Chapter 4

After the private doctor left, only Sterling and I remained in the entire Bright Garden.

The air seemed to stand still.

Sterling Grant poured water to dissolve the medicine, his demeanor calm.

However, sitting on the bed, I was still in shock.

I wasn't sure what Sterling Grant intended to do. He wasn't someone easily dealt with or deceived.

Knowing I wouldn't come to him willingly, he actually made me eat shrimp until I threw up, and then took me away in this manner in front of everyone.

"Drink it all."

He handed me the medicine.

I carefully took it, bitter and hot, I drank slowly.

His gaze remained fixed on me, making me afraid to look up, only able to drink with my head down.

He knew I hated bitter things the most.

In my condition, I clearly didn't need to take medicine.

This is too much.

Just then, my phone on the table rang.

Caller ID: Zachary Porter.

I jumped off the bed, took my phone from in front of him, preparing to hang up, but he pressed down on my hand.

"Your fiancé is calling, don't want to answer?"

I pursed my lips.

"Not convenient, right?"

He coldly curled his lips.

"Afraid of getting caught cheating?"

It sounded harsh, but it was somewhat accurate.

Before I could speak, he pried open my hand, snatched my phone, and directly pressed the answer button, plus speakerphone.

Zachary Porter had never been polite to me, someone with no power or influence in the Lawrence Family who had to rely on others to survive.

"Lily Lawrence, where the hell have you been? I sent you messages and you didn't reply?"

"Presidential Suite 8888 at Chester Springs Hotel, hurry up and bring the things over, if you're one minute late, you'll be taking those wedding photos alone next month."

"Also, buy better quality items this time. Nana really disliked what you got last time."

Zachary Porter's tone grew increasingly harsh over the phone.

"Are you fucking listening or what? Are you dead? Can't even get a word out."

Sterling Grant hung up the phone, abruptly silencing the irritating voice.

He tossed the phone beside me.

The next moment, Zachary Porter called again. I hung up, then he sent a barrage of voice messages on WeChat.

Wasn't he just trying to prove to his current girlfriend that I, his fiancée, was nothing but a mere formality?

Every time they booked a hotel room, they deliberately made me appear before him, threatening me with the marriage arrangement between our families. And I had to comply for my mother to live peacefully in the Lawrence Family!

Recently things have gotten even more disgusting - whether it's delivering protection beforehand or morning-after pills afterward, plus adding:

"Lily, do you know why I agreed with your uncle to marry you? Because you're as obedient as a dog I've raised, coming whenever I call."

I turned off the phone, and everything became quiet.

Sterling's eyes remained indifferent.

Strangely, he didn't mock or look down on me.

To hide my emotions, I turned away and lay directly on the bed.

Unexpectedly, Sterling Grant suddenly remarked.

"Still want to share a bed with me? You've forgotten so quickly that you're engaged to someone else."

My body froze, and I quickly got up to find my slippers on the floor.

I certainly didn't mean it that way, I just wanted to lie down to adjust my current emotions.

Thinking about how Zachary Porter still hadn't transferred me the money for the previous deliveries I made for him, I felt a bit depressed.

Even though his family gave the Lawrence family a 30 million dowry, I didn't receive a single cent—it all went into Miles Lawrence's pocket.

When I think about it carefully, I actually ended up losing over 20,000.

Just as I was hesitating whether I should deliver something for him this time.

Suddenly my hand was seized tightly as Sterling Grant grabbed me forcefully, cornering me against the wall.

The coldness in his eyes continued to intensify.

"Why don't you say you want to?"

"Is it because you don't need to, or because you're too proud?"

Seeing that I was slow to answer, Sterling Grant pressed closer, giving me no way to retreat, forcing me to speak.
