"Lily's hand will definitely be ruined today."

"What do you mean?"

"Our Uncle Grant is allergic to shrimp. By making her peel shrimp, he won't eat a single bite. Isn't the meaning obvious? Everyone knows that in South City, people who displease our Uncle Grant or those he dislikes never come to a good end."

While the Grant family descendants were gossiping, I was still carefully peeling the shrimp.

Suddenly, the shrimp slipped from my hand, causing quite a commotion.

The shrimp jumped from the plate and landed on Sterling Grant's lap.

Without thinking, I immediately took a handkerchief and leaned over to wipe it away.

Everyone seemed uncomfortable with my actions, while I was the only one acting naturally.

Sterling Grant stiffened as he grabbed my hand.

"Mind the occasion."

Something did seem a bit off!

I withdrew my hand and continued peeling shrimp.

Old Mrs. Grant began to laugh.

"Little Lawrence girl, don't listen to Sterling. He's allergic to shrimp. You've peeled so many, your hands must be tired. Take a break."

Finally, someone spoke up.

I nodded to the old lady with relief, and just as I was about to put the freshly peeled shrimp into my mouth, someone lightly kicked my leg under the table.

I froze, glancing at Sterling Grant sitting beside me with a calm expression. It must have been an accidental touch.

But the next moment, he said:

"Keep peeling."

My eyes flickered as I glared at him angrily.

He ignored me.

Not far away, Miles Lawrence picked up where the old lady left off.

"Auntie Qiu, this girl cannot be spoiled. She didn't grow up in the Lawrence family and has developed many bad habits living with her mother all these years. We brought her here to broaden her horizons, considering she'll soon marry into the Porter family. She can't remain so ignorant of proper etiquette or she'll become the subject of gossip."

"Fortunately, Sterling, as her uncle, you helped me discipline her today."

Sterling Grant's dark eyes instantly turned cold enough to make one shiver.

"The Porter family? The one from East City International?"

Seeing that Sterling had picked up on his words, Miles smiled so widely he couldn't close his mouth.

"Yes, yes, yes, the Second Young Master Zachary Porter from East City International."

Sterling laughed coldly, his gaze suddenly shifting to me.

"Is he the one you like?"

I caught my breath, not knowing whether to nod or shake my head.

"Speak up."

I pursed my lips and spoke my first words of the evening.

"I suppose so!"

"You suppose so?"

He met my gaze, his eyes black as ink, suddenly so cold it was frightening, then unexpectedly his lips curved into a smile.

"Not bad, they make a good match."

Old Mrs. Grant also began to smile.

"Since you as the uncle say they're a good match, then you should properly prepare a dowry for the Lawrence family's little girl."

Sterling Grant readily agreed.

"Sure."

I hurriedly waved my hands.

"No, no need, I..."

Sterling Grant interrupted me.

"Don't be polite with me. Whatever you want, just ask."

Miles Lawrence desperately tried to signal me with his eyes.

Frost Lawrence was even more anxious, clutching her hands, almost wanting to stand up and speak for me.

The other members of the Grant family had all fallen silent by now.

Those who had said Sterling disliked me, wanted to cripple my hands, and that I wouldn't have a good outcome, were now inexplicably frowning.

"Haven't thought of what you want? Well, think about it carefully. Add me on WeChat, and you can contact me directly when you decide."

Sterling Grant had a mesmerizing appearance, but his entire being exuded coldness and depth, with an aura of authority that always made people feel suffocated.

When he said "sure," things definitely wouldn't develop in a good direction.

I mumbled a couple of sounds.

Miles Lawrence had already grabbed my phone from my hand and added Sterling Grant for me.

I held onto my phone tightly, the ominous feeling in my heart becoming more and more prominent. To hide my emotions, I hurriedly picked up the fruit juice beside me and took big gulps.

Sure enough, after two sips of juice went down, my phone vibrated.
