Nathan frowned.”What’s this about?”
The property management staff replied politely, “Hello, we’re from the property management. We received a complaint from a property owner that someone broke into their house without permission, so we came to check it out.”
Nathan glanced at his parents.”Mom,Dad,you call them?”
They shook their heads.Even Chloe looked puzzled.
He turned back, annoyed:”No one from this house called you.Got the wrong place?”
“Could you please investigate thoroughly before coming to our door next time? Don’t keep causing trouble for us property owners...”
“I called,”I interrupted.
Nathan’s anger swung to me:”Olivia Bennett, have you had enough? First cops, now this? What’s your deal?”
“It’s Christmas Eve—can you chill? Do you want to ruin everyone’s Christmas?”
I stared coldly.You deserve a peaceful holiday?
Ignoring him,I addressed the manager:”Please remove everyone from my house.”
The manager hesitated.
Nathan exploded:”Olivia,you’re insane!This is my house—why should I leave?”
“Stop messing around and go to cook!”
Mr.and Mrs.Carter joined in:”Olivia,you’re out of line!”
“This is our house. If anyone leaves,it’s you!”
Chloe piped up:”Yeah, this is Nathan’s home. What right do you have to kick us out?”
I didn’t even raise my eyelids. I just looked at the property management staff :”You can check the deed, right?”
The property management staff nodded blankly, not understanding our situation.
“Who’s the owner?”
He checked through the system:”It’s listed under Olivia Bennett.”
“As the homeowner,I can evict trespassers, correct?”
“Well…yes.”
Nathan cut in:”Olivia,don’t push it!”
I crossed my arms, unfazed:”You’ve eaten my food, used my money, lived in my house. You,a freeloader, have the gall to bring your mistress here for Christmas? Do I look like I’m missing a few screws to keep serving you?”
The manager’s ears perked at”mistress,”his eyes darting inside.
Upon hearing me call her a mistress, Chloe ‘s face turned red instantly.”You can’t call me that!I’ll sue for defamation!”
I raised a brow and looked at her,”Oh?You’re not?”
“Spending Christmas with a married man instead of your own family?Barging into his home? What’s your game?Playing mistress and martyr?”
Seeing that she couldn’t argue with me, she faltered, turning to Nathan.
He stepped in front:”Olivia, enough! You’re the one in the wrong—why drag Chloe into this?”
I ignored him, directly ordering the manager, “Hurry up and drive them out.”
The property management staff rolled up their sleeves and was about to take action.
Nathan blocked the door:”Even if you bought it,this is still my home. You can’t kick me out.”
I tilted my head.”We’re getting divorced soon.”
He froze,but I cut him off:”Leave now,or I call the cops again.”
With security’s help,Nathan, his family, and Chloe were escorted out of the complex.
Nathan tried grabbing the car keys, but I snatched them:”Sorry,I bought the car too. If you take it, it’ll be considered stealing!”
He looked at me unwillingly, but he had no choice.
The house emptied, save for Shadow, the dog they’d fought to save but forgot.
I crouched, meeting its wagging tail. “It seems they don’t love you that much either!”
