Chapter 61

According to Nancy, tonight's the party.
Sitting up from the bed, I stared at the opened box placed beside me and couldn't help but smile as I slid my hand on it.
"It's beautiful," I whispered with admiration.
It's a floor-length red mermaid gown with a black sequence, which made it very lovely. Beside it was an eye marked of the same design with thin raffles on the upper corner of the right eye.
I couldn't be happier after pairing the dress with a four-inch stiletto. I felt sexy and lovely in it. It suited me and defined my figure well.
I gave myself a little twirl around the mirror with a huge smile on my face before realization hit me.
Halting immediately, I scolded myself, "You fool! What are you doing?"
After stopping myself from my absurdity, I started fixing my hair in a wavy style and pulled it all on my right side, keeping my left neck naked.
Once I was done, I left my room with grace as I ventured towards the main house where the event was being held.
Before entering the ballroom, I straightened my dress. I love it so much that I feel like at least I can have a good small talk with Kylian tonight.
After all we once loved each other, right?
I smoothed out the pleats on my skirt, raised my head and pushed open the door.
But the second my eyes saw the scene in the hall, my back collapsed, and I overturned all my thoughts.
I never thought I'd be this surprised and disappointed at the same time.
A few steps away from me, Stella was in the same clothes as me.
Kylian sent these clothes to me, and I thought they were specially chosen for me, but it turned out…
"I should have known it before. It's happening all over again," I couldn't help but whisper as pain and disappointment struck me.
That's what happened before. When Flora was here, I once asked for a Birkin bag. I was happy when he gave it to me, but then I found Flora got the same one.
“Fool!” I scolded myself, angry that I was fooled again.
With a bitter smirk, I continued to move forward. Instead of continuing to the center to dance or to the tables to mingle, I went straight to the bar and asked for a drink. Now, if there’s something I should be thankful for, it would be that the mask was only on my eyes. So, I was able to drink with ease.
One… Two… Three… Before I knew it, I could no longer count how many glasses of alcohol I had finished. The burning sensation in my throat didn’t even lessen the loneliness I was feeling inside. Instead, the heat that it gave even intensified it.
“One more…” I told the bartender.
“But…” He tried to protest, but when I gave him a menacing glare, he immediately shut up and gave me another drink.
I need it. Right now, the anger that was radiating all over me was so intense that I knew I would go out of control if I ever faced Kylian. I needed to suppress it as much as I could.
After chunking the glass in one go, I looked again at the bartender. “One more…”
He reluctantly gave me another glass, but just as I was about to drink it, the glass was forcibly yanked away from me.
“That’s enough!”
“Who…” I didn’t finish my sentence as I realized who it was upon looking at my side.
The funny thing was that he was wearing a mask covering half of his face, yet I could still recognize him.
Damn, I think I could even recognize him even by just looking at his mere back.
“When will you stop being so self-righteous, huh?” I couldn’t contain it any longer.
I just had to get it out of my chest. I stood up from my chair and looked at him, entirely not minding that Stella was standing beside him. I just had enough.
“You’re always like that! What’s even your right to dictate what I do? Why don’t you look at yourself first before minding my fucking business?”
I saw how his jaw clenched in anger. He was suppressing himself from venting out, but boy, was I just so mad right now that I didn’t care if he went out of control.
He looked around before looking at me again. “Stop it, Della. You’re calling everyone’s attention. You’re drunk!” He scolded me.
What not? Was he ashamed? Did he think I’m embarrassing him? Great! That just angered me even more.
“You!” I hardly pointed at his chest, making him take a step back. “Are so irritating!” I pushed him again with my finger. “You are…” I was about to do it the third time, but being an Alpha, he couldn’t handle it anymore.
He grabbed my hand to stop me. “Della, are you out of your mind?”
I sarcastically laughed at him. “You’re the one who’s out of your mind! How can you act self-righteous when you are always like that? You never listen to me! Do you think you’re that great? You couldn’t even install the furniture properly when we were together! You don’t know how to follow instructions and do everything on your own!”
“Della, you’re drunk. Stop it now. You’re making a scene! I am just concerned about you…”
That made me laugh so hard.
“Asshole!” This time, I went all out and cursed at him. He just deserves it.
He was dumbfounded for a while, so I went to one.
“You are a playboy. Just fucking admit it! I thought Flora would be your endgame, but what’s happening now?” I pointed at Stella and continued, “You got another side chick with you. Fuck you, Kylian!”
