Chapter 186

Fae stopped in her tracks and stared at me with blinking eyes, scrutinizing what was happening and looking as confused as ever.
“What did you say?” she asked.
Sighing, I repeated, “Do you think I’m cruel?”
“Why would you ask something like that?” she asked in a gentle voice before continuing to approach me.
With her arm wrapped around my shoulder, she maneuvered her body to face me. Staring deeply into my eyes with so much understanding, she sweetly replied, “You will always be the best woman and friend in my heart.”
“Come on, let’s have some coffee there and talk about whatever this is properly, okay?”
Fae didn’t bother to wait for my reply and just grabbed my wrist, pulling me hastily toward the cafe across the hospital.
“Thank you,” I replied respectfully after a waiter sent our ordered drinks to the table.
“So, what happened? Why do you look like that? Guilty, miserable, and all?” she asked after putting down her cup of cold latte.
“It’s about Albert,” I admitted with a deep sigh.
Instant, as I’d expected, her eyes opened wide as if they would bulge out of their sockets.
“Albert? What happened? Did you realize his worth already?” Excitement was evident in her voice as she leaned forward, giving all focus to me.
“Jackson told me the truth…” I started narrating my conversation with Jackson and Albert to her.
I sighed, ran my hand on my hair, and leaned back to my chair. “Any time now, Fae. Albert made sacrifices for me that were beyond my imagination.”
After I told her everything, she was so shocked that she almost dropped her drink. Seconds had passed, and she was still frozen and in a complete daze.
“W-wait… wait…” she stammered, raising both her hands in surrender and looking at me with her mouth hanging open.
“So, are you telling me that you know already that Albert got into a coma?” she asked again as if what I narrated wasn’t clear enough.
I heaved a sigh. “For the nth time, yes, Fae.”
“So… Are you giving him a chance now? If you have already knew how much he loved you!” she expectantly asked, looking at me with those big puppy eyes, her head supported by her palms.
“No… I… I can’t…”
“You can’t?” She grabbed her coffee and gulped it in one go before slamming it back to the table as if preparing to enter a war.
So dramatic!
“Have you ever tried to consider it?” She leaned forward to the table and looked at me gently, saying with sincerity, “I think he loves you, Della. More than Kylian ever did. Can’t you really consider it?”
I played with the tip of my glass, looking around the room as my mind drifted to my moments with Albert and as I replayed in my head all the persuasive words sent to me by everyone around me.
Finally, I asked, “Why do all of you seem to want to push me to Albert?”
Fae let out an amused laugh and shook her head before saying, as a matter of fact, “Because everyone aside from you can see how much he cares and loves you.”
When I remained silent, Fae knocked on the table to grab my attention and sighed.
“Look, let me remind you of a few things that may open your eyes, which have been so blind for so long,” she patiently said.
Narrowing my eyes, I spoke, “Stop being over the top already.”
“For real, though. When you’re all broken and hurt after what Kylian did to you by prioritizing Flora, we went out, and that’s the first time you've met Albert. Can you remember that?” she asked sternly. I had no choice but to look back at that moment.
That night, I went out with Fae, and that’s when I first saw Albert. With a glass of wine in his hand, he was laughing enthusiastically while being surrounded by numerous women wearing clothes that seemed to have lacked fabric.
Everyone was eying him, ready to form any kind of relationship with him, and Albert seemed to share their interest, knowingly flirting back at them.
Nodding my head, I replied to Fae with a small laugh, “Yes, he’s quite a playboy then. Wasn’t he?”
“Yes, exactly!” Fae clapped her hand. “Okay, then, after you became friends with each other. Have you seen him with another woman again?”
I squinted my eyes, trying to recall all the moments I’d been with Albert. In the end, I could only shake my head. “No…”
At the back of my head, Trisha also reminded me, obviously trying to persuade me to change my mund as well. “Also, remember how he firmly disagreed with being intimate with Nancy, even if it meant that he’d die. Della, that’s how loyal he is to you.”
“See… Because he’s loyal. He became loyal the moment he knew he liked you.”
“And who’s Albert?”
I laughed. “Why are you even asking that stupid question?”
“Just answer me.” Her voice went high. Okay, she’s serious.
Nonchalantly, I replied, “He’s an Alpha heir.”
“Exactly! Someone as important as him risked his life for you and went right to danger by going to Wakeland for you. He went there even when his parents and sister tried to stop him.”
She looked at me gently and continued, “He went and risked it all because he’d do anything to give you a peaceful life.”
She stood and went to my side, holding both my shoulders. With furrowed brows and sympathetic eyes, she leaned in sternly and vividly repeated to me, “Albert loves you, Della. He loves you a whole lot more than Kylian.”
I stared at Fae for a little while before I gave out a sad smile and looked away. “I know,” I murmured.
“What?” she asked.
“I know… I know, and still… And still, I want to be with Kylian…” I replied and looked down at my coffee again.
My heart beat fast as it throbbed with guilt. I had never felt so determined about something while feeling lost.
With Fae and Trisha’s persuasion, I couldn’t help but see how unfair I’d been with Albert.
After hearing my last words, Fae backed away from me, sighed, and shook her head while her shoulders dropped in dismay. “Poor Albert… He was stabbed in the heart with a silver spear while on duty at the Wakeland, but right before he fainted, all he was worried about was still you.”
Then… Fae suddenly let out a bitter smile before looking back at me. “Do you know? He even told his Beta that if ever he dies, he should bury him somewhere in the high land of the kingdom so he can still see you from there? Even after he died, he will love you forever!”
My breathing instantly stopped upon hearing that, leaving me utterly shocked.
