We were sitting under a willow tree at the training grounds.
"Ma'am, I don't know what to do," I told her.
"He’s rotten to the core. I don't think I can win."
She fanned herself slowly.
"It’s easy to be a monster, Posie. It’s hard to be a good person. It's easy to lose your soul; it’s a struggle to keep it."
She tapped my chest with her fan. "When a good person has to play the villain... that’s the hardest part of all."
"Then what do I do?"
"Betray your own heart," she said.
"If he’s a needle, let him sink into your skin. Let the poison reach your marrow. Just don't let go until you’ve caught him."
