Fenrir guided me to a room, his gaze dark and mysterious, his voice slightly husky.
"Change your clothes. There are fresh ones in the closet."
His eyes smoldered with heat. I glanced down at myself.
My thin blouse was soaked through, clinging to my skin and turning nearly transparent!
My cheeks burned as I hugged myself, mumbling "sorry" before hurrying into the dressing room.
I missed the way Fenrir's Adam's apple bobbed and how his eyes darkened with desire.
When I emerged, Fenrir was changing with his back to me, the taut muscles rippling beneath his skin.
A strange thirst came over me, heat pooling low in my belly.
For some inexplicable reason, I wondered: if Cassian could do it, why couldn't I?
Following my impulse, I reached out to caress his back, but he caught my wrist mid-air.
"What are you doing?"
I met his gaze boldly. "Aren't we... engaged now?"
Our heated gazes locked as my eyes traced the contours of his muscular chest.
Fenrir crushed his lips against mine, backing me against the dressing table. Before I could react, his tongue claimed my mouth.
He tasted me thoroughly, devouring me with each stroke.
Pleasure rippled through me as I surrendered to his touch.
Suddenly, my uncle's roaring voice filled my mind, demanding my immediate return.
My heart clenched painfully. The telepathic bond between Luna and Alpha made me realize—
Something had happened to Cassian.
I pushed Fenrir away abruptly.
He frowned. "What's wrong?"
Cassian's pain transmitted clearly through our bond. My hands trembled violently.
"I'm sorry, but I have to go. Something's happened to Cassian..."
I forced a smile.
Fenrir's expression hardened, his voice turning cold.
"He just abandoned you for another woman, and you still want to run back to him?"
Even though Cassian had treated me terribly, even though I'd resolved to cut ties with him...
Once I knew he was hurt, I couldn't help the ache in my chest. The curse of being his Luna.
I thought about my uncle's family who had raised me, their lives completely dependent on Cassian's goodwill.
Fenrir had been kind and protected my dignity, but once Cassian recovered, he would surely seek revenge.
Should this stranger be punished for his kindness to me?
I released Fenrir's hand and shook my head.
"I'm sorry... this is my burden to bear."
He took a deep breath and stepped back. "Lyra, some chances come only once. Miss them, and they're gone forever."
His voice was calm, but the warmth had vanished.
Disappointment shadowed his eyes.
"So you choose Cassian after all."
"Yes."
I left Moonlight Manor.
I never knew that after I left, he swept everything in the room to the floor in rage.
The room lay in ruins.
His body tensed, veins bulging along his arms. Everyone in the Moon Shadow pack began to panic.
Because they sensed the fury of—
The Alpha King of Moon Shadow.
