Chapter 18

1002words
Things between us were perfect. She was sweet, caring, loving and understanding. At one point, I thought about us finishing high school, going to the same college and me marrying her.

But something changed. She changed. Brooke suddenly became disrespectful, insecure and was always getting on my last nerves.

It became the last straw last Christmas. My mother would prepare a Christmas feast for the family. Eats and drinks that could send you into a food coma would line our dinner table. I invited Brooke over and she came with the nastiest attitude.

She was bad-mouthing my mother's cooking and she was wearing a sheer top with nipple coverings underneath only, and a mini skirt, that if you look at it, you'll see more than just a skirt.

Dinner wasn't the same, thanks to Brooke. My mother was annoyed by her behaviour and she put her in check and told her to leave.

I walked Brooke out and she called my mom a bitch to my face. I can't describe how upset that made me. I ended the relationship right there and then.

She apologised more times than I can count but for my peace of mind, I couldn't take her back. When it dawned on her that we were over, she turned into a bully and she'll bully anyone who tries to get close to me, especially the females."

"That's unhealthy. But if she loves you so much, why would she lie to the police to get you into trouble?"

"Because she wants my attention but someone else has it now." I took Blossom's palm into mine and kissed her knuckles lightly.

"I'm missing you at school."

"I'm missing you too."

A silence approached. I looked deeply into Blossom's beautiful brown eyes. She smiled at me shyly. My body inched towards hers. I cupped her face in my hand and kissed her lips gently, feeling her slight shivering in my hold. My hands then went around her tiny waist, drawing and pressing her right up to me.

I melted into a kiss some more, savouring the moment we were having. When we finally broke apart, I was out of breath.

"Do you want to see my room?" she asked.

"Okay." I followed her upstairs and into a small bedroom. The bed sheets were plain and simple and so was everything else, but I liked it.

We sat down and I reached for a book on the table next to her bed.

"That's my favourite story. I read it every Easter," she said.

"What's it about?"

"A boy who was in love with a girl but he was so poor that girl's family didn't want her to be with him. He was made fun of and bullied. He even thought about jumping off a cliff, to his death. But when he was about to do just that, a wise woman found him and talked him out of it. She took him in, since his parents weren't alive, and she changed his life.

He became educated and rich and bought a big house to live in. And when the girl's family saw that he was  rich and successful, they wanted their daughter to marry him but he refused and he got married to a poor woman who had always showed him kindness since he was as poor as her once upon a time.

And they lived happily ever after."

"Sounds very interesting."

"It is. My father gave me that book as a birthday present before he died."

"I'm sorry to hear that."

"It's okay. He's in a better place."

I nodded in agreement and put the book back on the table before hugging her by the shoulders.

"I want to take you out and treat you and spoil you and show you off to the world. You've agreed to be my girl and there're so much I want us to do together."

"Really?"

That weekend, I made it all happened. My father had given me my weekend allowance and something extra since I've told him that I had a new girlfriend and I wanted to take her out and treat her.

On Saturday, at 10:30 A.M, I pulled up to Blossom's house yet again. She was already dressed and was waiting by the door.

We drove into the city and went shopping in the most popular boutiques.

Blossom modelled the clothes she picked out to get my approval on them. She made everything look good. She could model a potato sack and I'll still be captivated by her beauty.

After we had more shopping bags than we can carry, I drove us to a restaurant to get a bite to eat.

We both ordered an Angus Burger with fries and orange juice. After that, we went to the movies. I took pictures of Blossom throughout the day and uploaded them on my social medias.

The first picture on the facebook page got over one thousand reactions and comments, mainly from everyone at school.

'You guys are cute.'

'Amazing couple.'

'The new girlfriend is super cute. I love her skin colour.'

But of course, there were a few bitter ones.

'She could never replace Brooke.'

'That African girl is no Brooke. Brooke and Jevan forever! #Bevan

I'll have some blocking to do.

Last thing on my list to do with Blossom, was to take her to a hotel, just for the experience of it. Our relationship was just beginning to blossom (great play on words) and I didn't want to force her to do anything she wasn't ready to do.

"A hotel... Are we going to.. Because I didn't know you were taking me here," she said as I pulled up to the hotel and handed the valet the keys.

"Hey, we're not here to do anything you're not ready to do. We're here just for the experience. When you told me you've never been to a hotel before, I thought this would be a great idea to just chill in one today. Okay?"
