Chapter 5

Golden's POV

I examined the envelope and I saw my name at the back. "So this is mine?" I mumbled to myself. I opened the envelope and found a letter inside.

"Let's see..." I opened the letter and read the classic cursive writings silently. "Dear Miss Golden Young, We are very pleased to invite you to Vortaxia. We will be expecting you on Sunday, November 11, at exactly 11:11 p.m." My face became sour from the cheesy date and time. What is this?

I continued reading. "It's our pleasure to guide you and help you enhance your gift. Vestacios Vortan!" I bit my lip unconsciously. Is this a belated Halloween party? I don't remember joining one though. I shrugged my shoulders and continued watching the movie.

"Morning," Tanya yawned. I gave her a small smile while cooking my breakfast. I flipped the egg and watched her grab a milk from the fridge.

She doesn't have a guy tailing her around. She must have had a good sleep.

I suddenly recalled about the invitation card. Should I ask her if she received one too? I don't have any friends to invite me to parties and I think a friend of hers must have invited me. "Hey uhmm. Can I ask you something?" I started.

She stopped scrolling on her phone and glanced at me. "Yeah sure," she responded.

"I found this invitation in my room. Do you have it too?" I asked. She shook her head and my eyebrows furrowed. Then she must be the one who brought it inside my room.

"Who gave it then?" I asked. She shrugged her shoulders. "I didn't pick any letters. I went home wasted, you know," she said. Then how did that invitation ended up in my room?

I always locked my room and only Tanya can open it because she knows that I hide my keys under my carpet. That's weird...

I shrugged the thoughts away and ate my breakfast. I made sure to prepare a sandwich before I went out to work. I smiled when I finally saw her on her usual spot. I walked towards the curb and she smiled when she saw me.

"It's you!" she excitedly said and the corners of my lips automatically smiles. "Where you've been?" I asked her. I gave her the sandwich. She's a forty year old panhandler that I met a month ago.

Ever since I saw her the first time, I had this feeling that I know her and she's somewhat close to me. It's kind of weird actually. I just find myself giving her food and clothes. I feel comfortable around her. "Do you still don't know where your family could be?" I asked her.

She looked at the sky and smiled. "A family once gave me shelter. But unfortunately they lost their lives from saving me. And I promised to to take care of their daughter with all my life," she said and looked at me.

"I didn't have a power to do so that's why I gave her to a family who can raise her. And I end up being like this," she added. I suddenly felt a stung in my heart and it might sounds weird but I feel like she was referring to me.

"I'm sorry about that," I apologized and she smiled. "It's not your fault. You should head to work now," she said. I nodded and waved bye to her. Like what I usually do I just walked my way to work.

"Morning, Gold," Travis greeted while smiling at me sweetly. I put my belongings to my locker and smiled back at him.

"Morning," I answered.

"So what happened last night?" he asked as we clean the club's mess from the party last night.

"It went good," I lied.

I scowled when he chuckled. "You're so terrible at lying. Haha!" he said and I just rolled my eyes while forcing myself to not smile.

"Cute," he muttered.

A sound of footsteps caught our attention and my eyes widened when I recognized the guy walking towards us. "We're still close, Sir," Travis politely said to the albino guy. He ignored Travis and kept his gaze at me.

"It's okay. I'd like a glass of wine," he said to Travis while still looking at me. I awkwardly smiled at him and turned my back to get some wine.

It's too early for a drink. "Do you know him?" Travis asked while putting the box of wines to the stand. It's the same box that the albino guy lifted last night.

"N-Not really. He was one of the guest last night," I responded while filling a glass with wine.

"He looks strange. Don't you think?" he said and I suddenly felt mad at him. Why would he say that he is strange? He has no right to judge someone with their physical appearance. He doesn't even know him yet.

"Stop being judgemental, Travis," I scolded and glared at him. He raised both of his hands. "I'm just saying," he defended himself. I rolled my eyes and gave the wine to the albino guy.

"Here's your wine, Sir," I politely said. He lifted his head and my eyes met his green almond-shaped eyes again. My mind is telling me to look away but my body is reacting the opposite.

I suddenly felt the urge to sit with him and asked him his name but I stopped myself.

For Pete's sake Golden you're working!

I've never been so interested with someone before. There's something about him that's pulling me closer.

"I'm Damon. Nice to meet you Golden," he plainly said. My eyes widened when he mentioned my name. How did he know my name?

"H-How did you..." I asked and he looked at my chest. I thought he wanted to tell me something different but I realized that I'm wearing my name tag.

My cheeks heated from embarrassment and walked away. Even if I'm not looking at him, I can feel his stares as I walked back to the counter.

What's happening to me?!
