Chapter 114

Upon mentioning Ralph, I saw how Kylian’s eyebrows furrowed.
He also tilted his head very slightly, which would go unnoticed if there were any other people in front of him. It’s his subconscious gesture whenever he feels weird about something.
I guess it was because he also had heard about Ralph before as well.
Ralph’s name was well-known on every pack despite his humble status, which gave him some sort of privilege. Unlike other unranked pack members, he’s treated quite differently.
Once recovered, he leaned back on his chair. His slender fingers tapped on the table, one after another, making a clicking sound.
Staring at me with piercing eyes, he asked, “Why did you suddenly want to invite him?”
Maybe it was because of the obvious jealousy in his tone, my wolf complained uncontrollably in my head, "Oh my Goddess, he doesn't think you and Ralph are having an affair, does he?"
This did sound like something Kylian would do.
I shrugged and explained, “Like I said, I suddenly became interested in ships these days. Nothing else.”
At the back of my mind, I was smiling.
I couldn’t tell him the real reason. If I were to tell him directly that Ralph was Stella’s fated mate and Stella approached him for some hidden purpose, he probably won’t believe my words alone.
Hence, I thought that showing the truth to his own eyes would be a better plan.
He raised his eyebrow at me, still in confusion. Nonetheless, he let out a sigh of defeat. “Fine, you can call him. I’d issue an official statement that he’s allowed to enter the pack.”
“Great! Thanks,” I said with a civil smile.
Once again, we were enveloped by silence. “If there is nothing more, I’ll…’
“There will be a vote...,” he interjected hastily.
When I looked at him in confusion, he continued, “This year's medicine provider has not been decided yet. According to the traditional, we plan to hold a pack meeting to vote. As my Luna, I hope you can attend with me...Will you?”
I was stunned for a moment by his suggestion.
And when I recovered, I inevitably let out a bitter smirk.
He wanted me to join the pack’s meeting?
As Luna and part of the committee, I do have the right and obligation to attend the pack meetings and vote on the pack affairs. But……
In all the years of our marriage and being together, I never attended.
To be precise, Kylian never allowed me to participate.
I used to wish I could attend once and sit by him side as his Luna, smiling to my members and supporting my mate’s decision. But never.
Now he was willing to when I was about to divorce him. How ridiculous. I am no longer interested in such things already.
What’s more, as far as I know, Dark Moon Pack imports drugs from a stable supplier every year. They’re our long-term ally, very reliable, so the annual decision-making meeting is just a formality.
What’s the difference this year?
Leaning on the backrest of the seat, I crossed my arm over my shoulder, and said, “Why now?”
“What? What do you mean? I–”
Obviously, Kylian started to panic because of my attitude, as if he wanted to explain something.
Unfortunately, in my eyes, any of his explanations were so feeble. When Flora was here, he didn't give me the dignity that Luna should have. And now, I don’t need it.
I took a deep breath and said calmly, “Kylian, you never once took me to a pack meeting. It’s always been like that. What’s the use of me coming now? We’re making our divor–”
I was suddenly stopped from continuing to say that we would get divorce anyway when he immediately stood up from his seat and leaned his entire upper body on his desk, crossing the gap between us.
His right hand was on support on the desk while his other hand reached out and held my nape,
pulling me into a nerve-wrecking kiss.
He used his tongue to pry open my teeth, stuck his tongue in and stirred it, blocking my words back in my throat.
When I was stunned by shock, Kylian completed his deep kiss. But he still didn’t let go of me. He kept his hand on my nape and kept his face only two inches away from mine.
I could barely breathe at such a close distance. But he's not done yet.
Looking deep into my eyes, he spoke with his breath fanning my mouth. “This time, it’s different.”
My heart was beating way too fast, and my breathing accelerated as if I was running a marathon.
Trying to keep my cool, I tried my best keeping my eyes on him, and replied , “Yeah, right!”
