Chapter 33
1003words
I walked around the store looking at some really beautiful dresses, but when I touched the fabric it wasn't to my liking.
From the corner of my eye, I spot a sparkling red dress. Immediately I knew it was perfect. I called one of the workers with a grin on my face. "Please tell me you have it in size 6."
She laughs, "Today is your lucky day because this one on the rack is a size six and it's the last one we have in stock."
"What! Really?" That's amazing. Can I try it on?"
"Of course, follow me."
I rub my hands against the red dress, I look stunning. Tonight, I won't be poor Kalliyah Bisson with the broken heart. Tonight, I'm Kalliyah Bisson, just Kalliyah.
I quickly take off the dress and put on my bag my jeans pants and Aeropostale Purple shirt. When I came out of the changing room the worker who was helping me had a big smile on her face, "How did it look?"
"I looked like a princess."
"And that you are. Come on, let's get it packed up for you."
After Alexander paid for the dress we spend the rest of the day buying shoes, pieces of jewellery and toys for Henrique. We haven't even spoken much either.
Neither of us wants to talk especially after that kiss.
.......
I look in the mirror at myself. I've never looked as beautiful as I do now in this red dress and silver heel. After watching a few YouTube videos, I was able to do my makeup. Around my neck is an expensive silver necklace that had before I moved to New York and matching teardrop earrings.
I smile at my reflection, this was the first time in three years that I actually feel like me. There weren't any bags under my eyes. My hair is done neatly, deep curls hanging on my shoulder. The only thing that was missing was my bright red hair.
Alexander hired a temporary nanny for the night. At first, I disagreed but after a few minutes of arguing I knew I wasn't going to win. When I checked him early he was sleeping peacefully in his crib, the nanny only a few feet away from him. She looked trustworthy, she didn't look like the type of person who would hurt a baby not like they ever do anyway. I'll just make sure to check up on him.
I checked my phone on the dresser, it was 7:30 pm and the function started at 7'o clock. He said no one ever comes on time.
I looked at myself one time before I turned and exited my room. Walking down my side of the stairs I noticed the persons lingering at the bottom. There was also a partition which I guess was used to stop persons from coming up the stairs.
As I walked down the stairs the eyes for the socialites started to look in my direction. I knew red was a bright colour, but I didn't know it would catch so much attention. When I was at the end of the stairs I move the partition out of my way.
I offered a light smile to an older woman who was a few feet away. I had no idea what to do so I started to walk around admiring The Armani Suits and the Vera Wang dresses.
A waiter came over to me saying, "Margarita, madam." I nod my head smiling at him.
"Thanks," I said as I lifted the glass off the tray.
"Have a good night, Madam."
"I'd say you too, but I'd be lying. I know that after this event. You'll be left drained." I said trying to build a conversation, after all, it's not like I knew any of guess anyways.
"Don't tell anyone. I'm planning to steal some of that coffee in the kitchen, cause I'm gonna need it."
I lift my hands to my lips, "My lips are sealed."
We laughed at my statement and bowed his head then left.
I looked around the room trying to see if Alexander was here. I couldn't stand the thought of walking around any longer in these heels. I stopped at a corner and took a sip of the Margarita. This is what happens when an introvert puts herself out there. She gets stares, but no one is willing to talk to her.
Always little miss...
Before my thoughts went wild I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turn to see ocean blue eyes staring at me.
I raised my eyebrows at the man in front of me.
"I was over there," he pointed, and my eyes followed. "And my friends and I just couldn't take our eyes off you. You're the lady in red and I'd like to have a dance with you."
I laugh at his corny pick-up line. "Does that usually work with girls?"
He smiles showing his pearly ones, "One the ones in red." I pushed his hands out to me. "I'm Calum and you?"
"Kalliyah."
"Is that like an Australian name?"
I laugh and shake my head, "No idea."
"You're supposed to say Yes." I raised my brows at him.
"Why?" I had no idea where my parents got that name from and its meaning really didn't matter to me either.
"Well, I would have said, "Great cause I'd cross the seas to be with you."
I couldn't help but laugh at his stupidity. Did he think these cheesy pickup lines would actually work?
"Exactly how old are you?"
