Chapter 212

I stood frozen in front of the screen, watching the reflection of every camera click on Della’s face as mics faced her.
By the number of reporters in there, I’d say various packs sent their representative reporters to cover one of the biggest news stories this year. After all, the royal family rarely calls for a press conference. They just usually post on their website, and that’s it. Hence, it shows how important this announcement was.
“Della…” I whispered, looking at the woman who looked very familiar to the woman I deeply loved yet wore a demeanor I never imagined I’d see from her.
She looked pale and haggard, but despite the evident pain in her eyes, there was firmness in them. She also held her head high and stood upright. Her expressions were relaxed and dominating, with elegance still radiating all over her. She looked just exactly like a… princess.
“Today, Princess Della and the royal family are here to announce vital news to everyone,” One of the royal family’s secretaries informed, signaling the start of the conference.
One of the reporters excitedly pushed his mic forward, enthusiastically asking the first question, “Princess Della, rumors spread around varied packs that you were married to Alpha Kylian of Dark Moon Pack and pretended to be an Omega. And that a mortifying truth was proven through a live video played at the party, causing your hospitalization. Are these all true?”
Della’s jaws clenched as did her fists that were on her side. Pursing her lips together, she firmly replied, “Yes, it’s all true.”
Commotion filled the place as every reporter became excited, firing questions one after another.
“What happened? Did alpha Kylian hurt you?”
“Why did you disguise as an Omega?”
“Did the Dark Moon Pack really mistreat you?”
“Is Alpha Kylian back with Ms. Flora again?”
“Will you be officially divorcing Alpha Kylian?”
“Princess Della–”
They were still being asked more questions, but the coordinator beside them silenced them after Jackson discreetly signaled.
He moved his hands vertically, palm facing the ground, to indicate that everyone should calm down. “Settle down, everyone. No questions will be answered if all of you are speaking at once.”
Then, he nodded to Della to give her a go signal.
When Della looked at the camera with firmness, a lump suddenly formed in my throat, which I had troubled swallowing. My palms started getting sweaty, and I stared at the screen with great anxiousness as if my life depended on it.
I’ve been in countless battles and encountered many ruthless events before, but none of those could be compared to the anxiety I was feeling right now.
“Please, Della…” I prayed, not even so surely what I was begging for clearly.
The moment I heard the rejection from her lips, I knew my chance to get her back would be very small. Still, I still hoped that she’d eventually forgive me and stay with me as my wife… Hoping that she’d still love me at the end of all this.
But when she looked at that camera with conviction, my heart almost stopped.
Firmly, she answered, “Yes, majority of the rumors are true. Indeed, I disguised myself as an Omega and later on became the Luna of Dark Moon Pack to be with Alpha Kylian.”
Sneering, she continued with bitterness. “I know. It was not a very mature decision.”
“As I was only his chosen mate, I understand and respect the difficulty of Alpha Kylian getting rid of his fated fate. After all, a fated mate’s bond was a very strong one. With that being said…” She paused, making my heart skipped a beat as well as I had a hunch of what she’s about to say.
“No… please no…” I whisphwered while staring at the screen with my head shaking.
“I hereby officially announce the termination of my marriage with Kylian.” Holding Albert’s hands and glancing at him with gentleness, she continued, “At the same time, I’d like to take this opportunity to announce that Albert is my fated mate and my fiance.”
“Princess Della when did you learn that Sir Albert is–”
The reporter stopped her words when Della showed her palm, and interrupted her, “My wedding with Albert will be held three years from now as I’d like to take this following years to recover from a few of my minnow health problems and in dire need og rest.”
I stared blankly at the screen, completely stunned and heartbroken by everything I heard.
She’s gone. She completely drifted away from me…
Not only did she announced that she’s severing ties with me, but she also announced that she embraced her fate with Albert… her fiance…
I wanted to shout, and break things. I wanted to vent. But for some reason, I couldn’t even move. I just stood frozen in there and stared at the screen, feeling my soul and life leaving my body.
