Chapter 6

Zee stepped out of the bathroom, steam curling behind her like a silken veil. The tight, body-hugging short gown she wore clung to her in all the right places, her freshly showered skin glowing with a mix of chocolate and vanilla-scented softness. Her hair, tied up in a messy bun, crowned her bare neck. She licked her lips, coated in strawberry-flavored lip balm, and muttered to herself.
"Ohh... I forgot my hoodie."
Lucas looked up, his eyes locking on her. His breath caught.

"Uh...wow."
Zee raised a brow. "You said something?"
"Can't find my hoodie," she added casually.
Lucas cleared his throat. "Yeah... I said 'wow'."
His eyes couldn’t help but travel down her curves. She smirked knowingly.
"You look... amazing," he added.

"Thanks, Lucas. Can I borrow your hoodie, please?"
He tugged it off without hesitation, handing it to her.
"Won’t you get cold?"
Lucas shrugged. "Nah. I’ll be fine."

She slipped into the hoodie. Being petite, the garment practically swallowed her. The hood draped over her head, half-covering her eyes.
"I need help here," she mumbled, trying to fix it.
Lucas chuckled and stepped closer. His fingers gently lifted the hood, fixing it properly around her face. The way his hands brushed her cheeks... it lingered. A beat too long.
"Thanks..." she murmured. "Wow, you smell nice."
Lucas looked away shyly. "Uh, thanks."
His eyes dropped lower for a second—her bare legs glistening under the light, the short gown teasing with every shift.
"Now let’s go find Ben and his baby," Zee said.
Lucas blinked, snapping out of it. "Yeah... let’s go."
As they stepped out of the cabin, Lucas stole one last glance at her. But she caught it.
"By the way," she said, glancing over her shoulder. "Your thoughts are super loud."
Lucas flushed again. "I guess I was just—"
Before he could finish, a tall guy stepped in front of her, blocking her path.
"Hey, wait a sec."
Zee tilted her head. "Yes...?"
He eyed her slowly, smirking. "You new here?"
"Yep. Why?"
"Just... interest," he said, stepping closer.
Zee didn’t like his tone or his eyes. She stepped toward Lucas and grabbed his hand tightly.
"Can we move now? If you would excuse us," she said pointedly.
The guy’s smirk faltered, but he stepped aside. "Whatever. Suit yourself."
Lucas grumbled under his breath, keeping his hand locked around hers.
But the guy wasn’t done.
He turned around and came back. "Hey, can I get your number?"
Zee didn’t even blink. "No."
"Come on, don’t play hard to get," he insisted.
Lucas stepped forward, shielding her with his body.
"Well, maybe because I don't like you," Zee snapped, eyes sharp. "And I have someone I like. Get out before I make you."
The guy’s face twisted, but something in her tone made him back off.
"Whatever," he muttered, turning away.
As he walked off, he suddenly tripped—flat on his face.
Lucas blinked. There was nothing there.
"What the hell...?"
Zee pouted cutely. "Well, he deserved it."
Lucas smirked. "Yeah, he did."
She grabbed his hand again. "Now let’s go find Ben and Alex."
Lucas followed, still glancing back at the guy who was now brushing dirt off his jeans.
Zee had a way of stirring trouble and handling it all at once—and Lucas knew... this was going to be an interesting trip.
