Chapter 113

Della’s POV

I was waiting outside Kylian’s office. Since I wanted to talk to him and I came here in haste, I didn’t have the time to make an appointment with him or message him about my arrival.

Outside was one of the warriors.

“I’d like to talk with Kylian,” I announced.

He gave me a slight bow of respect. “Luna, I’ll see if Alpha is here.”

I merely nodded in reply.

“Why are we even here?” My wolf, Trisha, was once again complaining.

Well, she got the right too. We both made it clear that we won’t involve ourselves in anything about the pack, and most importantly anything that would concern Kylian and Stella’s relationship. However, I couldn’t help it.

Stella’s behavior was way too suspicious for me to set aside. Obviously, she pursued Ralph so crazily before and didn't even care about his identity as an omega, but now she easily turned her target at Kylian. This is so strange.

The worry that was building up on me was eating my conscience, telling me that I had to at least warn Kylian.

If I had even a slight suspicion and won’t do anything about it while Stella causes Kylian and the pack any harm, I’ll feel like I partake in her plan and would have to carry the burden of guilt when the time comes.

“I came here not because we still have feelings for him. Whether we like it or not, we were and still are the Luna of this pack and we can at least care for those innocent members of this pack.”

Trish sighed. “Fine, as if I can't stop you.”

Just in time, the warrior guarding his office came back. “Alpha is waiting for you in the office.”

“Thanks.”

As I was to walk inside, the door opened, and Henry came out. As usual, he looked at me with hostility, and warned, “Remember what you promised me.”

Rolling my eyes, I replied with annoyance, “I won’t.”

It just became annoying now. He’s always going on about that, after I’ve been very firm on my words with him before.

I knew exactly what he was thinking. When he found out that I was pregnant, he immediately assumed that I was carrying another man's pup, and that I had whore around. He didn't even bother to ask.

Wanting to continue the divorce anyway, I promised him that I'll leave.

Henry narrowed his eyes on me. “You better or else..”

“Or else what? Nothing. I suggest you stop with your useless threats anymore, Henry. I'm getting fed up on it already. You're no boss of me,” I replied and walked past him.

I was done being pushed around by everyone in this pack. It's time I protect and fight for myself… and mh pup.

Opening the door, I immediately saw Kylian sitting behind his desk.

He looked… like he did before again. He seemed so haggard. As much as I wanted to control myself, I felt this undeniable feeling of worry.

With a dead look in my eyes, I casually asked, “Are you okay?”

He looked at me with shock, probably not expecting that I’ll be asking him.

Nervously, he replied, “I.. Y-yes, I’m fine. Don’t worry about me. H-have a seat.”

He motioned toward the seat in front of his table, so I walked forward and made myself comfortable.

WIth a raised eyebrow, I asked with skepticism, “What happened?”

It’s obvious that he was not fine, but he still dared to lie, and he’s very bad at it as of the moment. His incoherent words were giving him away.

Shrugging his shoulder, he replied in a fast tone, “It’s fine really, I mean I’m used to it by now. It’s Luke. He’s just mad because of you so he vented out. And then —”

He stopped, realizing how he had slipped his tongue. Shaking his head while trying to be convincing, he added, “I’m fine. Really. It doesn't matter anymore.”

I started fiddling with my fingers. Though his words were a bit inconsistent and his words were in a circle, I understood it. He’s hurt, once again, because of me.

Uncomfortability filled me as guilt swept my heart.

“Indeed, it’s best for us to break up,’ I thought.

There were too many people who were standing between us. We’ll only cause each other much more pain, intentionally or not.

My eyes wandered to his every part, scanning how severe his injuries were. Luke was indeed a monster. He won’t even go easy with his own son.

“As if that’s enough payment to the pain he gave us,” Trisha complained at the back of my mind.

Of course, that’s who she was. She’ll just pop out whenever she has a complaint, and vanish as soon as she says her words.

