I rushed out my office, bringing along several documents that i just received from all the borders around the continent, some of it coming from other pack territories.
I huffed, catching my breath as soon as i opened the Alpha King's office.
"Alpha King! It's urgent!"
He raises his head, a document on his hand.
"What is it?"
"It's-" My eyes opened wide at his appearance.
Noticing that he looked horrible, his eyes looking sore, and the dark circles around his eyes telling me that he hasn't slept for almost a week now. Werewolves can go about days without sleep, but a week is a limit. Even the alpha king can't battle that limit on his body.
I sighed
"You didn't sleep again?"
"I wanted to, but i just can't." He mutters, his eyes going back to the paper on his hands, "how can i sleep when i can't even stop worrying about her."
I strode towards his desk, placing the reports on his desk beside another pile of endless documents that he have to foresee.
Being an alpha king is really a lot of work, especially when you're governing every pack in the continent.
"You have to force yourself alpha king, things are getting really bad." I shot back, reaching him the most troublesome document that we just received a while ago.
He looks at my hand, "What is it?"
"Vampires," I mumbled, irritated. "There's been a total of 86 attacks just last night, it all happened near each pack territories."
His eyes widen, quickly taking the paper in my hands and scanning it. As i stood beside him, even i couldn't believe the report. The sudden attacks were obviously intentional, seeing that it was all near lands where a pack resides.
We thought it was just a simple matter of kidnapping luna Christal, looks like it's more than that.
After a few moments of reading the two-page report, he crumples it in anger. He stood up, both of his hands resting on his desk. "HOW DARE THEY!"
"It was out of our calculations, Charles is a half-vampire so we didn't really think he could control such a large number of vampires, we were foolish to think that he was just aiming for luna Christal." I gritted my teeth, the anger from my body pulsating at the thought that he has more evil intentions than we thought.
"Fuck!" He curses, ripping the paper into shreds, and i watched all of it fall helplessly on the ground. "Call Syrena! NOW!"
I nodded, complying with his orders and rushing out from his office. Once again, i had no choice but to run at full speed towards the Witch's section in the kingdom. Passing by a lot of werewolves in the way, and ignoring them as they tried to talk to me.
I kicked the door open, some Dark witches gasping at my action. As soon as i saw Syrena, i quickly grabbed her wrist and dragged her away from the room.
"How rude!" She spat, still holding some of her witchy materials. "What do you think you're doing! i'm still in the middle of doing something!"
"No time to explain, the Alpha king is asking for you."
"Why? the last time we talked, he refused to say anything that i wanted to say, what's changing his mind now?" She boldy rolls her eyes, yet i could still see that her hands were trembling a bit.
I frowned.
The last time we talked with Syrena ended with the Alpha king just throwing her out of the room. Even though we didn't continue the operation to save luna Christal, it wasn't actually stopped, we were still planning to save her in a later date after the pack's business is done with.
But it looks like everything is gonna change right now.
I stopped, letting go of her wrist when we arrived at the door of his office. I carefully opened it and ushered the witch to go in, following in after she did.
"Alpha King, i've brought Syrena-"
"SYRENA!" He yells instantly, he was already standing beside his desk. "YOU'VE FINISHED INVESTIGATING RIGHT?!"
Investigate what?
She slowly nods. "I did... but I thought you weren't interested in the investigation, my king?"
I groaned, is she this dense? can't she see that the Alpha king is itching to kill someone? how could she act so boldly in front of him? looks like i have to step it again.
I sighed, "Something happened, you're predictions were coming true, look at this." then i handed another copy of the report, knowing that the alpha king would rip it into pieces if he received it.
I've been working for him for so long, so these things are natural.
She scans the document, making a displeased face. "Provocation, a very effective strategy."
"You were right, this isn't just a simple kidnapping." The Alpha king clenched his jaw, slamming his fist on the wall behind him, restraining his strength so the wall wouldn't break.
"Damn it!" He shouts, "That fucker is aiming for two; my mate and my pack!"
Syrena sighs, "How many times do i have to tell you Alpha? you shouldn't try to predict Charles, you should focus on Christal. Everything that she's doing right now is enough to raise suspicion, at that time when we parted ways, she was determined to kill you, she even went as far as to collude with a vampire- what else do you think she's trying to do?"
Damn it, she brought it up again!
"Rubbish! my mate won't kill me!"
"Alpha King!" Syrena snaps, "I don't care if you kill me right now for shouting back, but can't you see?! this isn't just about you and her anymore! it's about a curse."
The Alpha king growls, the wind pushing us a bit from its intensity. He takes a step forward, making me cut in between them, stopping him from going any further due to his rage.
Argh! now she's done it!
The Alpha king hasn't slept for days, and provoking him right now should be the last thing you'll want to do. This is the topic that angered the Alpha king before, and she's doing it again.
Does she have a deathwish?!
"Syrena go back!" I warned, blocking the alpha king.
His eyes were already dark enough, freeing him would mean instant death to Syrena!
But even with all the chaos that was happening in the office, she didn't yield. She stood firmly on her own ground, and even glared at him.
"Wake up Alpha king! I know you love her, but can you really sacrifice the whole pack just for her?! You'll really die if you continue acting this foolish!"
"Shut up! even if she wanted to kill me, do you think she'll succeed?!" He tries to push me away but since i was holding on to my life, i poured all the energy into stopping him.
"She will." She lowers her head, her eyes widening. "You're the vessel of Alpha King Yasha, having him inside of your body could mean you both have the same body characteristics. Do you know how the first Alpha king died?"
He stops moving, his body stiffening at her words. When i looked at his expression, a mix of irritation and despair hurled around his face.
"That's right Alpha King." Syrena grits her teeth, "He died due to a god-tier weapons- the weapon of the gods!"
Weapon of gods?! What are they all talking about? why is it that i don't get anything at all!
Since he was shocked standing still. I sighed in relief, carefully getting out from the situation, seeing that he have finally calmed himself down.
He looked like he realized something big, making a pained face afterward. "But if she wanted to kill me, she would've killed me in the arena. What's more, she was acting all the time, I'm not a fool!"
That's right, it was suspicious why luna Christal left every werewolf in the arena unscathed. If she was really aiming for his life, then why did she left the scene after breaking his seal?
That's the reason why the Alpha king refused Syrena's predictions for the first time.
"She may be acting! but do you think she's doing it for you?! She's doing it for herself!"
The Alpha king snapped.
In an instant, her neck was already being gripped by the Alpha king, her feet not touching the ground.
"U-Ugh!" She chokes.
"Stop it Alpha king!" I tried gripping his hand away but he only brushes me away easily, my back hitting the wall in impact.
"YOU'VE SERVED HER THE LONGEST! HOW COULD YOU TURN YOUR BACK ON HER?!"
I coughed out, my body on the ground.
"H-Ha! That's the reason why i can say this! IT'S BECAUSE I'VE BEEN WITH HER THE LONGEST! I KNOW HER!"
I gasped in horror.
This witch is crazy!
Forcing myself to stand, i used my remaining strength to run towards their spot. But even before i arrive, the alpha king lets go of her, his head lowering suspiciously.
Syrena coughs, gasping for air.
I quickly ran towards her spot, placing my palm on her back to support her. "What were you thinking?! why would you provoke him like that!"
She smirks, "T-The Alpha king have to think about his decision wisely.. If he continues to be a fool, everyone will die because of him!"
