I leaned back at my seat, merely observing at my surroundings while waiting for the result. I wouldn’t deny that I was nervous, but who wouldn’t?
Luke had engage with many battles and cooperated with various projects with the elders back when he was still the Alpha. If he asked them to vote the Crimson Pack and it became the supplier, it would bring the Dark Moon Pack in a devastating situation.
I crossed my arms over my shoulders, and sat upright with my head held high. Though I was anxious, I believed in myself. My speech and the evidences I provided earlier was enough to turn things around.
If they still vote for Crimson Pack after that, then I fear that they were nothing but foolish leaders.
Real leaders must think of their pack members first before anything else. Letting themselves be a puppet of Luke’s words make them only incompetent voters.
My heart was pounding and my eyes were intensely looking at Dominus as they check and count the votes when I suddenly felt a warm and huge hand engulfing mine.
My heart beat faster. Glancing at my side, my met eyes with Kylian who’s eyes were intensely staring at me.
In a matter of seconds, it suddenly felt like we were the only two in the venue. “It’ll be fine.”
I swallowed in nervousness. “Tha–”
I was about to say my thanks to him for trying to comfort me when a cough suddenly took everyone’s attention.
Almost an instinct, I pulled my hand away from him and paid attention at the center of the room.
Dominus was now at the center of the room once again. “Thank you for your patience, everyone. It’s my pleasure to announce that the winner for today’s voting is…”
He looked around, increasing the suspesnce before continuing, “Crimson Pack!”
W-what?
My eyes widened and my mouth hang open in utter disbelief.
Crimson Pack won? What the fuck? Were they all really that foolish? Agh!
“That ends the voting.” After Dominus saying the room became filled with a series of claps. Then people stood up and started to leave.
"Wait! No...Elder Tom..." I tried to stop them, but no one stopped.
I started to feel sad as soon as I thought about the puppies and werewolves that could be harmed by medicine from Crimson Pack.
"Wait! Please, wait a minute...we still need to discuss it some more!" I'm trying to make a last-ditch effort to stand in front of a few elders.
"Luna Della, this is the result of the vote. According to the pack law, there is nothing we can do." Elder Walt looked at me apologetically, bowed and left.
I could do nothing except for looking at his back helplessly. Is there nothing I can do to save them after all the efforts I've made?
Luke, who was also came to the gate, stood by my side with arrogance. “A weak omega like you should never dream that you can change something just because of your few useless words! The world is not as simple as black and white.”
“Do you think you can ruin my plan? Dream on, little omega.” his sarcastic tone irritated me.
My hands and jaws clenched in anger. Calm down Della…
How I wanted to rip that smirk out of his monstrous face!
Straightening my back, I let out a sigh and gave him a sarcastic smile. “I didn’t expect you to be so shameless, Sir. Luke.”
Walking closer, I wiped the smirk from my face, and sternly added, “It isn't over yet. I’ll make sure that you’ll pay the price for what you did.”
‘Soon, I’ll get evidence of you taking bribes,’ I added in my mind. I’ll have it as soon as I could, and intervene in this situation. I must save those innocent werewolves that they jeopardize for Luke’s personal gain.
Luke smirked. “Don’t be too full of yourself, bitch.”
With that, he turned and left with triumph.
Once Luke and the elders were out of sight, did I only let myself feel sad. The mere thought of what would happen to the pack made me feel devastated. Though they bullied me, there were still those innocents who would be in danger.
Adults would be addicted, and pup’s growth would be affected.
When I felt a hand on my shoulder, I turned and met eyes with Kylian.
“Are you okay?” he asked.
When I remained quiet, he added, “You did your best. Della.”
Taking a deep breath, I looked up at him, and asked, “Is there no way for you to change the results?”
Kylian also looked devastated.
He looked down with dejection and shook his head without energy. Sitting back down with his hand engulfing mine, he replied, “I can’t do that. According to the pack law, even if I’m the Alpha, I can’t be dictatorial.”
“But the pack members will suffer! The Crimson pack is not to be trusted.”
He tightened his hold on my hand, and stared deep into my eyes. “I know that you’ve tried your best, but the result is out and we must respect it. I’m really sorry.”
I didn’t know that there were already tears streaming down my cheeks until Kylian raised his another hand and wiped it dry.
If only he could wipe the pain which radiated in my heart as well.
“No. We must do something. I must…” I murmured in anxiety.
Kylian stood up and immediately wrapped his arms around me, engulfing me with his warm.
Momentarily, I placed my head on his shoulder with my arms hanging on my side.
“Let me send you back.” he said.
I shook my head and took a deep breath, whispering, “Thank you, but I want to be alone.” With that, I pushed him away. “I’ll leave first.”
After than, I grabbed my purse, turned, and went out of the venue.
As soon as I passed through the door, I was blocked by a very anxious woman.
“Della…” Stella had her arms spread open, literally blocking my way.
I put my weight on my one side, and crossed my arms over my chest. “What?”
“Please, talk with me…” She stared at me, eyes full of fear and pleading. And when she saw that I won’t budge, she immediately walked closer to me and desperately grabbed my hand. “Please…”