What’s the purpose of life if Della won’t be beside me? If I won’t grow older with her?
My hands trembled and the corner of my eyes started to get misty as flashbacks of memories from the past flashed before my eyes.
The days when everything seemed like a paradise. Those days when della nad I were still happy together. Our lips were filled with smiles as we chat all day while having our meals, losing track of time while walking hand in hand around the pack. Sharing those sweet and intimate moments in bed, and those days we’d even train together.
I missed all those days which felt like decades ago…
Those good all times that now seemed like thousands of knives stabbing my heart upon thinking I’d probably never experience that happiness again.
“I’m sorry… I really regret it…” I whispered, finally feeling so regretful that I save Flora. No, in fact, I regret ever even letting her in my life. She ruined everything for me.
My eyelids were getting heavier, my heart was bleeding, and I started having a hard time breathing. I was on the verge of crying, but this stupid position of mine that bound me to a lot of responsibilities forbade me to even cry and grieve for my own pain.
“I’ll get you back, Della. I swore I’ll get you back. Even if I need to move heaven and hell, I’ll do so,” I swore. I might not be a perfect mate, but I’m man enough to fight for the woman I love.
Suddenly, my mother’s outburst brought me back to reality. “How dare she! Even if she’s the princess, she has no right to unilaterally end your marriage!”
“Kylian, this is so unfair for you! Didn’t you just save Flora? It’s not like you did anything wrong! She’s so shallow! How can’t she not understand that? Flora is your fated mate after all? Now that she went out of the shadows and became the princess, she’s acting more arrogant and impartial! She’s really a–”
“Mom, enough!” I shouted, slamming my hands on the nearest thing I had beside me, making her stop and stare at me in shock.
“Kylian–”
“How dare you continue bad-mouthing Della? If you and Natasha didn’t blindly favored Flora countless of times, Della wouldn’t be hertborken!” They have a huge mistake and yet she’s not even seeing it. No, she’s not even remorseful one bit. All she had was her greed which infuriated me even more.
With wide eyes, she asked in disbelief, “Are you blaming me now? I’m your mother!”
“Leave!” I commanded in a firm voice.
“W-what? B-but I am…”
Not wanting to spend more time with her, I continued, “Leave! And if you dare to say bad things about the princess again, I’ll throw you in prison myself!”
I had enough of her disrespecting Della. I won’t tolerate her anymore.
Dumbfounded, she started to complain, “I… I am only complaining on your behalf. But you… You wanted what? You wanted to punish me? How can you do this to your mother?”
“I said leave!” I roared, my voice radiating all over the room that it even shook a little.
Once she was out of the room, I felt all my energy seeping out of my body, and I dropped down on the sofa.
Henry sat on the armrest of the other sofa, looking at me with empathy. “You know you can cry if you feel sad.”
I shook my head, standing firm with my emotions. “What can that do? Instead of useless tears, I’d rather take time to think of what I need to do to get Della back before her marriage in three years.”
With gloom in his eyes, he reminded me, “Della and Albert are about to have a child.”
“I… I broke Della’s heart for Flora and she cheated on me.” Looking at Henry with pain, I added, “She and I are even now…”
I brought her pain and she went to another… I understand and I’d accept it… Unless this way, I pay for my fault, and maybe along the way, the guilt accumulated in my heart would lessen.
“Y-you’ve gone crazy. There’s no way you can get her back again! Not after all this!” Henry exclaimed.
He pointed at the screen and added, “Look at Princess Della. That’s the look of a woman who already made up her mind to end things with you. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have made it public. She’s the princess, and she had the free card to do anything she wants. She can even make sure you can’t see her again in your life.”
His every word struck me like sharp knives.
But, I wasn’t going to give up.
Smirking, I replied with confidence, “I’ll find a way. She’ll see me again and by then, she won’t leave me ever again.”
With that determination, I ordered, “Find every relevant information about Wakeland and help me find something indispensable about that land… Now!”
