Chapter 66

My heart skipped a bit as extreme anxiety filled my heart.
“That’s enough! Stop arguing already!” I immediately intervened in fear that Albert wouldn’t be able to stop himself and reveal my true identity.
As I still couldn’t stand up, I just turned my gaze toward Kylian and intensely looked into his eyes as if begging. “Please, be polite to Albert. He meant well, and he is my guess.”
“He…”
Kylian was about to protest, but I stopped him. “Leave. I don’t want to see you right now,” I said in a stern voice.
“Are you defending him, Della? Are you being for real?” Kylian asked as his anger increased even more. There was a hint of pain and betrayal in his words, but I was too hurt as well to even show any care for him. I mean, did he?
All he did was bring me here and spend time with Stella instead, so he wasn’t one to speak.
Taking a deep breath, I looked up at him sharply while motioning toward Albert. “Albert came here as per Prince Jackson. He is here to take care of me and protect me. You, being the alpha, should know well about the rules. According to the Kingdom law, he is bound to abide by his duties.”
I watched as he clenched his jaw and fisted his hands on his side while intently looking back at me. We fought silently while staring at each other, with no one willing to back down.
After a few more seconds, he saw him sigh. Of course, he had to give up. Whether he likes it or not, a royal’s order must be followed.
I thought it would be the end of it. That he would turn around and leave, as I said, but I was wrong.
Why would I even expect that he could ever be civil? He was too arrogant and egoistic to be humbled for a second.
He let out that irritable smirk and looked at me with everything but gentleness. He was fuming mad; I could see that. It’s a predicament of what’s about to happen next. Right now, I wasn’t any woman he wanted to pursue but a person he had to hurt to save his own face.
Pathetic!
“You really want to make me leave? Della, don’t even try to forget for a minute. Think about it. Without me, who would you be? Where would you be? What will you be?” he asked one after another.
Bitterness filled me as I already knew what he was pointing out.
“Don’t even go there, Kylian,” I warned while I gave a discrete signal to Albert to stay put after seeing the build-up of anger in him.
If I didn’t stop him and he started attacking, there would surely be a brawl between them. I couldn’t let that happen.
“What? You know that I am right, right? You will still be an omega. If it weren’t for me, you would be cleaning toilets and cooking for everyone. You’ll be everyone’s slave. Don’t forget who you really are, Della. Don’t even think for a second that the Lycan Prince can be as stupid as me to choose a lowly omega like you to be his chosen mate.”
“Alpha Kylian! You are going too far. How dare you…” Albert tried to intervene, but Kylian kept a deaf ear and continued his inhuman insults.
Then his eyes became a bit gentle , void of sincerity. He leaned down and cupped my cheek with his right hand, preventing me from looking away from him. “Listen, if you make Albert leave now. I’ll forget everything. It will be a clean slate for us. I’ll treat you well, Della…”
How come such words that were supposed to touch a woman’s heart felt more like a sharp knife being stuck and twisted in my heart?
‘Was that how lowly you think of me, Kylian? How much more were you willing to hurt me? When would you stop? When I turn numb? How far would you go?’
How stupid could I be? After he said all those things, and after I’ve been hurt so much. I still understand him. I knew that he said all those things out of anger, but that didn’t make it any less painful.
Tears once again streamed down my face without my consent as I looked at him emotionless.
I was so drowned in my emotion that before I knew it, Kylian was already on the ground after being punched hard by Albert when he least expected it.
“Fucking asshole!” Albert cursed. He was breathing heavily, overflowing with anger. He wanted to attack again.
I shifted my gaze and looked at Kylian, who had already stopped up and was roaring in anger. His claws were already out, and I knew that if I didn’t do anything, they’d end up in a fight.
Before it could even start, I must stop them. Kylian was an alpha. I couldn’t let him hurt Albert more than he already did.
“Don’t…” I warned Kylian.
Due to the adrenaline rush, I was able to stand up and stand between them, keeping Aolbert behind me, which made Kylian stop his fist midway in the air just as it was about to hit my face.
“Are you really trying to protect him? Why? Why the–” he stopped speaking as he stared into my face, that’s now filled with tears.
He weakly dropped his arm to his side while staring at me.
I was shaking, and my chin was quivering as I miserably tried hard not to break down in front of him. To say I was hurt would even be an understatement. He just went way too far this time, and being angry wouldn’t even be cut as an excuse this time.
With a hard effort to compose myself, I told him coldly, “I don’t care whether or not I will be the Lycan Prince’s mate or not. All I want right now is to divorce you, Kylian.”
“Leave!”
After that, he finally turned around with a sneer and left.
As soon as he left, that’s when I felt weakness rushed through me. I immediately lost all my lower body’s strength and almost fell.
Alert, Albert picked me up and carried me back to my bed. He sat on the edge of the bed and wiped my tears dry with his thumb.
“Kyian went too far earlier. Why didn’t you just tell him that you are the Lycan princess?”
