Abstract

On his engagement night, Alex, the male protagonist, caught his fiancée Sophia entangled intimately with her ex-boyfriend Daniel. It was then that he fully realized his decade-long affection had been nothing but self-deception all along. Sophia had never truly moved on from her former lover, and had merely regarded Alex as a safe, steady substitute. Completely heartbroken, Alex called off the wedding, resigned from the business they ran together, and returned to his father to take over the family company. Having walked away from his old life, he finally freed himself from this unrequited and betrayed relationship, and began to reclaim his self-respect and a brand-new future.
