"Mom's coming! Just hold on! Find somewhere safe to hide!"
Then, a blood-curdling scream from the other end.
"Ah—Mom, he's coming back!"
The line went dead.
Susan frantically tried redialing, but couldn't get through.
She shook John desperately, stammering,
"Do something! We lost her again! If anything happens to Emily, I'll die!"
She grabbed John's phone, desperately trying Emily's number.
I was in too much agony to move properly.
My father, though deeply disappointed, still showed concern.
He begged the police officer, "Can I please take my daughter to a doctor? She can't move her arm... We'll catch up with you later?"
Susan rushed over and shoved me back to the ground.
"Stop pretending! Getting scared of jail now? You deserve to die on the way there!"
She dragged me by the collar toward the police car.
My mother cried, gently pulling Susan's arm.
"Lily's arm is clearly deformed—she's not faking! Her father hit her too hard! Please let us get her medical attention—we're not going anywhere, we won't run..."
Susan slapped my mother across the face.
My mother fell to the ground.
I screamed, "Mom—!"
I tried to crawl toward her, but had no strength left.
Susan sneered, "Don't you touch me! Your whole family's fake! Acting all remorseful, but the moment my daughter gets accused, you change your tune!"
"Trying to protect her? Over my dead body! Unless we all die here today, she's the one responsible!"
John stepped forward, physically blocking Susan.
My parents retreated, defeated.
Pale and trembling, I feared the situation would escalate further.
Through gritted teeth, I managed, "I can handle it! I'm not seriously hurt! I'll go with you!"
