But how? how can he even control the weather? that's what's been plaguing my mind!"
"He chased off the authority of the White witches in heaven, doing so gave him the power to control it. Isn't it obvious?" He shrugs his shoulder.
"What?!" I slammed both of my palms on the table, standing up abruptly. "That's not possible! The gods also hold authority in that place!"
"You never learn," He sighs. "What did I tell you about the gods?"
My eyes widened.
That's it.
"yes.. the gods cannot intervene with their creation's businesses. If they do, they end up getting involved in the wheel of fate." I mumbled to myself.
He clicks his tongue, "Bingo, that is why the gods are staying quiet, it's because they knew that it'll happen in the first place. More than the devil, I might say that the gods are actually the most cunning identities that ever lived in existence."
I can't believe it.
So in the end, everything was falling into place? Just like the prophecy foretold.
My body weakened and I slowly sat down, my eyes fixated on the table, i was so lost in thought that Ramuel had to send a little offensive mana to wake me up.
I gaped, feeling a sting on my left cheek.
"Don't be afraid, the prophecy is not perfect. There was a slight occurrence that changed it a bit. because of that, I can even save you from your fate."
This again, he must be talking about my death.
I grimaced. "how was I supposed to die?"
"Are you curious?"
I glared at him. "Stop beating around the bush,"
His eyes turned serious all of a sudden, a chill running down my spine as I observed his expression. He says in a low voice, "A futile, stupid decision you'll make as you try to save the girl from the prophecy from dying. In the end, you didn't save her, and you only got yourself killed after using every bit of magic left in your body."
My eyes widened.
"After all those efforts I spent on you, how could you be so stupidly fated to die after such stupid behavior? that is why i blocked your meridians." He says, finally able to come up with a smile on his face.
I balled my fists in anger.
Calm down Syrena, this is not the time to ponder about useless things like that. I have to focus on my objective already and get the hell out of here.
"Tell me how to stop Charles."
As soon as he heard my words he started to laugh hysterically. He wipes his fake tears of laughing too hard away, "Pardon me, but what you asked is just too absurd to not laugh at."
"It's not impossible, isn't it? he may be half-demon but he's still a vessel! I'm sure there must be some kind of weakness around him!"
He smirks, "There is, it's the girl."
"What?"
