Lily sensed something was off with Sophia these past few days.
Before, faced with such situations, Sophia would have raged, exposing Lily to the Thompsons. Though never believed, she perSophiated.
Now, no matter how hard Lily pushed, Sophia remained impassive.

Even when she framed James, Sophia showed no reaction.
"Whatever! We spoiled her rotten! She thinks the world revolves around her!"
"From now on, she needs a taste of hardship! Then she’ll appreciate how lucky she was to live in the Thompson house for over ten years!"
Ethan also noticed Sophia’s shift, but he refused to indulge her.
Dying young in an accident, his real Sophiater never knew comfort.
Compared to her, Sophia had been incredibly fortunate! What more could she want?

Later that night, Sophia was showering in the guest bathroom when she realized the door wouldn’t open.
She yelled for help, but no one came. Her phone was in her bedroom.
She spent the entire night in the bathroom.
The next morning, the housekeeper opened the door and found her.

"Miss! How did you get locked in?"
"Oh dear, you’re freezing and feverish! I’ll have the driver take you to the hospital…" The housekeeper, Mrs Wilson, remembered Lily had unexpectedly given her the night off.
"Lucian... Ethan..."
In her feverish state, Sophia called out for her former brothers. Had she been lucid, she’d never have murmured their names.
Mrs Wilson had watched Sophia grow up.
Seeing her feverish and calling for her brother, her heart ached.
Since Lucian was out of town, she called Ethan right after the driver took Sophia to the hospital.
"Mister, Miss got locked in the bathroom somehow last night. We only found her this morning. She’s running a high fever."
"I had the driver take her to County General. She keeps calling you… Could you take some time to visit her?"
Mrs Wilson remembered how Ethan used to be fond of Sophia.
But after Lily arrived, Sophia was often blamed and criticized by him.
"You sent the driver? It’s just a fever. She’ll be fine after an IV." Ethan dismissed her coldly.
"But Miss is almost delirious! She keeps crying for her brother!"
"Mister, would you please take some time off? Be with her?"
Mrs Wilson recalled Sophia’s thin, tear-streaked face as she was helped into the car. She couldn’t bear it.
"Call Lucian. He’s coming back today." Ethan hung up impatiently.
Mrs Wilson had no choice but try Lucian,
"Mister, Miss got locked in the bathroom all night and has a high fever."
"I sent her to County General with the driver. She keeps calling for you…"
"Are you in town? Could you visit her?"
Mrs Wilson blurted out the situation once the call connected.
"Didn’t she get a boyfriend? Call him! Let him deal with it!"
Lucian was still angry about the supposed relationship, thinking Sophia deserved the suffering for her betrayal.
He hung up.
