Chapter 5

Every eye in the room turned to me.
My stomach clenched. “I just got a glass of water!”
“Search her things!” Dylan stood up, his eyes dangerously cold. “Now!”

Two security guards stormed into my cubicle and roughly started dumping out my box.
Books, notebooks… everything scattered across the floor.
Dylan strode over, his boot landing right on the picture frame. Glass shattered, and his heel ground our smiling faces into the debris.
I just watched in silence.
“Found it!” one of the guards yelled, holding up a small plastic bag.
It was a clear, sealed baggie filled with white powder.

I stared at it in shock. It wasn't mine.
“That’s not mine—”
“Not yours?” Dylan marched over and snatched the bag. “Then why was it in your box?!”
“I don’t know! Someone framed me!”

“Framed you?” Lilith’s weak voice called out. Supported by a secretary, she struggled to her feet, her pale face streaked with tears. She looked so pitiful. “Sylvia, I know… I know you have feelings for Dylan, and that’s why you hate me…”
Her tears fell faster.
“But I’m his Luna now…” she choked out. “Even if you hate me, you shouldn’t have… I never wanted to hurt you…”
“I didn’t do it!” My voice trembled. “I don’t even know what that is!”
“Enough!” Dylan roared. “How long are you going to lie?! The evidence is right here!”
He loomed over me, his eyes filled with disgust and disappointment.
“I can’t believe I never saw how venomous you are.”
“Apologize to Lilith,” he commanded coldly. “Now.”
I lifted my head and looked at the man who once promised to protect me.
“I did nothing wrong. Why should I apologize?”
SLAP!
A sharp, stinging slap landed across my face.
My head snapped to the side. My left cheek burned, and I tasted blood. My ear was ringing, my face numb.
“I’m giving you one last chance,” Dylan’s voice was merciless. “Apologize.”
In that moment, all I felt for this man was pure hatred.
I wiped the blood from my lip, straightened my back, and met his gaze.
“I want to see the security footage.”
Dylan was about to speak, but Lilith cut in weakly, “Dylan, just let it go… Maybe it was a misunderstanding? I don’t want you two to fight because of me…”
Her words only made everyone more certain of my guilt.
“See? Such a kind Luna.”
“I would’ve called the Enforcers already.”
Watching her pathetic act, I laughed. “Too scared to check the footage? Got something to hide?”
“That’s enough!”
Seeing the flicker of panic on Lilith’s face, Dylan cut me off harshly.
“This is my company. You don’t get to make demands here. Since you’re resigning, you can leave now.”
I knew he was determined to make me swallow this injustice.
But then I remembered: the Alpha King had jurisdiction over all businesses within his territory.
He would help me prove my innocence.
I gave Dylan one last, long look and turned to leave.
Behind me, Lilith’s voice, laced with malice, called out, “Sylvia, our bonding ceremony is tomorrow. You’re welcome to come.”
But by then, I would already be on a plane to Samuel’s estate.
The claim mark on the back of my neck had completely vanished.
Just like I was erasing Dylan from my life.
I sent him one last text: “We are done.”
Then I snapped my SIM card in half and threw it in the trash.
A new chapter of my life was about to begin.
