He looks at me suspiciously, his eyes filled with doubts towards my statement. I coughed uncomfortably, avoiding his awkward gaze that seemed to read my intentions. "What?"
"That guy? you don't know him?"
I shook my head. "First time seeing him."
"Not even some sense of familiarity?"
My eyes squinted. "Hmm now that you talk about it, i do sense a slight familiarity. But i can't remember. Well it's not like it's important anyway."
"Not important? you just cursed him in your thoughts right now."
yeah i just cursed you.
I held out a laugh, remembering that curse was actually meant for this damned Alpha King. I covered my mouth, looking at him weirdly.
"Are you laughing?"
"N-No." I said, teary-eyed from laughing from my insides. Damn it, it's not even that funny but i couldn't help it since he's infront of me and innocently believing everything i'm telling him.
He sighs. "His name is Damien, still hasn't rung a bell?"
I shook my head. "Why do you keep asking? i don't know any Damien or the face he has."
"Even if you're a demigod, i doubt you don't have a great memory," he says, still doubting me.
"Hello? of course i would forget unimportant things, if i really knew him then it must just mean that he was an irrelevant existence to me."
Talking to the AlphaKing was so draining that i reached out to the water beside me, drinking it as fast as i could.
He smiles. "That's right, after all. You did throw him in the dumpsters."
My eyes widened from his statement, spitting out the water i drunk in shock. Thankfully i didn't spit it towards him, he would've instantly killed me. Wiping my mouth, i saw his eyes filled with disgust.
"Dirty."
"What dirty? it was an accident, and it's just water, stop being fussy." i shot back, putting the glass back to the table. "So what is this me throwing him in the dumpsters?"
"He told me he mistook you for someone else, you didn't even deny your identity and just kicked his ass." (See chapter 6)
"Excuse me? I'm not that rude-"
I was cut off when i felt his eyes filled with 'You're the rudest person in this earth.'
"-Fine! i may be a bit rude, but i don't really rememb-"
Then it dawned on me. An image appearing from my mind from a man who mistook me from my doppelganger in the past, seeing that i was utterly disgusted in the memory, i didn't hesitate to throw him in the dumpsters, even laughing at the outcome.
I face-palmed myself. "I just remembered."
"So was that the only meeting you had with him?"
"Yeah? Why would we meet after kicking his ass?"
"Nothing, i'm just asking you since he has the capability to lie."
I laughed back. "So you're saying i don't dare lie to you?"
I suddenly remembered that i was the most capable liar in the life that i have lived, there was no end to how much i lied even towards my mate. If there was someone who had the top score for lying, then it would be me. There really is no better person than i am.
But i can't admit that obviously.
"Well do you?"
I gulped, "O-Of course not! you're right on siding with me, after all i'll be serving you soon as a ranked warrior in the pack." Lying once again.
Well it's not a complete lie.. right?
"You're that confident to pass?" he scoffs. "You even let that kid beat you to this state."
I fumed, feeling my ego crumbling at the thought that i even used some crafty poison to take down my enemy. "I still won though, and that's not gonna change."
"Sure sure, mind telling me now what kind of drug you used?"
I gasped, still not prepared to be ask by that question. Looking at him, he was completely calm about it, making my nerves relax a little to reveal the truth.
"Since you know the truth, there's no point lying anymore." I sighed. "i used purple flower."
Purple flower is the disappearing type of poison that attacks the host body when conscious, it is harmless for supernatural creatures like us. Once you fell unconscious from the pain, it finally leaves your system. So anyone could call it like some sleeping drug- only that it's. painful sleeping type of drug.
His eyebrow arched. "Why?"
Well it's because i was in a disadvantage!!
"It just happened." I smiled.
"It just happened that you used it in a serious battle?"
I gulped nervously. "What are you even asking for? it's not like i harmed him, it's a harmless poison."
He sighs, holding his forehead in frustration. "I should've trained you, you didn't have to resort to this low tricks."
"Low tricks? it was a death battle!"
He glares at me. "You knew yet you still have the audacity to join?! do even know why those kinds of rules were implemented for participants like you?!"
"No! maybe i'm just so stupid that i waltz to join just to die." I gritted my teeth in anger.
I only wanted to prove my strength, but that resulted in my own karma.
i was too reckless, even i admit.
He looked like he couldn't believe that i as arguing with him right now, even i can't stop my mouth from going off on him. I know that he has forgotten about me, but sometimes it really is just hard to understand his behavior like this. When he talks to me, i could feel that he's distant, but at the same time he would send mix signals and stay the whole time here.
i just don't get it, are we really this messed up?
He closes his eyes, obviously holding in his anger. "Talking to you is a waste of time."
"Hah." I scoffed. "Sorry for wasting your time Alpha King, then i can only ask you to leave to not further annoy you anymore."
Damn it, i didn't mean that.
My eyes lands on his hands that were slightly shaking from anger, avoiding my gaze, he stands up. Leaving me alone the room to completely regret my choice of words.
He closes the door shut, loud enough for it to shake the room.
I closed my eyes.
Ah why am i such an idiot? he stayed all this time for you, and all you can do i anger him off??
I banged my head with my palms.
Finally opening my eyes once again, i laid on the bed. Feeling the soft pillow grazing my cheek, i can't help replay the events that happened earlier. Trying to justify my actions, i came up with the conclusion that i was too prideful to even accept the fact that he belittled me like that.
Maybe i misunderstood him, he just obviously cares about my well being. Why the hell did i have to interpret it as he sees me as a weakling?
My prideful behavior is really gonna be a death of me someday.
I was about to fall asleep if it wasn't for the door opening, I immediately jolt up from my bed, inspecting the person from the door.
"Is it my turn now?" He smiles.
Charles.
Feeling alerted, i glared at him. Still remembering the events on that rainy day. He said something disturbing about consuming his own brother. So maybe that was the reason why his behavior was a little off that day.
"What are you doing here?" I glared.
It's not that long since Zyrus left, didn't they meet by chance?
"Don't look at me with that eyes." he frowns. "I'm not here to fight."
i remained silent, ignoring him.
He walks towards the bed, sitting at the chair which Zyrus was before. Smiling at me, he pulls in a paper bag that i didn't see before and takes out one of my favorite foods.
Chicken Teriyaki.
"I see that you haven't eaten yet, i brought your favorite." He said, preparing the utensils.
"I'm not hungry." I replied, uncomfortable with his presence. "Even if i was, i won't be eating anything you'll prepare."
"I didn't put anything on it." He argues.
"I don't care." I shot back. "Even if it's the cleanest food in the world from you, i won't ever eat it."
He looks at me, his eyes wide filled with confusion. "What did i do? You never talked to me like this before."
He's right, i was being very tolerant for him all the time even if i knew his evil intentions. Just because he was my first love, i still couldn't stomach the fact that he played a role in hurting Zyrus and even consumed Herus. Even if i wanted to forgive him, i knew i could never anymore since that day.
He's as good as a stranger to me.
"Is this because of the rain incident? I'm sorry, at that time my power was spiraling out of control." He says, his face apologetic.
"Because of what? because you consumed Herus right?"
"This is why you're angry?" He asked, irked.
"Charles, your brother cares for you even if he's a jerk."
