“Albert…” I thought in shock while Trisha was jumping in excitement.
How come he’s here? He said he won’t make it? No, what’s more important, how did he become my fated mate?
I was so puzzled right now.
My heart was beating like crazy as our eyes collided. Right at this second, it was as though we were the only one in the world.
Albert wore a nice midnight blue suit and a beige shirt inside. His hair was waxed and styled in a bit messy but stylish look.
Up until now, I haven’t paid much attention to his appearance. But now, I could see how handsome he was.
And his body… Oh damn! It’s probably because of his training and battles in the Wakeland, but his muscles became more evident.
“He’s so hot and charming!” Trisha exclaimed, getting high in zoomies.
He stood so calm and mighty in there, one hand in his pocket and the other at his side.
Staring at him, I couldn't deny Trisha’’s words because what she said was true.
After not seeing Albert for several weeks, he seemed more charming and handsome than ever.
And the fact that he was staring with those firm and affectionate eyes wasn't helping at all.
His presence and stares brought warmth to my heart, making me both excited and hot.
“He’s our mate! He’s our mate! He’s our ma–”
“Shut up, Trish!” I shouted, calming my wolf down.
“Sorry,” she sheepily said before settling down.
“Oh! I get it now!”
“What?” I was confused.
“This is the reason! Albert is our mate. That’s why we saw his face when we were making love with Kylian,” she explained.
She’s right… I thought I saw Albert’s face then because of guilt, but now it all makes sense.
But the second she said that name again, the video we just watched suddenly played on my mind again like a broken record. Hissing, I scolded, “Don’t mention that ass to me ever again!”
Hearing his name was like a play button in my mind and heart that caused pain, betrayal, and hate, cursing through my veins.
“I…”
“He makes me sick!” I uttered in disgust.
I furrowed, feeling the pain in my heart as I remembered the words he used to say to me. He vowed that he wouldn’t hurt me because of anyone, and yet there he was, still having a hard time severing his ties from Flora – the same woman who created a gap between us in the very first place.
All I thought, Flora was completely out of our lives already, and I hated how wrong I was. This time, I won’t be soft-hearted and let anyone take advantage of me.
I was still drowned in Albert’s captivating eyes and my deep thoughts of hatred for Kylian when I was pulled from both of them by a hand that held my wrist, shamelessly pulling me to turn and face his disgusting face.
“What?” I shouted.
“Please… Please give me another chance, Della. Just… Just listen to my explanation. Please…” He begged. He begged over and over again, but I was only blankly staring at him.
His hand slowly slid from my wrist and was attempting to touch my hand, but I hastily pulled away from him as if I was burned.
“Wait! Della, I–” He stubbornly tried to touch me again, but in the blink of an eye, a tall figure came between us, completely blocking me from Kylian.
“Albert…” I whispered.
Butterflies went wild in my stomach as our mate’s presence came closer to us. With us only inches apart, every inch of me was getting excited. Not to mention how his muscles tense while he protectively and possessively stood in front of us.
“From now on, Della is no longer your Luna or your mate. You betrayed her the second you held another woman. You are not worthy of being her husband, much less a mate,” Albert uttered in a dominating voice while holding Kylian’s wrist.
Kylian and Albert stared at each other in fury as their hands fought for strength.
“Albert!” Kylian called in gritted teeth.
“Who do you think you are, huh? You are in no position to meddle with us! Get out of my way!” Kylian broke free from Albert’s hold and furiously pushed his chest to make him back off.
However, Albert only stumbled a few steps back and remained standing, glaring at Kylian. He said with narrowed eyes and a deep voice, “Of course I have the right. I fought tooth and nail for Della, and I never hurt her in any way, especially not because of any other woman.”
Taking a step forward, Albert held Kylian’s collar. “More importantly, I’m Della’s fated mate.”
Almost immediately, Kylian’s hands, which were holding Albert’s hand, dropped to his sides. “What did you say?”
Hearing Albert’s rather loud announcement put not only Kylian in shock but also the entire venue.
“What did Sir Albert say?”
“Did he say fated mate?”
“So Sir Albert is actually the princess’ fated mate?”
Gasps of shock filled the room.
Suddenly, someone cheered and gloated, “That’s amazing! I heard that Sir Albert has the heart of a warrior and is very loyal. He almost died for Princess Della!”
“Yes! I like him for her too! Look, he obviously looked like a gentle and loving person, but that’s not all. He proved how powerful he is when he went to battles at Wakeland.”
“You guys got it right! He’s a whole lot better than Alpha Kylian!”
Suddenly, all the guests were in favor of Albert being my mate, finding him more suitable for me.
But all of that didn’t matter for Kylian, who was deadly and staring at me with disbelief. He shook his head, looking in panic and puzzled. “I-it’s not true, is it? It can’t be.”
His eyes looked red, and regret could vividly be seen glinting in them.
Swallowing the lumps in my throat, I held my head high and wiped off the tears that subconsciously streamed down my cheeks. Bravingly, I admitted, “It’s true. Albert is my fated mate.”
Frantically shaking his head, he denied it, “No! That’s not true. You’re lying. You’re lying so you can hurt me back, right? Yes! That’s probably just it.”
Pushing Albert aside, he passed through him and reached for me. “Della, you are still my legal wife. You can’t leave me because of him!” He pointed at Albert. “Definitely not because of Albert!”
“Hey man, I said don’t touch her!” Albert demanded, pushing him back while protectively pulling me behind him in the process.
“Kylian, you ruined that marriage the minute you broke your promise with the Moon Howlers for the sake of your fated mate.” Gritting his jaw and showing his canine, Albert added, “If that still doesn’t go through that thick skull of yours, I can, and I will fight against you right here and now for my fated mate.”
“Oh yeah? Do you think I’m scared? I’m going to –” Before he could finish his words, Jackson finally intervened and went between them.
He looked between Kylian and Albert, glaring at both of them. “This farce should be long over!”
Shifting his gaze to the guests, Jackson added, “I hereby announce that the relationship between my sister, Princess Della, and the Dark Moon Pack’s alpha, Alpha Kylian, is not completely over! This is an order directly from the Lycan King!”
“No! Wait! You can’t just–”
“Take him away!” Jackson ordered the warriors, who immediately approached Kylian and escorted him to leave.
“Don’t touch me. Don’t you dare!” he threatened, and the warriors, intimidated by his alpha voice, stepped back and kept a safe distance as he motioned Kylian to walk on his own.
Kylian looked at me and vowed, looking deeply into my eyes, “I’ll never give up on you, Della, no matter what. You’ll always be my Luna, and no one else.”
Despite the broken bond, my heart still throbbed as I stared at Kylian’s retreating figure while the warriors guided me.
“What a fool!” I scolded myself under my breath. Over and over again, I had been blind, being fooled by Kylian, who obviously was repeatedly lying straight into my face. I was a fool!
Hate for myself radiated in me as I realized how stupid I had been. I got repeatedly hurt for him, sacrificing my dignity and pride as the Kingdom’s princess… What hurt the most was the fact that I even brought humiliation to my father and brother at the same time.
“Are you alright? You look pale.” Albert came to my side, held my shoulder, and looked down at me.
“No, of course, I’m fine. I’m just…”
“Della! Della!” Albert’s panic shouts echoed in my ears as I let out a nerve-wracking scream as pain radiated in my abdomen.
“No!” I shouted further when I felt wetness on my legs.
Tears streamed down on my cheeks and my heart throbbed in an unimaginable pain as I realized what was happening.
“No! Our connection with our pup is weakening! It’s in danger!” Trisha exclaimed.
My baby…