Nonetheless, she’s always right. I shouldn’t waver. No amount of physical pain could pay for the pain we experience from him and everyone around him.

And whatever that was, it’s not something that could solve the huge torn between us.

‘Della, don’t forget all your past suffering. You suffered more than he’s getting now. Remember, you have different purposes in coming here,’ I scolded and convinced myself.

Once I conditioned myself again, I just looked at Kylian and nodded nonchalantly.

He stood up and went to the small fridge and took out a plate of strawberries. Placing it on the table, he said, “I prepared your favorites. Do you want to eat it now?”

When I merely looked at it, panic showed in his eyes. He stood upright, and said, “Or I can get you something else. Is there anything you want? Do you want to go to see movies with me? I remember you loved La La Land and always wanted to watch it with me...but we never...had the time...”

He paused and his voice lowered as he said this.

He should have remembered. We didn't watch that movie not because we didn't have time, but because of Flora. Flora pestered him to watch together.

He snapped his finger like he thought of something good. “Or we can go shopping and buy the skirt you like for you. What do you want to do? Would you like to go for a walk in the forest on the border? I remember what you originally liked.”

The way he looked into my eyes and offered his suggestions were filled with many emotions such as anxiety and excitement.

Hearing his words though, I couldn’t help but let out a bitter smile. All those he talked about were the things he used to promise that he would do with me, but it never happened.

Every time, he’ll be called by Flora and he’ll come running to her. Even my favorites such as Strawberries were given away to her. She received the same skirt. Then my favorite patch of grass in the forest became their date place.

Now those wonderful things which I liked turned into a nightmare from my past.

All those things were now stained with memories of us fighting about such things which may seem trivial for others.

“I can give you money. I’ll send someone else to accompany you. No need to make a fuss about it.” That was his favorite line before whenever we quarreled about it. I could no longer even count how many times he said those things to me, just in various forms.

He thought that if he finances me and sends someone to be by my side, I’ll be happy enough. Not knowing that all he did then just hurt me even more.

He failed to understand that what I wanted was never the new clothes, movies, or those wonderful scenery we may see. All along, it was his presence and time that I desire the most. And that’s the one thing he could never give me then.

And now that he seemed to understand it, I was no longer longing for it.

It already ended between us, and it’s beyond repair.

He kept looking at me with expectation.

I laughed sarcastically, and scoffed. “What do you expect from me? Jump in joy? Kylian, you’re way too late.”

“Della…” He tried to touch me, but I pushed him away.

“Things changed, Kylian. My preferences had changed… I mean who wouldn’t after being disappointed over and over again, right? You werent’ there when I needed you.”

I stood up, and stared at him, “And now, I don’t need you anymore.”

“Della, please…” He blocked my path. “I can learn. If you like new things now, I’ll pay more attention to it. I’ll pay close attention to your every wants and needs today and in the future. I swear. J-just give me a chance.”

I tilted my head after letting out a sigh. “Right now, I want nothing but our divorce.”

His shoulder slumped with dejection. And the entire room became so filled with silence that we could even hear our own breathing.

After a while, I decided to break the silence. “Look, I’m not here to reminisce about the past with you. What we have had been settled long ago. It had ended.”

“Then…”

“I just wanted to talk to you about something important,” I said with seriousness.

Seeing as I had no plan to budge, he sighed and walked back to his seat.

Now, we’re talking about business.

“Please, go on.”

Thinking about how to properly tell him about the truth without being obvious, I’ve thought of a great way.

“Recently, I’ve started having interest in sailing, and learned a thing or two about it. But, obviously, I don’t know enough,” I started, and he seemed to understand what I wanted.

He nodded, “You want me to teach you?”

I let out a casual laugh and shook my head. “No, I want to invite Ralph. He’s an omega from the Lycan Kingdom. I want you to give him entry in the pack as my honored guest. He’s an expert in sailing and well recommended by the Prince and King.”
