Nathan,fuming,started smashing things in my house.
I frowned unhappily. “Those were all bought with my hard-earned money. He’s so quick at smashing them.”
I patted Shadow in the passenger seat:”Let’s make him pay’til he’s broke.”
Shadow barked twice,full of spirit.
After watching the show, I took him to my hotel, after having a good meal, my lawyer and bodyguards had gradually arrived at Nathan’s hometown.
Seeing the Carters still squatting in my house,I smiled with relief. It was the perfect time to take back the house. I unlocked the door with my fingerprint.
Nathan, who had been relaxed before, looked at me warily. ”Back again? Can’t you understand what I’m saying?”
“As of now, we’re still husband and wife, and I have a share in this house. Don’t even think about driving me away, let alone my parents and my guests.”
I shrugged helplessly, sat on the chair in the living room, and nodded in agreement. “I think you’re right.”
He smirked,thinking he’d won:”If you’re here to apologize—”
My lawyer cut in:”Sorry to interrupt,but Ms.Bennett has sold this house.”
“Stay here,and the new owner can have you arrested for trespassing.Jail time.”
“So, please get out of this house... immediately.”
No sugarcoating.
Nathan shot up:”What?”
He rushed me,eyes wild:”You sold our house without my consent?Olivia,you’re heartless!”
“This was the house for Mom and Dad’s retirement!How could you?”
I laughed:”Heartless? Do you even deserve to say those two words? They’re your parents. Naturally, it’s your responsibility as a son to worry about them. What does it have to do with me?”
Mrs.Carter wailed:”What did I do to deserve this cruel daughter-in-law?”
Mr.Carter scolded:”How dare you humiliate your husband in front of strangers?”
Unfortunately, the methods they usually used on me had long since stopped working.
Before they could argue,I tossed the divorce papers at Nathan.
He picked them up,face darkening:”Clean divorce?Olivia,you’re money-obsessed!Why should I get nothing?”
I pointed at Chloe,deadpan:”Cheating.”
“Nothing happened with Chloe!Where’s your proof?That’s slander!”
I propped my chin,lazy:”She’s a month pregnant,right? What a coincidence. The hospital where she had the pregnancy checkup was opened by my friend.”
Before I could finish my sentence, Chloe instinctively clutched her stomach.
Nathan stared,shocked,then softened:”Why didn’t you tell me sooner?”
Bingo.I’d guessed right—Chloe was playing both sides.
The guy with her at the checkup wasn’t Nathan.
