  ♕ALPHAKING ZYRUS's POV♕

Half of the complaints that I've been receiving have been recently from Crescentine pack. It's mostly about their unresponsive alpha that has been overstaying in my domain. As I scanned the statement on my hand, I just let out a frown.

  Tch.

Looks like the punishment has to end now

I called one of my men to usher Damien's release and bring him to me, and they obediently obeyed and left. As soon as they came back with the kid, they threw him inside my room and closed the door shut behind him.

"There's so much violence in RedBloodMoon, just how do you train those savages?" He grunts in pain, carefully standing up.

I raised an eyebrow. "Looks like you still have the energy to talk back?"

He stutters, "W-Wait! I was just saying! calm down geez. I've spent almost 3 weeks here, I'm really gonna die once I come back to my pack."

  "Good, die then,"

  (ಠ_ಠ) (゚д゚;)- him.

"C-Come on, why are you so hostile? you liked me so much in the past but ever since that arrogant woman-"

  I glared at him.

"I-I mean your woman! your woman!" He says while his hands raised in surrender.

I smiled, satisfied with his answer. "Now you know that she's my woman, you better not cause trouble for her anymore."

"But what if she's the one causing me trouble?" He pouts.

"Then let her cause trouble for you."

"WHAT!" He gasps, "How are you so tolerant of her behavior?!"

Judging by his expression, it looked like he completely disbelieves the fact that I'm giving this much attention to a woman, much less a rogue.

But this is only due to him not knowing my real relationship with her. She's my mate so it was natural for me to be protective of her, and to even let her do whatever she wants.

But lately, has my decision been wrong?

  I sighed, what a headache.

"Sit down, we have things to talk about."

"First, care to tell me first why you're being so biased towards that rogue, I understand if you have needs, but why are you being so protective to a she-wolf who's not your mate? it's ridiculous no matter the angle I see it."

I frowned, "She is my mate."

  His eyes widened.

"She's a stubborn one. An arrogant woman just like you said. She refuses to bend to anyone's will than hers, one would call her strong.. but if you ask me, every time I would look into her eyes, I would see the most sorrowful ones."

  I chuckled bitterly.

  Right.

You've been running away from me for the longest time now Christal, so why?

After those times I spent with you, why would you suddenly go to a place where I can't reach you?

It frightens me how I can't read what's on your mind anymore.

There was a moment of silence in the air around us for a while, my emotions going awry at the thought of her, I couldn't help but feel helpless at where i stand.

This time, I have this bad feeling that she's gonna be gone for good.

I clenched my jaw, not liking that thought.

"I don't know what to say," He sighs, "then please forgive me for being rude to her." He then froze, giving me a skeptical look. "But wait, what about your marriage with the Silverfang she-wolf?"

"Things has been settled during your stay in Maria, so, naturally, you don't know a thing," I replied.

He tilts his head in confusion.

"I've been planning to keep you for a month but since your pack is spamming me with letters, it looks like you have to go back for now."

"Spamming me? that's odd, why would they spam me? That's only a protocol if there's an urgent matter-"

He paused, then his eyes opened. "Wait.. is there something that I should know?"

  I nodded.

"The vampire clans declared war against us," I answer, throwing him the document of the recent attack sites that have recently occurred these days.

He took the paper and scanned it carefully. "What the hell?! those bloodsuckers dared to roam around our territories?!" he growls.

"That's not all, turn the page."

When he did, his eyes widened even more, this time his canines were starting to show.

  I sighed.

"There's a huge uproar going on the Human society, a total of 867 death in just two days- all found with bite marks around their necks. I've also received a report saying almost all the vampire hunters were wiped out in one night before they attacked the humans."

"What? wiped out!? no!" He stands up abruptly, "Damn it if they've been wiped out, then my friends- FUCK!"

He curses repeatedly and slammed a fist against a wall, his head lowering for losing his loved ones.

  I stared at him.

So he had friends in the Vampire hunter community? that's odd.

  "Damien, sit down, there's more."

He turns, "Tell me! tell me all the families that have been wiped out!"

  I frowned, "Damien, calm down."

He's unstable, I already told him that all of them have been wiped out but he still kept denying it.

  Well, I don't blame him.

It's rare for Damien to have friends.

"No! why would you tell me this now?! When did that damned report come?!" He growls at me.

He was being hostile yet I didn't mind it much, since I knew the frustration of not being able to help someone even if you wanted to- even if you have the power to do so.

I let out a frustrated exhalation.

"Even if I did send you back earlier before the attack happened, you wouldn't have known it instantly. You know that the 4 families of Vampire hunters don't welcome guests easily, much less signal anyone for help. The report just came but we're still unsure when exactly the attack happened."

  "Damn! DAMN!"

He stomps towards his seat and sat angrily, grabbing his hair in frustration as he tried to calm himself down.

"The human society is in chaos right now, they don't like the fact that the vampires broke the peace treaty, because of this, even they are being wary to us. The human government is threatening us that they'll cut off their supplies to us if we don't do something to stop those attacks."

Tch, we already have enough problems in our hands, and now this? Those vampires really planned it out so well. Even going as far as to shake the trust amongst the humans and werewolves.

In fact, the reason why it's been peaceful to us was soley due to the human government that kept our identity as a secret from the mass, even if they were accidents that happened that could've revealed our identity, they were helpful enough to cover it all up.

This is why we can't afford to lose this treaty. If we make enemies with humans too, it'll be too dangerous to walk around the human city.

"But why are the humans coming to us? we already have enough problems." He asks.

"You don't get it. The reason why we have to solve this is because of the treaty. One of the conditions was to solve any of their problems regarding the supernatural. If they were to handle it personally, our identity to the humans will surely get exposed, and that is dangerous. If that happens, the treaty will be broken, resulting in world wars."

I put a hand on my temples, rubbing them continuously.

We can't afford to make the humans as enemies, we'll lose too many resources.

"Damn, what the hell is going on? aren't they pressuring us too much? those damned vampires!" Damien growls.

Pressuring us? No, I don't see it like that.

It's more acceptable to assume that they're cutting off any resources available to us to weaken our force since we still hold an advantage over them in numbers.

  Hmm..

I smirked, so that's how they wanna play huh?

  *Knock* *knock*

I mind linked the person to come in. He comes in, closing the door behind him before bowing to my presence. He reports, "Alpha King Zyrus, I've been trying to get in touch with Beta Jaxon but he's not within range so I had to report in person."

I nodded, "That's fine, he's away on a mission so you won't be seeing him these days."

  "Yes,"

"What is it that you want to report? Raise your head."

He slowly raises his head, that's when I finally noticed his panicked expression, his hand was trembling a bit and he was sweating too much.

  I have a bad feeling.

"A-Alpha king! We received a report from Lichen Pack and Litha Moon pack that the hills between our borders with them mysteriously caused a landslide, blocking any entry or exit between us and them!"

  "What do you mean mysteriously?"

"Alpha King, there weren't any recent rainfalls nor any lack of trees in the hills, it can't erode so easily!"

I frowned, another tactic? To think they'll even cut off our escape routes.

The door abruptly opens, revealing Syrena and Jaxon who was panting hard at the door, Syrena didn't waste any more time and ran towards my desk. She yells, "Alpha King! T-There will be an attack tomorrow in Center City!"
