Chapter 173

Kylian’s POV

“What’s the status?”

“The Alpha of Crimson Pack doesn’t deserve to lead any pack!” Henry rushed inside my office, shaking his head and clenching his jaw as he dropped a folder on my desk.

Grabbing it, I opened it and saw a profile of an omega who looked like she had been beaten so badly to the point that her world couldn’t even manage to unilaterally heal her.

“Who’s this?”

“She’s Hazel Watts, the maid who cleans the room of Crimson Pack’s Alpha. I paid her for some inside information but never thought I’d be ready to hear such things.”

The veins in Herny’s neck were almost popping. He looked like he was ready to kill, in fact.

With furrowed eyebrows, I flipped through the file and had the same feeling of disgust.

“Damn!” I cursed as I read her medical file.

Hazel was only twenty years old when she lost her parents in an attack. Not only was she captured to be a maid of their alpha, but she was also used as a punching bag.

Her every little mistake was tantamount to a punishment worse than what thieves in the Dark Moon Pack were receiving.

Letting go of her file, I asked, “Did she say anything important about our collaboration with them?”

“That’s the other bad news.” He sighed in dismay.

Feeling the weight of another burden on my shoulder, I leaned back on my chair. “The new batch to deliver today is laced, isn’t it?”

“What should we do?” His reply was more than enough to confirm my intuition.

I pursed my lips and let out a frustrated sigh. “What more choice have we got? We face it head-on. We have made adequate preparations. Once Crimson pack violate the agreement, stop the purchase immediately.”

Henry nodded and said in agreement, "Fortunately, you asked me to send people to the Crimson Pack to investigate secretly in advance. As long as we are fully prepared, everything will be under your control."

"And one more thing."

I held my chin and looked at the folder aside, “This is a direct order. Remember, starting today. You shall direct your reports to me if any situation at the border occurs.”

There were Luke's men in the pack. I must keep everything at border under my eyes and handle it personally.

I licked my lips, staring anxiously at the clock as it moved its hands, counting seconds, minutes, and hours.

As soon as it hit three in the afternoon, I couldn’t hold my worry any longer and stood in frustration, phasing around. “Why is there still no news?”

The delivery should have been made half an hour earlier, making it extremely weird that it’s still quiet from the border.

“Did something go wrong? Should we go there and check?”

“Alpha, don’t worry. The border guards were all very diligent in their words. Maybe Hazel’s information isn’t as accurate as we think it is. The drugs are probably all clean.”

Henry tried to comfort me, but I couldn’t remove this indescribable uneasiness that was filling my troubled heart.

The inspection personnel whom I trust with their expertise… It’s unusually quiet, which makes me think that some problem happened.

‘It can’t be that they’re in danger, can they?’ I thought, licking my lips and brushing my hand over my head.

“No! Something is definitely wrong,” I firmly said, striding fast toward the landline to make a call.

But as I raised the telephone and was about to dial, a distress call in Mindlink made me feel like I had been struck by lightning.

“Alpha?”

“Della?”

Henry and I muttered at the same time. He was worried when he heard the sound of the phone falling, while I was baffled when I heard Della’s series of words over our mind link.

“Kylian!”

“For goodness sake, Kylian! You better come in the inspection house!”

“Kylian!”

What? She’s at the border? I…

I was momentarily shocked, but my wolf woke me from a daze. “Move it! What are you waiting for?”

Instantly, my body went into a fight-or-flight situation and chose both.

“Fast! Call the border agent!” I instructed with urgency as I pointed at him.

“What? Why I…”

“Just do it!” I shouted. How could I not? He looked so confused and was taking forever to act!

Jolted, Henry frantically nodded and started making calls, but he shook his head after a few seconds. “No one’s answering.”

“Fuck!” I cursed and rushed to the door. I was holding the knob and ready to open when I froze a second later after hearing a loud debate.

A soldier scoffed. “Huh, Della really thought she was still the Luna! How dare a woman like her, who’s about to fall back to being an omega, actually dare to order the warriors and the soon-to-be Luna?”

My eyes widened. What did that mean? Did Della come here?

Afterward, I heard the familiar voice laced with a facade of timid demeanor. “Don’t say that. I still respect Luna Della as Luna. After all, Kylian hasn’t officially announced me as her Luna until she leaves. I only didn’t let her in because I’m worried she’ll disturb Kylian and Henry’s discussion.”

It’s Gianna. Bitch!

“Right? She should know her place! How dare she raise her voice on you and act so arrogant?”

With a sweet and delicate voice, Gianna replied, “Thank you so much for helping me earlier to make her leave. I was so scared. She looked so angry like she was about to cause trouble again.”

“You are really brave…” The soldier comforted Gianna gently.

“Because I’m a lowly omega, I know how she felt. I feel sorry that she’s going to be an omega again. But that’s not enough reason for her to hurt the Alpha.”

“I’m sure that the Alpha will understand you. You’re a gentle and kind woman, while that woman is nothing but a selfish and stupid bitch. Don’t blame yourself. She deserves everything she’s facing now.”

My breathing became heavy. I thought nothing would happen if I kept Gianna from getting inside my place. I didn’t expect Gianna to be such a cunning thought that she still managed to manipulate things outside.

“I should have killed her long ago!”

“What the–”

Henry was standing behind, so shocked at what he heard as well.

Looking at his face, it’s clear she didn’t expect her to say those things either.

“This is to be expected. Gianna is Luke’s spy here. She’s doing it for him.”

“Alpha–”

Before Henry could step forward to stop me, I opened the door to reveal Gianna and one of the border guards talking so close, blocking the door.

“Alpha…” Gianna and the guard started speaking, but my vision had all turned red.

I strode fast with Gianna as my target. I raised my hand and strangled her neck, pushing her to the wall.

Lifted up, she turned blue as the veins in her neck popped. She tried to shout for help, but with the pressure I had on her throat, not even a sound from her could be heard.

With narrowed eyes and a murderous voice, I said, “Go to hell.”

She held onto my wrist, trying to push me away and free her, but it was all in vain.

Shifting my eyes to the side, I said to all the bystanders that had already formed around us, “My mate and your Luna, Della, is out there, putting her life to save all of our personnel at the border because these two stupid useless morons stopped the border guards from reporting to me!”

Staring at Herny, I ordered, “Behead them!”

With that, I threw Gianna on the ground. She miserably coughed while holding her neck and crawling back away from me with tears streaming down her face.

“You!” The guards faced Gianna anxiously. “You said you’re the future Luna! That I need to obey your orders! How can this happen? You better help me!”

Shameless!

Processing the severity of the situation, Gianna crawled on fours and shook her head. Holding onto my trousers, she begged, “No! Don’t believe him! It’s his doing! I didn’t do anything.”

Claws and canines showed on the guard as he roared furiously at Gianna. “Don’t fucking lie!”

“Stop it!”

“Take them away! Are you all deaf? Bring them to the dungeon,” I said, glaring at the guards on the side.

Once people rushed forward to hold them down, the panic that was forming in my chest immediately exploded as I turned around and ran as fast as I could.

Those assholes could wait later! Right now… What mattered most was to see my wife alive.
