Damon took care of me the whole time. He fed and clothed me. It was embarrassing but I find it cute.
I feel much better now. I can move my back and stand up. That's why we decided to leave already. I knew that we had to go home as soon as possible. I could feel the significance of what Hlaford wishes to tell us.
"I'm really grateful of your kindness," I said politely and bow my head. Damon did the same. We're leaving already and trust me when I say I'm truly grateful of him. I know that you guys might be thinking that he's a jerk but apparently, he was actually fighting Selda's spell.
Selda tried to control the minds of the Vortans including him. As a matter of fact, the Dragunus we saw on the batailen wasn't him. He was an impostor. A shape shifter. I feel like I know him... or her.
"I'm very sorry. I trusted the wrong person," he apologized. I raised my head and smiled.
"You're not at fault God Dragunus. We're all victims." I gave him a warm smile. I know that it still pains him but I fully understand the situation unlike the guy beside me who's still mad about what happened. He couldn't forgive the god of Dragonia. He said that he put my life at risk.
I squeezed Damon's hand. He looked at me and rolled his eyes.
Dummy!
"I wish for your peaceful departure. I will send guards to escort you," he says and prompted the armed Dragonians behind him. I immediately stop them by shaking my head.
"No! It's okay. You don't have to worry yourself. We'll arrive on Spheria in one piece," I rejected politely. He heaves a sigh and halt the guards. "Thank you so much. I'm looking forward of meeting you again."
We wanted to see Crystal but we're running out of time. I heard from Dragunus that Hlaford's subject has something to do with Fiscio and God Gaviel's lost bludgeon. We have to find that immediately.
Damon didn't want to bow his head but I forced him.
Dragunus chanted a spell and a red portal appeared in front of us. I hold Damon's hand. "Ready?" he whispers. I nodded.
We entered the portal with huge smiles in our faces. We're glad to be back. My eyes twinkled when the colorful view of my home welcomed us. I unconsciously bite my lower lip and look around. The world of dragons sure made me feel lonely because of their darker ambiance. This is my home!
"You look so happy," he snickers. I glanced at him and giggled.
"Of course, I am. Spheria is just wonderful!" I chirped.
"Welcome back love birds!" someone cheered. I looked in front to see our two friends waving a small banner with a 'congratulations!' text written on it. I chuckled softly. "We missed you so freaking much!" Elaine squeaks and run to me.
I accepted her tight embrace and wave at his calm parsen. Gabby wiggled his brows and bumped fists with Damon. They're close now, huh?
"I heard you guys won!" Elaine said and pulled herself away from me. I looked at her confused.
"How'd you know?"
She rolled her eyes.
"Duh! Gabby can read minds and he happens to read the mind of a future teller," she flaunted. I laughed. Oh gosh! I wasn't expecting them to know already. It was supposed to be a surprise.
"I also heard Damon's a big guy." She wiggled her brows.
"Huh? What do you mean?" I asked.
"Oh c'mon! Your guy's a rare dragon. Girl he's like the last pure dragon in the whole Vortaxia." I smiled. Yes, he is.
"I didn't know. I wasn't able to witness it because I was dead that time," I answered in a small voice. Her eyes went wide and her jaw literally dropped on the ground.
"WHAT!" she yells exaggeratedly. She scooted away from me. "Are you saying that you are dead and I'm talking to a ghost now!" She runs behind his innocent boyfriend. I shook my head amusedly went to my parsen. We have to go.
"Let's go?" I asked. He looked at me and nods his head.
"Hey! Answer me you ghost!" she yells. I just laughed and wave my hand.
"We're leaving. God Hlaford's expecting us. Awoo!" I tried to scare her and I wasn't actually expecting it to work. I laughed so hard when she starts to run away. I look at his confused parsen. "Follow her before she hits her head," I joked.
I watched him walk away and divert my attention to my waiting Damon.
"Let's go," I told him. We walked to the plain grass fields and enjoy the whiff of wind hitting our faces. It was a last minute relaxing moment. The mood changed instantly when we arrived in Hlaford's office.
"I'm glad you made it back safely," he greets. He offered as a seat and we gladly accepted it. "I will not confuse you both with tangled explanations." He looked at us seriously. "We need your help."
I looked at Damon.
"We've been courting Fiscio. We believe that he knows something on where to find Gaviel's bludgeon but it's not spilling anything. We tried asking for other Gods to come and ask him but it doesn't speak anything. I was wondering if you can help us. I know you can," he says.
This is what I'm talking about. I knew that this day would come.
"It's our greatest pleasure. We want to help God Hlaford. It's the least thing we can do," I answered urgently without asking for Damon's consent. I saw how his head turned to look at me in my peripheral vision.
"What do you mean! You just got better, Golden. This is not a children's play. This is a serious thing!" he objected. I rolled my eyes mentally.
"Minimize your voice," I whispered but he didn't listen.
"No! You can't just accept this quest. The sacred fish asks for difficult objects as a bribe. We might get ourselves in trouble if it ever liked us. I don't want to risk your life again," he tantrums. I sheepishly glance at the god sitting in front of us.
How can he say that in front of him. Ever since that dying incident, he became so protective. I hate it!
"Damon seriously calm down. I'm not going to die," I answered. His jaw clenched.
"DON'T SAY THAT WORD!" he growled. Oh shit...
I looked at God Hlaford. "I'm really sorry! Can we postponed this conversation? He is not well yet," I said apologetically. He smiled genuinely and rest his back on the chair.
"Blessed," he answered amusedly.
I clicked my knuckles secretly. This asshole is about to get beaten. Argh!
