Chapter 97

Della’s POV

Kylian finally left after saying desperately, "I'll find a way to get you to move out."

Looking at his back, I breathed a sigh of relief.

My hands were shaking while I clenched tightly on the blanket.

I felt the pleasure and all, but...I almost lost my puppy.

I was less than a month pregnant now and this was a critical period. If I really had sex with him, I would probably have a miscarriage.

I couldn't lose my puppy. It was so small and had just appeared in my life. And it’s the only thing left of my four-year marriage.

Anger, panic, and fear overwhelmed me so much that I couldn’t help but cry and shake.

I couldn’t believe him! If I hadn’t protested as much as hurting him, would he have stopped? Would he force me and kill my puppy?

Just thinking about what happened minutes ago and every possibility it might have gone to if it went on, made me cry even more.

Why is he always like this! Did he think sleeping with me will make me forget everything and forgive him? Did he know he almost killed his puppy?

But I can't tell him. I can't tell him.

I repeated and couldn't stop crying and obviously, it scared Diana.

“Ms.Della, are you okay? W-why? Did he hurt you? Did he do something wrong before I came in? It’s all my fault. I came in too late. I’m so sorry Ms.Della.” Worries flashed in Diana’s eyes as she kneeled before me and held my hand.

I tried to say no, but all I could make was sobbing.

When I failed to answer fast, she abruptly stood up. “Did he? I ought to…”

Before she could even stand up and try to start a duel with an alpha who was way beyond her power, I immediately held her hand and pulled her to stop.

Shaking my head, I cried out vaguely, “Diana…”

“Oh yes, I should check your wound first. I can kill that bastard later!” Diana said through her gritted teeth as she held me and tried to examine me for any injuries.

She turned me over and over several times, raising and lowering my hands. Her voice was sharp with anger, but she was so nervous that she checked my armpits twice. Her look made me suddenly want to laugh inappropriately.

Thanks to her attentiveness and rich expression, I finally stopped crying.

“No, I’m not hurt. I-I’m… I’m okay…Diana.”

My words finally calmed her down. Her back relaxed.

“What happened then?” she asked in a low voice, sitting beside me as she engulfed my hands in her warm hands.

I sniffed a cry, whispering, “We had an argument, and somehow, he ended up trying to force himself into me.”

“My moon goddess! But you are pregnant! Are you okay now?” She covered her mouth with her hands in shock. Her body that had just relaxed tensed up again.

“Yes...I stopped him...” Looking at Diana's worried expression, I could no longer withhold my feelings and complained my frustration.

“Why does he only care about himself? How can he be so selfish all the time?”

I accidentally pushed the blanket away from me, revealing my nakedness, but I couldn’t care less anymore. I just kept shouting and cursing until I felt exhausted, leaning on the headboard.

And Diana, she is just like another Fae. She kept me company and cursed Kylian loudly until we were both out of breath.

We gasped for air, and suddenly we looked at each other and couldn't help laughing.

Thanks to Diana, I feel much better now.

“Ok, it’s time to forget about that fool! He didn’t deserve you. Now, let me help you up.” she said while holding my hand, then my shoulder, and helped me up and off the bed.

She went to the closet and picked a pair of gray denim pants and a blue tank top for me.

“You change first,” she said, handing it to me.

I smiled, and said, “Thank you.”

I really mean it. If it hadn't been for her, I would have spent the entire day in tears and panic.

After she left the room, I wore the clothes she gave me. Feeling a bit cold though, I added a brown cardigan on top. I was fixing my hair when my phone pinged at the bedside table.

Looking at it, I saw that it was a message from Albert.

I raised an eyebrow and slowly grabbed the phone.

“Albert? It’s been so long…” I whispered, totally surprised.

Since he went to Wakeland, I haven’t heard anything from him. He hadn’t called or texted me until now.

It was an MMS message. “Hi Della, how are you doing? Everything is going well on my side. The issues here in Wakeland are slowly getting better. Don’t worry.”

Attached to the text was a picture of the Wakeland that seemed to be undergoing reconstruction after a crisis. It seemed like a piece of good news to me.

Then another message from him came in. “I’ll have someone send some gifts to you. I hope you’re doing fine and happy right now.”

A small tear dropped onto my cheek.

Though we were miles apart, he never failed to show his care for me. His messages were so genuine and all the pictures he sent made it feel like we weren’t so far apart.

And that made me even sadder… guilty even.

Albert has been protecting me when he was here, and he did his best to help me with my affairs in Wakeland, but I only cared about myself and kept ignoring him.

I pursed my lips and typed in the dialog box. "Hi Albert, I'm not having a good life..."

Realizing what I just entered, I shook my head.

No, I'm already ignoring his feelings. He was already very tired and I couldn't let my friend worry more.

I scolded myself. Then, I typed again, “I’m doing good. You don’t have anything to worry about.”

As soon as I sent the send button, a loud banging and shouts echoed. It came as a surprise that I almost dropped my phone.

When I turned around, I came face to face with Henry who had a gloomy and confused look on his face.

It was too late for me to wipe my tears dry. I saw how his serious eyes widened in shock before he tried to conceal it. His eyes lowered down, so I pulled my cardigan tighter around me, trying to hide the hickey's that Klian gave me.

Henry cleared his throat and looked away. Then he asked, “Did Alpha Kylian come here?”

Confused, I could only give a subtle nod as a reply.

He shifted his eyes back at me and asked after a moment of hesitation. “Do you need a doctor to look at you?”

My eyes narrowed at that, suddenly feeling much guarded. “Why did you ask?”

He rolled his eyes, and smugly replied, “Pregnant women shouldn’t be whoring around another man.”

My eyes widened, and I involuntarily took a step back because of it.

What struck me wasn’t his insult, but the fact that he was aware that I was pregnant. My heart instantly beat faster and stronger and I could feel it in my throat.

“Watch your tongue!” Diana shouted at his back, and pushed her way into the room, defending me.

With Diana on my side, a surge of hope and courage came into me.

I raised an eyebrow and pretended to be oblivious to his words. “What are you talking about?”

“Your alpha is not here. If you don’t need anything more, then leave!”

Instead of leaving, Henry pulled out something from his pocket, throwing a white stick in front of me.

I glanced at it and fear caught me instantly.

It was the pregnancy kit I threw at the flower bed.

Fear immediately surged over me.

He found it! What should I do?

Suddenly, I remembered how this moment felt so familiar. Like what I did before with Luke, I could just say that it wasn’t mine.

“I–” Before I could say anything more, Henry already intervened, “I’m not as stupid as Sir. Luke, so don’t even try to lie at me and make me a fool. If you really want to clear things up, see the pack doctor with me.”

Diana took a step forward. “How dare you, you imbecile! You might be a beta, but she’s a Luna. She deserves respect. You better leave!”

“Diana…” I  called out to stop her just before she could push Henry away.

He’s right, he’s not someone easy to fool. Besides, he also looked very determined to know the truth. Once Henry became like that, he wouldn’t easel let go of things.

I could only sigh in helplessness, asking, “Did you tell him? Does Kylian know?”

“Not yet.” he glanced at my belly coldly.

That gave me an instant relief. As long as Kylian didn't know, I would still have a chance to save everything.

“I want to have a good talk to you,” Henry said.

Diana and I looked at each other momentarily, before I nodded in approval that she could leave us alone.

“You can go,” I voiced out to her.

With my arms crossed over my chest, I asked Henry, “What do you want to talk about?”
