Chapter 41

Batailen came earlier before we knew it. We did all the preparations we needed. We trained and practiced for days and even nights. I was so nervous about the thought of visiting Dragonia Kingdom for the batailen.
"I'm sorry!" I squaked when I accidentally poured out the hot drink on his lap.
"It's alright, baby. Here let me help you," he said sweetly and handed me his hand. I wanted to blame myself for pouring the smoking hot coffee on his lap but he seemed to not really care about it. He doesn't look hurt or anything. Perks of being a dragon, I guess?
"Are you that nervous?" he asked.
I forced a smile.
"Sort of," I answered honestly. He looked at me with his dilated green eyes.
"Don't be scared. I won't let them hurt you. And the Gods will be watching us. I'm sure that they will not let anything bad happen to me and you," he comforted. He holds my hand and smiled.
We're still in our chamber. Still waiting for Diante to call each and everyone of us. It's past noon and we still haven't heard anything from anyone yet.
"Will there be rounds?" I asked him. I wasn't able to hide the nervousness in my voice. He gave me a comforting smile and shook his head.
"No, it's a one time battle baby," he answers. My lips curved into a smile. What a relief.
[Everyone...]
My eyes grew big when I heard a familiar voice. It's a voice coming from outside. It was so loud, like a man speaking to a megaphone.
[This is the God of Classife, Diante. I would love to have you here with me on the Classidium. Please hurry! I feel alone.]
I chuckled.
[Oh! And don't forget your gears and weapons. Do me a favor and fly your bummes in here.]
I laughed softly. He has a way in making us less tense by using his undying humor. I stared at my handsome parsen. He stood up and lend me his hand. "Let's go? Petunia and Cronosus is waiting."
I accepted his hand and smiled.
We headed down the hall with a tense smile plastered on my face. I just can't. My face brightens when I saw Elaine and Gabby. She waved at us cheerfully.
"Y'all excited?" she chirped. I forced a nod. Hell yeah we are.
"She isn't," Gabby snickers. I chuckled. We have a telepathic guy right here.
"You're still nervous!" she blurted as we walked down the halls. I carefully nodded. "Oh c'mon Golden! You're not called the prophecy girl for nothing," she says loudly. I hide my face when some chosens look at us.
"Your voice," Gabby slurs. Elaine just rolled her eyes.
"It's not bad to feel nervous right? That only means we'll do out best," Damon says and smiled. His words gave warmth to me.
"I love you," I mouthed to him. He just winked at me and mouthed the same words back.
We arrived at the fields where the unicors are waiting. They're all in their prep positions and looking at us.
"Good afternoon masters!" Cronosus greets. He stopped in front of us. I smiled when I saw Petunia tailing him at the back.
"Hello love birds!" she cheerfully greets and gave us a wink. The pixie dust are everywhere. It's colorful!
We had a small talk and Damon helped me get on Petunia's back. I don't know when but I found myself flying across the sky. Damon and Cronusus are behind us.
"You seemed nervous young lady," Petunia started. I smiled and caress her hair.
"A little. I mean, who wouldn't? You're aware that I do not have a gift, right?" I told her. She makes a funny sound. I chuckled.
"We're almost there! Brace yourself," she warned. I hold on to her tightly. We descended to the ground fast.
Fear crept in me when we had arrived on the classidium. I see a lot of Chosens arriving as well and I couldn't hide the nervousness in my face. I smiled when I saw Damon's hand. "It's okay," he comforted.
He helped me get down and we walked to the Classidium silently.
It felt like our first time. The number of people sitting on the bleachers still overwhelms me. Damon squeeze my hand as we make our way to our special spot located at the front seat.
We were the only different Vortans in here. A dragon and a powerless Chosen.
The classidium was immediately filled with tons of Chosens. They started cheering and talking to one another while I and Damon, on the other hand, were staring at them. Trying to observe if they will take this Batailen too seriously and hurt one another.
But based from what I seeing, It looks like a friendly fight is bound to happen.
My face brightens when I finally see the God of Classife, our very own mentor, Diante. He's wearing a different outfit today. He's more covered today, hmm?
"Vestacios Chosens!" he greeted loudly. His deep and raspy voice echoed in the bowl. The crowd turned silent and everyone's looking up to him already. "I see a lot of different emotions today! Are y'all nervous?" he asked. I wanted to say yes but I just stayed silent. Everyone answered him in chorus.
"As all of you may know, Batailen is a friendly battle practiced by our ancestors before we even came to Vortaxia. It is a way of improving one's gifts and battle skills. I would like to remind all of you that this is a FRIENDLY BATTLE. No one shall cause any harm to one another. Do y'all understand?" he announced. Damon squeezes my hand. I looked at him.
"I told you," he mouthed.
"Please look at the tall tree ahead of you," Diante orders. I looked in front to see a beautiful tree with tons of small growing papers. "This is the Niest Chosen Tree, it will be the one to decide to who will be your friendly opponent. Have your palms touched the invisible scanners in front of you," he said. I stared at what's in front of me to see nothing.
Oh yeah, invisible.
I just did what he said and I winced when a small light flashes before my eyes.
Diante then picked the red paper the tree had bear and read it loudly.
"For our first pair, Elaine and Gabby," he announced. I looked at my friends who's apparently sitting away from each other. They looked astounded.
Diante picked the blue paper the tree had bear.
"For our second pair, Gina and Luca," he announced.
I blew a sigh. Guess this is more nervousing than what I expected.
