“Do you have to make such a scene?” He sounded helpless. “You tried to slander me using this method to make me give in just because I wanted to get engaged to Lana.”
He stared at me, though the piteous cries from the video resonated in the entire hall. He was still calm.
I smiled, but everyone could see the hostility emanating from me. I twirled the microphone in my hand.
“It looks like one gift isn’t enough for you. But it’s fine. I can give you a better one.”
Then, I raised my hand to press a button on the remote control to change the video.
However, John quickly got on the stage and snatched the remote from my hand.
“Hey, be good. Stop making a scene. I held this engagement party with Lana just to make you jealous. Now I’ve confirmed that you still love me.”
Then, he turned and looked at Lana, who was wearing a gown. He realized that she was grasping her hands in front of her body and could not stop trembling.
John frowned in displeasure and used a heavier tone. “Lana, let’s tell everyone the truth.” He raised his voice, which people found terrifying.
I tapped his shoulder and asked him to take another look at the screen. He froze.
At some point, the video on the screen had been paused. Instead, endless photos were shown one by one. Consequently, the noisy hall fell silent again.
“This…” Someone spoke up with a shaky voice, which was piercing in the silent environment.
After that, someone else spoke up with uncontrollable anger. “I didn’t expect the boss of Grand Corp. to use such devious means to suppress and absorb their competitors. How shameless!”
Although the speaker was already retired, he was once a tycoon in the business field. His words still carried weight. The crowd quickly caught on.
The photos were none other than the intimate photos John had with Lana. There was also evidence of John communicating with Lana’s father.
The Cox Family was once rich and noble. Lana’s father had worked hard to raise his family alone and was at the top for decades. But two years ago, he suddenly had a heart attack and dropped dead.
The legend faded overnight. Consequently, the people who had been targeting the Cox Family started swarming over it and ruined it in less than half a year.

Hence, Lana gained everything, including John’s love. She ended up as John’s mistress, a position without any actual power. But she was still smug about it.
The photos presented concrete evidence of how John got Lana’s father killed.
John had already betrayed me two years ago. He seduced Lana just to get the core confidential information of the Cox Family. After winning her over, he even took those shameless photos and sent them to her father. Hence, in his fury, her father drove himself to his death.
