Chapter 168

My eyes widened, pulling away from her neck when i noticed that she already lost consciousness because of my recklessness.
Before she falls on the ground, i caught her in my arms. Her wound slowly healing in sight, i frowned.
"Christal," I muttered, making a pained expression.
Just how did we come to this?
I've gone so far as to hurt you several times now. The reality is, i'm not even guilty at what i'm doing, i'm only hurt that you kept rejecting me- and the memories we spent with each other.
Did you know? that's the only thing that kept me alive!
I clenched my jaw in anger, knowing that even though she was beside me, she was still that so far away.
Sitting down, i embraced her in my arms, my hands trembling a bit from anxiousness. "You .. you can't keep rejecting me like this. it's still me- i'm still the Charles you know!"
I gripped her shoulders, burying my face on her neck.
I said those words knowing that she won't hear it. As if i was just talking to myself, for i knew very well how much i've changed since back then.
I hate this.
I hate how she kept forcing herself to forget our bond!
Angered, i placed my palm above her forehead and started to cast a spell.
A spell to make her repeatedly go back to our past, yet something made me stop.
A presence.
"Aren't you being too rough on your Queen?" a playful, yet mocking voice emerges from the shadow, and i already know who they were.
"Hush, i told you to give them more time, i wanted the lord to cry ya know."
I turned towards them.
Several families of the Vampire clan appeared after one another, divided into groups, only their pair representative of each family has come due to my instructions.
I knew that they were here, but because of my little argument with Christal, i was foolish enough to forget their presence, my anger blocking my senses.
"His tears would've been wasted- oh right!" Richard of the Griswold family gasps, "You don't have any heart, so how could you cry?"
I glared at him.
How annoying.
Since they were all surrounding us, i had no choice but to entertain the guests, i slowly handed Christal to one of the servants, before turning all the lights back on with a snap of my finger.
"You never know, even the most heartless jerks can fake a tear." Gianna from The Ingram family
"Are you speaking from experience?" - Kian from the Aleister Family
"Shut your goddamned mouth!" She shot back.
"My my, everyone's so lively as usual." Lith, from the Magnus family. lifts his glasses, smiling in effect.
There were six pureblood families currently living inside the Mist territory, and they are known as the most powerful families all around the world. The Ingram, Etienne, Griswold, Eldon, Magnus, and finally the Aleister families.
Each of them have their own unique abilities that make them powerful. Not just that, they are one of the earliest vampires that ever lived.
The purebloods.
"Enough!" I yelled, striding towards my throne, i sat while i looked down at all their displeased faces. "I don't like noise around my place."
Looking at them, i released a great amount of demon pressure around them, ushering them to subdue to me.
"Now," I trailed off. "Kneel before me."
Hesitantly, they all kneeled.
I was aware that they don't like serving me at all since they were just being forced to, their loyalty is questionable but i knew that i could still make use of them.
I smirked, "Did you all receive my letter? i want everyone to make haste about the preparations for my Queen's coronation tomorrow, no one is allowed to even make the slightest mistake!"
"My lord, is it really necessary to invite the Alpha king? i see no reason why we need to concern ourselves with those beasts." Nick from the Etienne Family asks.
"The werewolves is planning a war against us, it won't take long before they start hunting your descendants." I chuckled, "That is why i wanted to meet the Alpha king, perhaps there is something that is making them so aggressive towards us."
At the end of my sentence, i immediately noticed Ramuel, from the Magnus family to change his expression, his face scrunching in irritation.
I smirked, so he knows?
"Ramuel, can you enlighten us what's making you give out such an expression?" I sneered at him, all of them looking towards his way.
"Do you take us as fools? we are very well informed about the prophecy, not all understood it as well as i do that's why it saddens me that you're deliberately hiding your intentions by using us as your tools." His tone sarcastic.
"Oh? But we all agreed about this right? if you serve me, i'll give you the location of the last Sapphire descendant." I grinned, knowing that it was the very thing that's making them follow me.
Even if i defeat all of them, i knew purebloods wouldn't be willing to serve a devil like me, that's why i made us of a more effective method to make them submit to me.
The Sapphire blood.
They all gave an anticipating expression, their eyes enlarging from the sudden thought of obtaining the last blood of the Sapphire descendant.
"Don't mind him my lord! since he doesn't like serving you, might as well cast him aside!" Gianna mocks Ramuel.
Ramuel speaks up in haste towards me, his face still plastered with annoyance. "Forgive me, i take back my words."
I laughed.
It was funny how much they are willing to submit just because of the Sapphire blood that i accidentally encountered in the past, i never thought that she would be so important.
"Anything else?" i asked.
Fabian from the Eldon family scowls. "Regarding the Queen. how do you expect us to acknowledge a demi-god as our Queen? isn't it too much?"
I knew they'll ask that.
I stood up, "I don't expect you to acknowledge me, so why ask that useless question? I don't care about all of your opinions, she'll be crowned tomorrow whether you like it or not."
They stayed silent, a gesture of confirmation.
"Don't forget to prepare some games for our dog friends tonight, make sure they'll keep thinking of us." I smirked, telling them to disturb the werewolf society starting today.
"Do i make myself clear?"
"Yes my lord!" Then they all dispersed.
Again, i was all alone in the throne room. The spacious center and the dark walls of the room making me look at it in displease. Maybe i should've decorated the place more to her liking.
With that in thought, I lifted my hand, swiping it in the air to abruptly change the surrounding. A fresh, and bright ambiance appears and lingers, making it less terrifying than before.
Even though it was just an illusion, it was enough to make her feel less intimidated.
"This should do it." I said, satisfied with the result.
Then i looked beside the empty seat of the Queen. imagining Christal beside me. "Soon, he'll fulfill his promise. So just bear with all of this a bit more.. okay?"
Even in my imagination, she rejected me, turning away in a grievance.
I smiled, a bit pained at the sight.
When i tried reaching out to her, just like she always do, she disappears even at my imagination. The desperate and sorrowful pit inside of me worsening just by thinking of her.
I pulled back my hand, my eyes darkening in dissatisfaction. I stood up and headed towards Christal's room. Upon seeing her, i silently approached beside her.
"I don't know if loving you is a blessing.. or a curse," I muttered.
She was sleeping so soundly that it was the only time that i could tell her my real feelings.
"If i didn't have you back then, then i wouldn't have endured all of those sufferings just to see you. Yet what is this? why is it that when i came back, you're already in somebody else's arms?"
My fists balled.
"C-Charles." She says in her sleep, she sobs. She was breathing too frantically, yet i didn't mind it too much for it was due to my spell that she was muttering my name, as the spell makes her relive those days that i have died infront of her.
I don't regret doing this, as this is the only way you can turn towards me. Even if it's pity, guilt, or sadness! i don't care. If there's a slight hope for you to turn to me, i'll do whatever it takes!
Desperation wasn't enough to describe what i was feeling, it was more like an obsession. Even without a heart, i knew that my love for her has spread towards all the parts of my body, rejecting anyone other else than her to fill the missing piece inside my body.
I don't need a heart, i just need her.
I caressed her cheeks, "I don't allow you to forget me, it won't be long before you realize that i'm the only one who can stand beside you."
Leaning in, i kissed her soft pale lips.
