Chapter 51 Share Me

A shiver coursed down my body as the words left his smooth lips, "Isn't it late for a little wolf to be roaming the halls alone?" I struggled to form a coherent sentence, lost in a dream at the intense green eyes that now lived in my soul. My wolf screamed for her mate, repulsed that this man was so close to us. I, on the other hand, was strangely intrigued. His hand ran down the length of my throat as he licked his bottom lip like a lion about to feast on his prey. "Such a pretty throat begging to feel my cock inside it. You know Alpha Jaxon and I are good friends; I'm sure he wouldn't mind sharing his little toy with me."
A growl escaped my chest. Bailey had been right—Alpha Christian was nothing but trouble. I wasn't surprised that he was considered a playboy; there was something about his dark charm that was enticing. "Try again, Alpha," I spat at him and shoved him off my body, which was pressed against the wall. I thought I had pushed him off just enough to give myself an opening to escape, when a firm hold grabbed my wrist and pulled me against him.
"Hmm, nothing gets me hard like a feisty little wolf. Looks like she's looking for a punishment," Alpha Christian exclaimed, pressing his hardness into my core. With his arm wrapped tightly around my waist, he ran his other hand down my breast over the white t-shirt I was wearing. Releasing a sinister moan, I realized I was dancing with the devil himself.
I knew the mind link would gradually show up, but since I had just pledged my allegiance to Midnight Moon Pack today, my link was still not intact with my pack. Fuck, I wished I could've linked Sophia right now. She would have saved me like my knight in shining armor. Even Beta Don would have done the job right now. Alpha Jaxon, on the other hand, would surely have lost his head and caused a war between the packs.
I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. I had decided that the only way I was going to get out of this mess was to play it smart. Resisting would only make it worse. Alpha Christian was much stronger than I was, and he was an Alpha, which meant I had no chance of physically fighting him off. I batted my eyelashes at him and seductively traced them down the navy suit he wore; the top buttons of his dress shirt sat undone. "A punishment, you say? Hmm, what exactly do you have in mind, Alpha?" I was determined to keep him talking until he trusted me enough to loosen his hold, then I would make a run for it. I knew there was a small chance I could outrun an Alpha, but while I was considered weak for a wolf, I knew I was faster and more agile than most regular shifters.
I saw that I was getting a reaction out of him, his green eyes darkening with lust. CLAP. I let out a gasp when pain radiated through my body as Alpha Christian slapped my ass, then gave it a rough squeeze. "Look at that handful bouncing in my hand. Imagine my face suffocating in it, Adeline. You'd like that, wouldn't you?" he said, looking flustered. Almost there, I kept telling myself, desperate to run into the arms of my mate.
I skimmed my fingertips across his chest, under his dress shirt where the buttons had been undone. His chest quickly rose, trying to control himself. I noticed he had a tattoo on his chest, covered by his shirt. He was certainly ripped, muscles bulging from every angle, but he wasn't nearly as big as Alpha Jaxon. My mate, I thought for a second.
I reached for Alpha Christian's hand and used it to help me spin around. When I faced away from him, I seductively bent down like I had seen done in movies with strippers in the human world, pressing my ass against his hardness. He choked out a groan while I swayed my hips to grind against him for a second. I was certain he no longer had a grip on me, so I stood up and turned to face him. "It's getting a little late, isn't it, Alpha?" I said and let out an exaggerated yawn. A smirk formed on his lips. "I can promise you neither of us will be doing any sleeping tonight." I felt the temperature rising in my body; it was now or never. "Come on, Adeline, you can do this. Mate is waiting," my wolf whispered.
I had once learned some self-defense techniques when Bailey and I decided it would be fun to try boxing. It was neither fun nor did we learn much. There was one move etched into my mind, though—guaranteed to work every time. I lifted my knee with as much force as I could muster and gave Alpha Christian a blow between his legs. He grabbed himself in utter shock, and I ran like my life depended on it. I quickly jolted my head to judge how far he was from me and saw him chuckle and yell, "There's nothing like a good chase," releasing a deep howl from his chest.
When I finally passed the dining hall of the pack house, I kept running even though I had no idea where I was going until I banged against a broad chest. "What's got you in such a hurry?" Beta Don stared down at me and chuckled. "Ahh... going for a... run?" I said questioningly. His eyes darted behind me for a second, making my heart stop. Alpha Christian could still be on my tail, but then he lowered his gaze back to mine, which made me relax. "Uh-huh, news to me that shifters now prefer the halls of the pack house to the forest. But hey! What would I know?" he taunted lightheartedly.
"Okay, you've caught me," I said, raising my hands in surrender. "I've been lost this entire time. Can you show me how to get to my room, please?" He shook his head at me and replied, "You're an odd wolf, you know that, Adeline?" I nodded and followed his lead, thankful to have found him amid the hurricane of trouble I had just run from.
We roamed the hall, passing multiple rooms until we finally found the white marble staircase. "So, how are you finding Midnight Moon?" he asked casually as we climbed the stairs. I smiled, concentrating on the steps before me. "It's a lot bigger than Silver Moon, that's for sure. There's also a massive bitch I can't seem to shake off. Also, Sophia told me that female shifters are expected to train?"
A deep chuckle vibrated in Beta Don's chest. "First, the bitch is soon to be disposed of, and good riddance for that. Alpha Jaxon has requested to announce that the mating is off at the Alpha meeting tomorrow. And yes, female shifters do train in Midnight Moon. I believe I have you down to begin in two weeks."
My heart leapt with happiness at his words. Alpha Jaxon was actually serious about taking me as his mate. It wasn't that I didn't believe him when he told me, but my own insecurities sometimes took over.
"I know she's planning on challenging me. She's not going to go away easily. Sophia said I could maybe train with her? Do you think that would be okay? I just don't want to go into a battle blind, you know?" I told him, hopeful he would agree. He scoffed at me as we reached the top of the staircase. "You don't need to ask me for permission to do anything. You are the next Luna of Midnight Moon. I do think it's wise to start training now, though. That way, you'll be prepared for anything."
I gave him a reassuring smile while we stood outside my bedroom door. "Thanks again for walking me, Beta Don. I really appreciate it," I said in my most confident voice. He nodded and turned on his heels to head back downstairs. I heard him stop in his tracks and shot my eyes over my shoulder. "And Addie... just my two cents, I think you're stronger than you realize." He gave me one last smile and disappeared down the staircase.
