"Charlie," he breathed, pulling me into a fierce embrace. "Are you hurt?"
"I'm fine," I assured him. "But we need to get everyone out. My mother—Elizabeth—she's still inside with Richard."
Liam's eyes widened. "Your mother is alive?"
Before I could explain, an explosion rocked the facility behind us. Windows shattered as flames erupted from the research wing.
"Elizabeth!" I screamed, trying to run back toward the building, but Liam held me firmly.
"It's too dangerous," he insisted. "The whole place could go up."
"I can't leave her," I argued, struggling against his grip. "Not when I've just found her."
A figure emerged from the smoke-filled doorway—Elizabeth, supporting a badly injured Richard. Her face was streaked with soot and blood, but her eyes were clear and determined.
"I couldn't leave him," she explained as pack members rushed forward to help. "Despite everything, he's still my brother."
I embraced her, tears streaming down my face. "I thought I'd lost you again."
"Never again," she promised, holding me tightly. "We have a lifetime to make up for."
As the pack secured the remaining hunters and treated the wounded, I introduced Elizabeth to Liam. The two regarded each other with cautious respect.
"So you're the Alpha who's claimed my daughter's heart," Elizabeth said, studying him intently.
"She claimed mine first," Liam replied with unexpected gentleness.
Elizabeth smiled. "Her father would have liked you."
In the aftermath, as we gathered the injured and prepared to return to pack territory, I found myself standing between my past and my future—Elizabeth on one side, Liam on the other. Both werewolves, both human. Both part of who I was and who I would become.