His hand went from my nape and slid to my cheek as he used his index finger to place my loose hair to the back of my ear.
Then, he explained to me tenderly, “We are in dispute about the pack supplier because dad made some new suggestions to change the supplier to Crimson pack. I want you to attend as the pack’s Luna and share your views.”
“Me and my dad can’t come to a conclusion because of our different views, so I really hope you can come and help. It’s a very important matter for the pack. I need your support, and…”
He leaned an inch closer. “I want everyone to realize that you’re my Luna… our Luna.”
I was stunned, because of his scent and his reasons.
So, that’s his reason.
He wanted me to come to show everyone that I was their Luna. It was his way of clarifying to everyone that they had no right to bully me.
Obviously, he already learned what happened in the canteen- that even the omegas dared to attack me, and I suffered from unjust treatment.
Up until now, my position as Luna was nothing but a useless title because of Flora’s presence, which gave the others an unwritten right to bully me.
Now, if I were to participate in the internal affairs of the pack, I'd regain their respect, what I wanted for years.
I looked deep into his eyes… He looked so full of genuinity and… love.
Too bad, it’s all too late.
Looking away, I pushed him as I moved back.
Flashes of the past memories flood me like a tsunami.
I remembered one day, there would be a pack meeting in about an hour, and I was waiting downstairs for Kylian to arrive.
When I realized that he was taking too long, I went upstairs and was about to knock at the study room when I heard sniffles of cry inside the room where Flora was staying.
Out of curiosity, I couldn’t help but walk closer to there. From the outside, I could hear her complaints and cries.
“Drama queen,” I whispered and rolled my eyes. I was about to walk off, when I heard Kylian’s voice from the inside.
“How’s your fever?” he asked in a voice filled with concern. I didn't remember what he said to me.
As if my feet had its own mind, I walked back near the door and listened.
“I feel so weak…” She coughed weakly. “Kylian… I’m so cold… I don’t think I can even stand…” Her words were followed by cries, and I could already imagine Kylian’s face as he worried about her.
I heard them talk more, where Flora was mostly acting like she’s dying with a little fever, before I heard Kylian bidding goodbye. “I’ll have someone take care of you. The meeting is about to start.”
Followed by that was a series of footsteps.
Like a sinner, I was far from, I ran in a tiptoe and went back downstairs.
“You ready?” I casually asked as he climbed down.
“Della, you stay here to take care of Flora. She’s sick and can’t be left alone. I’ll vote on our behalf.” I was left dumbfounded as he said that without an ounce of care or respect for me. He just decided on his own and left, giving me no chance to retort.
With unwillingness, I grabbed medicine from the cupboard and went to Flora’s room where I found her sitting comfortably on her bed with her back on the headboard.
“Here’s your medicine,” I said as I placed the medicine and a cup of water on her bedside table.
She looked at me with a smirk, and uttered without pretense, “If I can’t vote, then so can’t you. You’re just a mere omega, and Luna's position is rightfully mine.”
Remembering those awful moments gave me mixed feelings.
All I wanted before was attention from him, but that’s all gone. I didn’t need it anymore.
Now, I was strong enough to be on my own. I could now protect myself even if I’m not Luna… His Luna.
I shook my head in dismay, about to refuse the meeting.
But I suddenly felt like I had heard the name of Crimson Pack somewhere before.
I searched hard in my memory and finally remembered where I had seen this name before.
Albert had mentioned several times in his emails that the Crimson Pack had some kind of conflict with Drake, the Rogue King, and was notorious in the Wakeland.
I need time to look up the specific reasons but it was obviously not a good choice compared to the previous supplier.
Then why would Luke choose it to be the supplier?
The more I thought about it, the more strange and worried I became. It could be a dangerous tactic that may jeopardize the entire pack.
My heart sank.
“Della? Please?” Kylian, once again, pleaded at that time.
I sighed, “Okay. I will go.”
After all, I’m the princess of the Kingdom and I wouldn’t want to see any chaos.
