Chapter 59

"Should we take this risk?" he asked. I stopped from hammering the bait I decided to make.
We've been underwater for half a day and we couldn't find Fiscio. He's just nowhere to be found and it's already frustrating me. I just want to ask him the freaking question already.
Today.
"We're just going to ask her. It's not like we're going to hurt her. There's no reason for her to attack us," I told him. He sighed deeply.
"You're using a bait to a mermaid. You think she wouldn't see you as a threat?" He clicked his tongue. I shrugged my shoulders.
"This is a better plan than knocking on different clams," I blurted. My small hands tucked the rope tightly in the piece of fish we caught earlier. This would be my bait.
"You know that mermaids can get in your minds so easily. You can't control it," he warns. I just rolled my eyes and focused on knotting the loose ends of the bait. "I'm not sure if I can save you again. It's hard to transform when we're in water."
"Then let's do the fishing in land then. I'm so tired of being in water anyway. Can you hand me that stick?" I said. He looked at the long and tiny piece of wood beside him. I smiled when he grabbed it and give it to me. "Thanks."
"Mermaids aren't stupid. They won't fall in your trap," he said. I chuckled. Oh of course, I know that. He's so silly I can not. "What's so funny?" He crossed his arms and watch me do my thing.
"That's the point. Bait means a person is trying to catch them and I know very well that they're not after the fish, they're after us. I'm sure they'll grab this tiny friend of mine," I told him confidently. I smiled in satisfaction when I saw my finish product.
This looks convincing.
We're near the water. Swimming exhausted us so bad that we thought we could give ourselves some rest. I didn't want to stop for we only have a day to see him. If we fail to see Fiscio, that means he doesn't want to talk to us and he's running away.
I know that it's not the case. We just need to find him well. We'll see him soon. Maybe these mermaids can help us? They live with Fiscio so... We shall see.
I sat on the ground and throw the bait in the water. It sunk immediately and I waited patiently for something to grab it.
Damon is still looking at me like I'm the most pathetic person he has seen in his twenty years of existence. I just smiled sarcastically at him.
"What? You just realized that you found yourself a beautiful parsen? How lucky of you, huh?" I flaunted trying to piss him but he just smirked and nodded his head.
"Yeah. That's exactly what I'm thinking right now. You're so gorgeous, babe."
I rolled my eyes.
It has been almost ten minutes and I still haven't felt any movement from the piece of rope I have in here in my hand. I'm starting to loose hope but you know what no way! We came all the way here and I've said my words already. I'll do what I got to do. No matter what.
"Aren't you cold?" he asked.
"I am."
"You should change," he said.
"Do we have extra clothes?"
"Of course. Will you change?" he asked. I nodded.
"Can you hold this for me?" I asked and handed him my do it yourself bait. He chuckled and accepted the rope in my hand. "Change too when I'm done. We don't want to get sick." He smiled and shoo me away.
I walked behind the huge tree. Believe me when I say huge. It's so thick that you can make two coffee tables just from its width. I scanned the place trying to see if anyone would dare to look at me while I'm getting dress. Looks empty.
All that could see me are trees and bushes. Maybe some fishes too?
"Where are you going to change?" he asked. I peeked at him and pouted.
"Here?"
His jaw clenched.
"You better be kidding me. The world can see you there Golden. You're really careless," he criticized. Damon looked at me with confused expression. "What's that?" he asked.
I looked down at the towel I'm wearing. This is not a regular towel. It does magic. I learned it from Elaine.
"It's a magic towel. It becomes a cubicle once I say the word change," I explained. My eyes grew big when the towel suddenly sprung free and becomes a cubicle. "Wow!" I've never seen it transform itself as one. That's so cool.
"Are you okay?" he asked.
"Yeah?" I answered excitedly. I heard his sexy laugh from the other side of the thin divider. I raised my clothes in the air just enough for him to see it. "I'll start to get change so look out for me alright?" I said.
I start to get undress. My clothes are soaking wet. We brought clothes with us but I'm not really sure if the clothes we brought are enough. Hlaford gave us two days for Fiscio's mission. If we failed to see him today, we'll have no choice but to skip tomorrow.
We'll be no help after that.
I hung my clothes in the cubicle and start wearing the dry one. This is just a regular dress. I'm quite surprised that it didn't disappointment me. I kind of wanted to wear a dress today. I just feel like I'll need it soon.
"Done?" I hear him asked.
"Dressed." That one word from me made the towel go back to its proper form. I looked at Damon who's apparently staring at me like I'm the most beautiful girl he has ever seen. He never fails to flatter me without saying a word.
He always has this something in his eyes that makes me feel like he wants to keep me forever. It's nice. It feels nice.
"You look gorgeous," he compliments. I looked at him with proud eyes.
"I know that already."
He chuckled. I pouted and hand him the towel. "Go and change too. Just say the magic word."
"I would like to get dressed in front of you," he said playfully and wiggled his brows.
"Good idea. I should probably get undress again and do the same to you so that the world can see us," I said sarcastically and smiled.
"Fuck that!" he cursed and rolled his eyes making me burst into laughter.