Kylian’s angered expression immediately changed. His face relaxed, and in a matter of seconds, he suddenly laughed. He laughed! Could anyone imagine that? We’re in the middle of a damn heated conversation, I'm going crazy, and he laughed!
I looked at him as if he was crazy. Once he calmed down a bit, he looked a step forward and closed the gap between us. He leaned his head down on me and looked straight into my eyes.
“Are you jealous?”
There was an excitement in his voice that made me angry even more.
Flustered, I still tried to remain calm and answer him. “What? You wish! As if I’ll…”
“Come on, My Luna. Just admit it. You still love me. Stop resisting already,” he said with a huge smile plastered on his annoying face.
He gave Stella a quick glance, and with an understanding nod, Stella left us alone, which I didn’t expect to happen.
Kylian took another step closer to me and helped me at either side of my shoulders. I could see the sincerity and overflowing emotions in his eyes as he spoke his next words very gently and lovingly, “My Luna, please… I don’t mind it. I won’t mind what happened to you with Jackson and Albert. I won’t mind any of it. As long as you say you still love me, I’ll forget everything. Please, let’s forget everything about them and about Flora. Let’s get back together, my Luna.”
I was fazed for a while. Jackson and I were nothing more than brother and sister. And about Albert… That kiss that we shared to make Kylian jealous was nothing compared to what Kylian and Flora had done before.
He’s being a bit funny. How could he doubt her like that? How could he think that I was having another man? Was he trying to blame me for our problems? And what? Was it comparable to everything he did before? Not in a million years!
As if a bomb that took time to detonate, I exploded. With all the force I could muster in me, I pushed him as far as I could from me. Yanking the mask on my face, I strode out of the party and disappeared from their eyes as fast as I could.
“Della… Where are you? Please be safe. I’ll be waiting for you in the flower room. Promise I’ll explain everything to you. Just… see me. Please.”
After reading his message, I angrily tossed my phone away from me on the bed and sat up.
I thought about it for a long time before I finally decided to see him. After all, I think it would be better to hear what he had to say anyway. And, I couldn’t sleep anyway, so I might as well use my time.
Looking at the clock, it was already nine in the evening. The sky was dark, and the stars were illuminating beautifully in the night sky.
I changed my clothes in a comfortable set and went out with my phone. I walked into the flower room, just as he requested, and I found him sitting on the couch where we had been so intimate.
He looked up and was surprised to see me. “Della! You’re here!”
A smile left his face as he stood excitedly and took a step closer to me.
“About what happened…”
I was ready to hear his explanation, but Stella came in and strode fast toward Kylian before he could do so.
In a flash, she held her hand over the back of Kylian’s head and kissed him right in front of me! And he didn't even try to stop her! I bet he could if he wanted to!
I froze on where I was, totally surprised and dumbfounded. And within seconds, a headache slowly ventured into my heart as every piece of it started to crack. I was heartbroken, and hate increased within me.
I couldn’t even scold him, nor could I curse. I was so hurt that all I could do was turn around and run back to my room.
After returning, I saw Nancy cleaning my room. When she saw me, she immediately scowled. It’s irritating, but I was starting to get used to it. Besides, I was so infuriated with what I had witnessed earlier that I had no energy left to scold her or do anything.
Dejectedly, I sat on the side of my bed and looked at Nancy with contemplation. After hesitating, I finally asked.
“Nancy,” I called out, and she stopped what she was doing and looked at me.
“What is it?” she asked with disgust, but I just let it go and continued to ask, “What happened when I fainted?”
She looked at me for a while before answering, “Well, while you were unconscious on your bed, Alpha Kylian and Miss Stella were both here. Miss Stella held Alpha’s arm sweetly and told him that she was hungry, so they left immediately. Miss Stella asked Alpha Kylian if they should wait for you to wake up first before leaving, but Alpha Kylian refused to starve her. He said you fainted anyway, so there’s nothing they could do. He said that Miss Stella is more important.”
Now, I think I shouldn’t have asked because her every word seemed to be a knife being struck into my broken heart, making it bleed even more.
“Leave…” I whispered.
“Then…”
“Get the fuck out, Nancy!” I shouted, driving her away. Once she was gone, I dropped my body on my bed, completely drained.
Then my tears just started to drip from the corners of my eyes, and before I knew it, I was crying so hard already.
