"But there are things about me that you don't know yet and I'm afraid y'all hate me after I tell you what needs to be told. I don't want you to hate me or yourself for what I'm about to tell you."
My heated skin immediately froze over, sending goosebumps up my arms. I didn't like the sound of that and wondered what he could possibly tell me. There wasn't one thing that I didn't like about him. He had to know that, right? Surely, he knew I was the kind of girl who didn't just sleep with random men. But who the hell am I kidding? We're in a sexual relationship.
"Lynn, I.."
My phone rang and totally ruined the moment.
"Shit, I'm sorry." I pulled my phone out and saw an unknown number on the screen, hitting the ignore button before glancing back at him.
He let out a nervous chuckle, ran his hand over his face and tried again. "I am...."
My phone rang again, oh my God!!
"Answer it," He suggested, "it might be something important if they're calling you again."
"I'm sorry," I repeated before answering the phone. "Hello?"
"Hi, I'm looking for Lynn Martinez."
"You're speaking with her," I chewed on my bottom lip with confusion, waiting for this lady to get on with it already. I'm in the middle of something here!!
"Jack Luis has you listed as his emergency contact. He's currently in the hospital at Lincoln memorial from an auto accident."
"Oh my God! Is he okay?!" What happened?", My panicked eyes moved to Drake as I saw fear looking back at me.
"I can't give you any information over the phone. You may come down here and the doctor will discuss everything."
"I'll be right there," I hung up and launched myself from my seat. "Pierre's is in the hospital!" I cried.
"What?!". Drake jumped up too.
"Come on, I'll take you there now!"
He grabbed my hand and pulled me through the house. If I wasn't so distracted wondering whether Luis was okay or not, I'd be thinking to deeply into this hand holding thing.
We jumped in his Audi and Drake pulled out like a bat out of hell, racing toward the freeway as I told him which hospital he was at. No words were spoken between the two of us, but Drake never let go of my hand. I loved that he was trying to silently give me his support. I just pray that Luis is okay or I'll die.
The hospital came into view and Drake found a spot right up front, helping me out the moment he ran around the front. We rushed into the main doors and right up to the front deck, "I was informed that Jack Luis is here. Can I go to see him, please?" I was speaking faster than lightning and her confused brow made me wonder if she understood me.
"I need to see your ID." She held out her hand as I popped my phone case off and pulled the license out, handing it to her. Her eyes scanned over the card before she passed it back to me. "Alright, Ms. Martinez. Take elevator door five up to the sixth level. That's the ICU, from there, they will instruct you where Mr. Luis is." Then her eyes traveled to Drake before she frowned. "He can't go up with you. You're the only one on Mr luis's emergency contact list."
My head whipped to Drake and I wanted to cry. I wanted him to come with me but I knew the mean looking woman behind the desk wouldn't let that happen.
"It's okay, Lynn," Drake stated, placing his hand on the small of my back as he led me away from the desk. "Go see how Luis is, I'll wait for you down here."
My heart melted at his words. He was going to wait for me.
"Thank you," I whispered, trying not to cry.
He led me toward elevator five and pressed the open button. When the doors slid open, I stepped in and immediately turned around to look at him. The small smirk on his lips and the way he was looking at me right now made my heart pound. Then I remembered what we were discussing before the scary phone call came in. What did he have to tell me? Why would I hate him? When I find out that Luis is okay, I'm going to come back down and finish that conversation.
The doors began to close and our eyes never broke eye contact. Gosh, he's fucking good looking. I lifted my hand and gave him a quick wave as he winked at me and then the doors finally closed.

DRAKE'S POV
Staring down at my phone, I don't think I was even reading anything. My nerves were all over the place and I hadn't heard a thing from Lynn about luis's condition just yet. She's been up there for a good thirty minutes now, but it felt like thirty hours. I've always hated hospitals and their waiting rooms even more.
Several people had come and gone through the ER doors and the dinging from the elevator doors always made me whip my head in that direction, but it was never Lynn coming out of them.
"Hey, I don't know you."
A voice caught my attention from a few chairs down as I turned to find a guy in his forties looking at me. He wore a leather biker jacket, ripped jeans, and black leather boots. His hair was long and his hands were tatted-up like mine.
"Don't think so, man," I replied, turning my gaze back to the elevator doors.
"Yeah! No, I definitely know you!" He stood up and took the spot right next to me, pulling out his phone.
