Chapter 19

Della’s POV

Kylian slowly walked into the room, one hand on his pants pocket while the other was simply hanging on his side.

His eyes were void of emotion, and his perfectly sharp jaws clenched in anger. Though he wasn’t saying anything yet, gloominess was exuding from every part of him.

I momentarily closed my eyes and heaved a sigh as his intoxicating scent reached my nostrils, stirring unwanted emotions from me.

‘Get yourself together, Della!’ Silently, I scolded myself.

Opening my eyes again, chills went up my spine when I met Kylian’s questioning eyes.

His eyes were narrowed just a little bit – enough for me to see the intensity of his stare in my… to see the judgment on it.

My heart clenched as I became even more disappointed in him. I was the victim here, and yet, how did I become the one being looked at like that? A look of scrutiny.

Even after hearing every lie Flora uttered earlier… how come I was still the one getting those looks?

Inwardly, I scoffed as I felt injustice creeping into my every being.

Probably feeling the increasing tension between me and Kylian, Jackson asked again and took Kylian’s attention away from me. “So, Kylian, is what Flora said earlier all true? Is Della the real culprit in the car accident and she’s trying to pin the blame on her instead?”

I leaned back with crossed arms and narrowed eyes as I watched Kylian clench his jaws in contemplation while he stared at Flora, who was slightly trembling in her seat, looking scared and hopeless.

Her eyes were watery and googly, and she pouted and asked, rubbing her hand on her small belly, "Kylian, please… protect me…for our child's sake, please…"

Kylian stayed quiet for a while, but after feeling Jackson's stare, he finally said, "Prince Jackson and I were outside when you were talking to Della earlier; we both heard everything."

Hearing that, Flora froze in her seat, tears even stopping as she stared at them with her wide eyes. After a while, she blinked several times before she shifted her gaze and looked at me in disbelief.

"You!" She angrily pointed at me, continuing to speak with gritted teeth. "You lied to me!"

Still pointing at me, she pleadingly looked at Kylian and said, "She schemed all of this, Kylian! It's all Della, she's really a vicious woman! Believe me!"

Couldn't hold a sneer, I shrugged my shoulders and nonchalantly said, "I didn't even know Ja-Prince Jackson and Kylian would come here."

How would I even know that they were there? All I thought was I came here alone.

I just wanted to ask her and explain the truth properly about what happened online and for her to put a stop to the rumors about me. I didn't expect, though, that Jackson would aid me and he would come here with Kylian in two.

But then again, why was he here? Did Jackson bring him, or did he come on his own accord?

I stared at Kylian, who was staring at Flora, who was still acting like a victim, and a bitter smile formed on my lips as I realized that he had come here to save Flora.

He would really move heaven and earth for her while he pushed me aside and repeatedly hurt me.

Was the difference between a fated and chosen mate really that huge that he could just forget about me that fast in the presence of his fated mate?

Kylina, were all the vows you made to me false?

My heart ached, and my soul seemed to be torn into countless pieces. I stood there, helpless as I watched my husband hurt me in order to protect another she-wolf.

I still loved him, but his heart no longer belonged to me. How pathetic.

"Well?" Jackson urged Kylian to reply.

Shifting his emotionless eyes to Jackson's chilling ones, he replied, "Flora tends to lie when she's scared. She must have been so frightened earlier that she lied like that."

My jaw literally dropped at his words. What the hell? I thought I had accepted the truth, but when Kylian told such a ridiculous lie to defend Flora, my heart ached even more.

Jackson must have felt the same injustice I felt because his face immediately dimmed. "So, does that give Flora the right to slander an innocent woman?"

Taking a step forward, he fought Kylian with a dominating demeanor, filling the room with suffocating tension.

He added, "Even if Flora is your fated mate, Miss Della is the nominal Luna of your pack. Do you really want to be so unfair to your Luna for a mistress?"

Jackson raised an eyebrow and continued, "According to the laws of most packs, slandering a Luna and trying to sow discord between an Alpha and Luna will usually result in an expulsion or severe punishment. How is this case different from the rest?"

A bitter smile formed in the corner of my lips. Who doesn't know the laws Jackson mentioned? Kylian just ignored them deliberately to protect Flora.

Kylian took a deep breath and combed his hair with his hand, messing it a bit. Lines also formed on his forehead, showing his irritation. "Please, Prince Jackson. After all, Flora is pregnant with my pip. Please let me take her back."

Of course, he still wanted to save Flora, even if it meant lowering his pride to Jackson.

Looking down, I saw how Jackson's hands formed into a tighter fist. He's mad. No… he's beyond mad, and he's only a second away from punching Kylian. I knew that blaring eyes so well.

Jackson momentarily glanced at me, and I saw a glimpse of pity that flashed so fast between his flaming eyes. He was suppressing his anger for my sake. If it weren't for his promise to hide my identity, I'm sure he was already attacking Kylian right now until he turned into a pulp.

Jackson's chest rose and fell quite a bit fast as he tried his best to regulate his anger. Once a bit calmer, he looked back at Kylian and said, "I respect Luna Della's decision in this matter. After all, she's the Luna and the real victim of this case."

As soon as Jackson finished his words, Kylian's sharp hawk eyes turned to me as he commanded, "Let Flora go."

"That asshole! What does he take us for? His fucking slave? How dare he speak to us with that tone? Huh! Like hell, I'll give in to a trash like him!" Trisha, my wolf, started ranting in anger.

Her anger was the same as mine. Both our blood was rushing with immeasurable anger.

I was about to retort back and argue with him, but I saw in my peripheral vision how tight Jackson's fist was and how he took a step closer toward Kylian. Jackson was about to stand in a fighting position and was a second away from attacking him.

Taking a deep breath, I decided to do things my way to prevent the situation from escalating. Looking deeply into Jackson's eyes, I said, "I wanted to talk to Kylian alone. If that's fine, Prince Jackson."

Jackson stayed silent for a while, staring at me and seemingly reading my thoughts. His eyes then looked back and forth between Kylian and me before he reluctantly nodded in agreement before he walked out of the room, leaving me alone with my asshole of a husband and a bitch of a rival in love.

Great! Just great! I sarcastically thought.

As soon as the door closed, Kylian stared into my eyes and asked with narrowed and judging eyes, "What's your relationship with the prince?"
