“Meow~” My eyes widen and it feels like my heart is going to jump because of its cuteness.
“Hey, adorable kitten, why are you here?” I asked and decided to get the cat.
The cat is hesitant to be touched by my hands. Its white fur with a touch of black was stunning and the cat looks like squishy.
I'm about to gently grab the cat when a person suddenly went inside.
“Hey, what are you doing?” a familiar voice echoes in my ear. I turned my head and found out that it was Kaye.
“If you don't mind, that's my kitten, I found her in the middle of the street and I decided to adopt her,” she stated.
I was stunned to speak. My jaw drop a bit. She walks in front of me and lifts the kitten from the box.
“I'm sorry if I left her in the box, I just can't find something that can be her temporary house this time.”
Furthermore, I follow her actions using my vision without changing my location.
In a few minutes of holding the cat, I heard her purr. My heart skipped a beat. She's an adorable kitten.
I turned my back at Kaye. I also want to adopt the kitten! By the way, why she's here? I thought she should be on serving the customers.
“Kaye? Why are you here? I thought you were assigned for serving the customers?” I asked. She glanced at me.
“Oh, about that, I want to organize our products and utensils, just like what you wanted,” she replied.
I don't know why I'm feeling this, but her tone was sarcastic, or it's just me?
I shrugged my shoulder and hold the side of my head. Stop thinking about some unnecessary things.
30 minutes have been passed. 1 hour left before my duty is going to an end. My phone vibrates.
My eyebrow raised a bit while staring at my phone screen. He emailed me again.
“Miss Astrid, I know you need this, so please come here immediately.” I took a deep sigh when I read his email.
Right, my card was in possession of someone who doesn't care about something. He was just an easy go lucky guy.
He smiles a lot when he's glancing at me, especially when we are in our classroom.
I heard the cat purr once again. “Maybe, she's hungry? Here is some bread.” I gave the bread to Kaye and she smiled at me.
“Thank you, maybe she's looking for her mother, so that's the reason why she keeps making sound,” she stated.
I returned to the counter. My decision changed, I just want to serve the customer peacefully.
The Barista watched my movements. “Be careful, you have 1 hour left on your duty, right?” the barista asked.
I looked at my wristwatch and nodded as my answer. The Barista put some brewed coffee in the tray and a piece of vanilla cake.
“These are for table number 10,” the barista said. I nodded and grabbed the tray with brewed coffee and vanilla cake.
When I begin to walk, some noises were echoing in the whole shop. They are gossiping about something, some of them are sad and some of them are alone.
Spending the afternoon with their selves without thinking about their own problems. I shrugged my shoulder and reached the table number 10.
“Here are your orders, Sir! Enjoy your food and please be comfortable while you are in our shop!” I greeted. He looked at my eyes for a moment.
My smiles fade away. He was just staring at my body and going back to my face. It seems like he was scanning my whole life.
“Uhm, Sir? Do you need anything?” I asked while staying still and trying not to be conscious.
He gasped and shook his head. “Alright, if you have a problem, don't hesitate to ask, thank you!” I smiled again before leaving the area.
“So, How's your experience?” The barista chuckles. I rolled my eyes and put down the tray on the counter.
“Why do you keep laughing? It's not funny!” I exclaimed. The barista just laughed while preparing the orders.
Why he didn't tell me that the customer is creepy and he was just trying to decide your faith in just staring at you.
My shoulder slumped down and decided to sit for a while. My energy was fading away. I glanced at my wristwatch.
I only have 40 minutes left and my duty was done.
All of a sudden, the coffee spilled on the floor of our customers. They stood up immediately and avoided the hot coffee.
I stand up and I'm about to get the mop when Kaye gave it to me. My eyebrow arched, really? She has it and she's allowed to wipe it.
Why did she give it to me? I scratched my head and went to the area while stomping my feet.
“Excuse me,” I stated. They were just looking at my actions. Hello? Why can't you just wipe it using the paper tissue, it's available on your tables.
“Clumsy, they can't just drink it without spilling on the floor? It's coffee so, automatically it's hot, that's why the mug had a handle,” I mumbled.
Beads of sweat are dripping at the side of my head while I'm mopping the floor. I sprayed some alcohol when it was done.
“Thank you, Miss!” the voice of a guy reached my ear. I looked at him and nodded. It's not my job, but since I noticed it, I cleaned it.
For the sake of our customers, just to make them satisfied without any problems or troubles.
I went to the bathroom while holding the mop. The job was hard, to be honest. However, I need a job to fulfill my needs.
Additionally, I'm still a student who needs a financial to support my studies. I don't want to stop, because it's my dream to be graduated from school.
My heart is racing because of dealing with the mop. It's heavy and hard to carry if it's wet.
Someone knocked at the door. “Yes? I'm cleaning the mop, why?” I asked without opening the door.
“I'm going to help you, besides my kitten needs some water,” Kaye replied. When I heard the word, Kitten, I automatically open the door.
She was holding a small cup for the kitten. “What do you think is her age?” I questioned. She glanced at me.
“Maybe, 5 months? I don't know, I'm going to the vet this weekend to check her health and see if there's any problem in her body.”
She puts some water on the cup. “Let me help you with drying the mop,” she added. I gave her the mop and we squeezed it together, so the water will be released from the cloth.
After a while, we were finally done washing the mop. It's sticky and smells because of the coffee.
“That's enough, let's go.” I nodded as a response to her. We went outside the bathroom and went to the Authorized room.
I glanced at my wristwatch, 10 minutes left before the end of my duty.
When I'm cleaning my things, the Barista went inside. “I'm hearing some sound of the cat,” the barista said.
My eyes widen and immediately looked for Kaye. Animals are not allowed in here, since it's the coffee shop.
“Cat? Where? I didn't hear anything,” I whispered and avoided the gaze while putting my things inside the bag.
“I'm pretty sure, it's a cat, the purr was echoing in my mind and I heard it a few minutes ago,” the barista added.
“Really? Animals are not allowed in here, maybe you just miss your cats,” I said while laughing pretending not to know something.
Alright, 5 minutes left and I'm ready to go.
“By the way, why are you here? Your duty is not done, right? Go away and I'm going to change my clothes,” I said with a cheerful voice.
I'm going home, so that's why I'm excited.
“If I catch a cat, you're dead,” the barista warned. I rolled my eyes.
“Duh, if you ever catch a cat for some reason, It's not mine,” I stated. I stand up and put my bag on my back.
“I'm not going to change, besides you didn't go outside, bye-bye! See you tomorrow! Take care!” I bid a goodbye.
My phone vibrates once again. “I'm still waiting for you.”
