Albert and I immediately stepped away from each other upon hearing Henry’s accusation and angry voice.
We stood up properly and I faced Henry with a diplomatic expression as I explained, “I almost fell. Good thing Albert caught me.”
I nonchalantly told him. After all, we didn’t do anything wrong so there’s no reason for me to be nervous. I also pointed at the wet leaves and spoiled food on the ground which caused me to slide.
Henry sarcastically laughed. “You’re good. Do you really expect me to believe that?”
That statement instantly put me in a bad mood. I sternly looked at him. “Yes! Because that’s the truth. What are you trying to imply?”
“To be honest, I can’t believe you! After you hurt Alpha Kylian like that, you actually still had the heart to hug another man? And in public at that!” he shouted.
Henry’s eyes were fuming with anger and his voice was booming around. It’s vivid that he was restraining himself so hard right now just not to attack me.
After years of being married to Kylian, I had countless encounters with Henry. He’s a good man. He always does his best and I see him as a very great Beta and friend toward Kylian. He’s loyal and it’s obvious how much he likes and respects Kylian so I couldn’t exactly blame him why he was overacting right now.
Nonetheless, it was no excuse for him to accuse me of things I didn’t do.
“Don’t go overboard! It’s not what happened!” Albert countered.
Henry huffed. “Of course, you’ll say otherwise!”
“You…” Albert wanted to attack Henry but I already stood in front of him and blocked their paths from each other.
“That’s enough. It’s not worth a fight,” I said to Albert and shifted my gaze to Henry afterward. “Like I said, he just helped me that’s all. No need to think too much about it.”
“Who do you think you are?” he suddenly asked me, which caught me off guard.
“What?”
“Who do you think you are that you think you have any right to hurt Alpha Kylian? Why do you keep hurting him and making him doubt himself?! What are you doing when he needs someone right now to care for him, huh? You don't deserve him. Not even a slightest bit!” he complained which made me speechless.
Who was hurting who now? This was unbelievable!
After he hurt me with Flora and Stella, is he blaming me now?
Triggered, I wasn’t able to stop myself from speaking out of pure anger. “Kylian and I have already ended! I won’t care even if he dies! I won’t see a heartless and selfish man like him ever again! If he needs someone to take care of him, then go to Stella or Flora or whoever you want. I don’t care!”
Henry was left speechless as well. Disappointment and betrayal flashed in his eyes as he shook his head before turning dejectedly and leaving.
“Della…” Albert called out.
Suddenly, I felt so drained.
I whispered, “Let’s go back. I’m tired already. I want to rest.”
Albert took me back to my room, and Nancy brought us hot coffee in a timely manner.
It's so rare that she's so caring. I looked at her and said thank you.
She nodded obediently, left it at the table and left while Albert and I sat on opposite chairs.
I was drinking the warm drink in haze while my mind kept drifting back and forth on what Henry had said earlier.
Was he okay? What happened? Did he need help?
I couldn't help but wonder what's happening to Kylian right now. All that I said earlier was only because of anger. I didn’t mean any of those things…
Right after Albert took his last sip and placed the cup down, he looked at me and asked, “Are you alright?”
I nodded with a bitter smile. “Can you go first? I want to rest.”
“Of course…” Albert said, defeated.
After he left, I stayed inside my room and focused all my attention on my work. I opened my laptop and started researching and thinking of ways on how to help the Weakland.
However, I haven’t done anything significant yet when I heard a frantic knock on my door.
“Who is it?” I asked in annoyance. But no one answered.
I jumped out of my bed, run to the door and asked again. “Who is it?”
“Della, it’s me. Open the door.” It’s Albert, his voice trembled strangely. Something must have happened
I opened the door instantly while asking, “What happen...”
I was stunned when I saw him.
Albert was breathing frantically and weirdly, his wolf’s roaring even made me deaf.
He walked in with a strange posture, which made my eyes move to his lower body - he was horribly erect.
Immediately, I came to his side and helped him walk toward my be, trying not to look at his private parts to avoid embarrassing him.
“What happened to you?”
He started sweating, get rid of my hand and moving around anxiously. “I don’t know… I think I’ve been…d-drug…the coffee...”
“I'm sorry, D-Della, I shouldn't be here...in this state, but I don't have enough time... to return to R-River Ash.”
My eyes widened as I looked at the cup of coffee on my table. Nancy!
“Nancy! Get in here!” I shouted in anger. Immediately, the door opened and she entered arrogantly.
Seeing Albert on my bed in such a situation, her eyes widened a bit. She tried to hide it but my eyes were sharp enough to see through her.
“What have you done?” I asked.
“What? What did I do?” she asked, acting innocent which made me even more angry.
In a matter of seconds, I was already on her side and was pushing her shoulders against the wall. And being gentle was far from me right now.
She whimpered in pain, and I only pushed her harder instead. With gritted teeth, I asked word for word, “What have you done?”
“I… It's an A-amare potion…”
When she said that, my eyes opened wide and fury flashed in my eyes. “How dare you!”
Amare potion was a drug used to increase a man’s sex drive. He would go crazy and undergo something like heat that a she-wolf would experience sometimes. That pain he would feel won’t subside unless he was to have sex with someone.
“You are crazy!” I shouted and threw her across the room.
“I… I just want him to fall in love with me so I asked a wizard to do that potion… He said that if I make him drink that, he’ll be forced to have sex, and if he does it with anyone, that woman will surely get pregnant… All I have to do is be with him when that time comes, but you just have to ruin everything!” she shouted. How desperate could she be?
“Leave…”
“I won’t! I…”
I turned and looked at her as my nails elongated into claws. “I said, leave!”
She quivered and eventually ran out.
Meanwhile, I came to Albert’s aid, not sure of what I should do.
He was heavily sweating and moaning, gritted his teeth to avoid losing his composure in front of me.
Maybe I should leave him alone for a while or help him cool down?
In the end, I decided to go on my knee on my bed and help him remove his shirt to relieve his heat a bit.
“You are so heavy!” I complained while I was helping him remove his shirt. “Finally!” I said after I succeeded and I threw his shirt on the ground when the door was slammed open.
My eyes widened when I saw Kylian enter while panting. His eyes looked around and we both froze at that moment.
After a few seconds, our shock changed in an instant. I was left in panic while he was outraged.
I was sure that the scene he witnessed was easy to misunderstand-Albert moaned with lust and I took off his clothes...
I immediately stood up and tried to distant from Albert. I shook my head and looked at Kylian intently. “This is not what it looks like. I swear!”
“You just have to prove him right, don’t you?” he whispered so low that I could barely hear him. He was still frozen in his place and his eyes weavered so much that it almost looked like tears were starting to swell in his eyes.
He looked so… dejected and heartbroken.
Oh, damn!
“What do you mean? Prove who and what?” I asked in confusion as I tried to approach him but he stepped back so fast as if my touch would burn him.
He slowly nodded his head as if understanding something I couldn’t. And without further words, he turned around and left me wondering…
I wanted to run after him, but my legs were stuck, and so was my mind when I felt Albert moan louder and the room became steamier...
