Stripped of the filter of love for him, I rationally concluded that he came to find me only because he was afraid something would happen to me would dishonor his debt to my father.
Besides, that woman was safe in her downtown villa, much safer than me. That’s why Sebastian felt free to come find me.
Sure enough—

"If anything happened to you, how could I ever face your dad? Especially in weather like this!"
"I’m sorry, I didn’t watch the news. My father wouldn’t blame you."
I bowed apologetically with utmost sincerity.
But my words sounded different to Sebastian.
"What are you implying? Your father gave me a hand when I was struggling, but I multiplied his investment tenfold, a hundredfold! I’ve raised you wholeheartedly these seven years. I’ve repaid that debt! Do I need your permission to be with a woman? Do I need to worry about your attitude? Why did you run out of my office crying this morning? Do you know how much misunderstanding you caused between Amber and me?"
Ah, so I had run out crying this morning.

And this was his true, buried feeling, he’d long been tired of my presence.
Yet, I had clung to him.
Even I found myself despicable now.
His anger left me flustered.

I could only awkwardly force a smile and apologize again for the trouble I had caused him.
"Sorry,Mr. Cole. It’s late. You should hurry back to accompany Aunt Amber."
Ever since I realized my feelings under the system’s guidance, I’d stopped calling him 'Uncle,' as if that could bridge the gap between us.
This sudden reversion made a complex emotion flash in Sebastian’s eyes.
He suddenly sighed, his voice softening, "Tomorrow is your father’s anniversary. Come home with me now. Saves me having to pick you up tomorrow."
I took a step back, shaking my head, "The storm’s passed. I’m fine here. I’ll visit Dad’s grave myself tomorrow."
Sebastian frowned, summoning his limited patience to coax me. "I apologize for what I said earlier. But can you please, be a little more sensible, alright?"
I tilted my head, looking at him, not understanding what 'being sensible' meant anymore.
But I had already decided to bury the memory of that night and the child deep inside, leave quietly, and let him be with Amber?
Was that still not being sensible?
I was about to speak when Sebastian’s phone rang.
I remembered how, once upon a time, relying on his affection for me, I changed his ringtone to a silly cartoon theme, embarrassing him at a gala. Sebastian had just shaken his head helplessly, saying the kid at home didn’t know better.
Now, the cartoon theme was replaced by elegant violin music.
I expected it to be that woman, but it was his building management.
A chaotic voice came through, "Mr. Cole, sir! The storm shattered your penthouse window! A lady has been injured!"
Sebastian’s face instantly changed.
Without hesitation, he turned to leave, "Call an ambulance immediately! Send me the hospital address!"
I watched his figure rush towards the elevators before he abruptly turned back.
He’d risked his life in a typhoon to come see me already made mw deeply grateful.
It’s just that our entanglement ended should end here.
As the door clicked shut, a tremendous force slammed against it, flinging it open. Caught off guard, I fell hard, a sharp pain burning through my leg.
He loomed over me, glaring down, "What else are you trying to pull?! If it wasn't for you, I’d be home with Amber! She wouldn’t be hurt in the hospital!"
He dragged me downstairs like I was a chick.
The lobby was crowded with guests anxious about the typhoon. Our appearance immediately attracted everyone’s attention.
A reporter in the crowd recognized us.
He excitedly raised his phone, "Mr. Cole! Bringing Miss Sophie to the resort? Does this confirm your relationship status? Are you two here alone?"
Sebastian slapped the phone away, "She is just my niece."
Hearing that, I stopped struggling, a bitter smile twisting my lips.
Yes. Just his niece.
In that dazed moment, he roughly shoved me into his car, and the vehicle shot forward like a bullet.
The entire ride was at extreme speed, every turn felt like we were about to plunge down the mountainside.
Thankfully, Sebastian was an excellent driver. We ran red lights all the way to the hospital.
He pointed to the hotel next door, "Get yourself a room and sleep. I’ll try to make time tomorrow to go see your dad with you."
I’d just checked in when Sebastian stormed back in.
Without a word, he grabbed me toward the hospital emergency room.
At the nurses' station, he spoke urgently.
"Type A blood, right? Here she is. Take it. Ensure Amber’s safety!"
I looked at the familiar nurse. She looked at me, startled, "Aren’t you the patient from this morning?"
"I'm sorry, this lady isn't suitable. She just had a miscarriage and lost blood. Drawing blood now could be dangerous."
Sebastian’s brow furrowed deeply. "Miscarriage?"
