Chapter 5

When I returned to the apartment, night had completely enveloped New York.

Outside the floor-to-ceiling windows stretched a brilliant sea of lights. I held a glass of red wine, bare feet on the cold floor, replaying in my mind Vince's face, white as paper.

The doorbell rang on time.

I put down my wine glass and strolled unhurriedly to open the door.

Luke had arrived. Of course he wouldn't listen to his brother.

I stepped aside to let him in, my fingertips lightly brushing against his warm cheek.

He took the opportunity to grasp my hand, bringing it to his lips for a kiss, his eyes full of eagerness.

I allowed him to come closer, my fingers running through his soft hair, gently caressing. His body trembled slightly at my touch, his breathing becoming rapid.

I pulled him onto the sofa, curling up in his arms, my fingertips drawing circles on his chest.

City lights shone brightly through the floor-to-ceiling windows, reflecting in his beautiful eyes where emotions surged.

I tilted my head up, my nose brushing against his chin, my voice soft and gentle.

"We've been dating for three months now, shouldn't we take things to the next level?"

Luke's body instantly stiffened, his breathing paused for a moment.

I continued in an innocent tone, adding fuel to this raging fire.

"Didn't you agree earlier today? When we were at the beach, you said you wanted to travel with me next week for your birthday, and then..."

I deliberately stopped there, drawing out the final syllable, letting the ambiguous atmosphere hang in the air.

Jealousy and intense possessiveness burned away his last shred of rationality. He suddenly gripped my wrist and eagerly interrupted me.

"Do we have to wait until next week? Tonight... just tonight, okay?"

His voice carried a slight tremor, his eyes filled with an intense desire that couldn't be dissolved. He even adopted an almost pleading tone.

"Please, Ella."

I pretended to hesitate, furrowing my brows as I withdrew my hand.

"But... the flights and hotel for Iceland are already booked, and I really wanted to see the aurora."

My refusal drove him to become even more desperate, his entire body pressing forward, trapping me in the corner of the sofa.

"I don't care about any of that! I only want now!"

Seeing him lose control, I finally nodded "reluctantly."

Luke was overjoyed, as if he had obtained some priceless treasure. He picked me up in one swift motion, covering me with fervent kisses.

He carried me, striding toward the bedroom while I wrapped my arms around his neck. At an angle he couldn't see, I curled my lips into a smug smile.

Indeed, innocent prey is the easiest to hook.

This game? I already have it in the bag.

As the night deepened, Luke, like a tireless young beast, worked hard to please me. Sweat slid down his smooth muscle lines, dripping onto the sheets, spreading into small dark patches.

In the midst of panting, he suddenly propped himself up, staring at me with burning eyes, stubbornly pressing:

"Besides my face, what else do you like about me?"

I didn't answer immediately, just reached out my hand, slowly tracing his brows and eyes with my fingertips, his nose, and those thin lips identical to Vince's.

He grew impatient with my silence, grabbed my hand, and asked again.

Only then did I speak languidly, each word like a feather, lightly tickling his heart.

"I like your passion, your clinginess, and also..."

I leaned close to his ear, my breath warm.

"You at night, I like it all."

Luke sighed with satisfaction, embracing me again, believing he had finally won my heart.
